I've been working out daily for years. Done the Firm for about 13 years now on and off with Tae Bo mostly.
I haven't been eating too well lately and need to begin somewhere. I bought the 2 sixpacks of Fitprime and KIck Butt and have been doing them for the past week or so. Promised myself to start a good nutrition program with the new workouts, but that hasn't happened yet ...
I know they'll make the difference, but I need some guidance on how to begin to eat better. I know all the diets and rules ... but I need some help on where to begin.
Any suggestions???

Hi Amy!

A while ago, I came across something call "The Clean Eating Rotation" posted on both the Firm Forum and YaYa boards. It is a 12 week "rotation" that gradually eases you into clean eating. Because you focus on adding/changing one habit each week, it never seems too drastic or overwhelming.

It's too long to post here (I tried and it wouldn't let me do it) but if you're interested, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.

You might also want to get involved in a check-in. I've never done one, but many folks swear by them to keep themselves accountable.

Good luck to you and congratulations for taking the first step!!!

Hi and welcome amyfirm1,

When I am looking to improve my eating habits, I try to cut the "white" from my diet as much as possible. I cut out as much white flour and sugar as possible. This doesn't usually happen in a day, but takes some work and a trip or two to the grocery store, but it is very helpful and is the base of change for the better for me. It might work for you too.

I forgot to mention that I also start or increase the amount of water I'm drinking. I find this particularly easy this time of year. This is also a great time to get fresh fruit and vegetables. Mmmm. Baby carrots keep jumping into my mouth and my grocery cart. I just can't stop them. :D ...and our strawberries are beginning to ripen. I can't wait.

I did something similar to that "clean eating rotation." I remembered seeing it years ago on the Firm forum, but couldn't find it. Anyway, I just decided on improvements I wanted to make to my diet, and slowly did them. I already drank lots of water, so my first goal was to have a vegetable snack every day...2 weeks later my goal was to add flax back to my diet, and added something every 2 weeks. I have since joined WW and doing the core plan, but those first steps I did were helpful and they have pretty much stuck with me.
