Hi everyone,
I'm new here but not to Fitprime or the FIRM. I started back with Suzanne's first video...I just LOVE that girl!
I could really use some advice with my problem area, where the butt meets the thigh. I workout regularly but I'm still challenged by this area. I'm 43 yr old female 5' 104 lbs. I workout with videos, I own a Nordic Track a rebounder and a lateral thigh trainer and can incorporate them in any recommended workout. I live in Florida where it's to hot to exercise outdoors right now.
Another aspect I can really use help with is that the right sides of my bottom is visibly less toned then the left side. Any suggestions for evening things out would be greatly appreciated.
Also could really use some specifics like times per week to do the exercise, duration or sets/reps. I've come to realize that I cannot change certain things about my body (like my thicker then desired calves) but hope that I can figure out how to put my bottom back where it used to be LOL.
Thank you so much in advance!!!

Welcome!!!!
Well, those tall box climbs where you concetrate on the negative(going down) are supposed to help with that butt meets thigh area. As far as equaling out your sides, well, gee,I am not sure. Do you usually work the left or right side first? There is no such thing as spot reducing, the main thing is to workout on a regular basis-for most of us that is 4-5 times per week and work out for a minimum of 45 or more minutes.
Since you have a Nordic track, that would be a great thing to do after you finish a shorter video to get in a good hour. Sounds like you are doing great!!!

Thanks for the reply!! I already use the box during my firm and fitprime workouts but I've never really concentrated on the down move, I'll have to try that. I usually just follow the videos and I couldn't tell you which side I'm working first...I'll have to notice that, maybe I could switch things up. I'm not really looking to spot reduce just spot tone. I'm not unhappy with the 'size' of my bottom, it's just hanging lower than it used to ;).
Does anyone have any recommended kick butt moves? If so I'd really appreciate the input.
Thanks!!

The reason I asked about which side you do first is because Anna stresses working the non dominiant or weaker side first. Also, kickboxing is excellent for the lower body.
Another suggestion would be Glute Lifts. Cathe does them in Muscle Endurance and Janis Saffell does them in her Brand New Butt and More workout. They really hit that little spot right where the glutes and thighs meet.

hey Meryl, just viewed that Brand NEW Butt and More. Looks fun. I wonder, does anyone really thing that doing exercise for one area is going to make and improvement?
This question again falls in the you can't spot reduce category so why is there just this Butt Video?
Does it work the whole body and they just gave it this title as cheese?

BNB and More is a pretty good overall body workout but it does really concentrate on the lower body and the glutes.

Hey Cheryl, you are right - you can't tell your body selectively where to lose pounds. But you can work on toning the muscle underneath "the pounds." Just like how we choose to work our upper bodies or our lower bodies with weights. We can shape those muscles through our efforts, but we can't choose where to melt that fat off that may be on top of a certain area. :)

:) I'd love to tone then my glutteous maximus:) I might look into this dvd some where down the road. I have so many I want to do. I have weak muscles in the hip rotators I believe. Every time I do any side raises laying down, it kills like no other muscle. Ya, even more then the abdominals. Don't now why. but it just does. Someone said they did this dvd and their legs were fried afterward.
I thought I was going to exercise today but it is so nice outside, I can't!!! I will go make some soap and then go to work and not fight the feeling:) No exercise today.

I did "The Hare" yesterday and during the floor work for the legs really felt it in the area you mention, Meryl. How about some good old floor work??

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've read the reviews on Janis's workout but it sounds more like a total body workout and I have plenty of those I already love that incorporate some great lower body moves, plenty of squats, lounges, step ups etc. What I was really referring to was a specific exercise that I could do in addition to my regular workout to really target that area. Someone (I think it was on another board) suggested a move I had never heard of but didn't offer any explanation of how to do it. Think I'll go back through the boards, find it and ask for more info.
Again thanks everyone!

Hi Meryl,
The vol 1 (Susan Harris) floor work..yeah! But, aside from Firmiobelia, there is a program called Callanetics. Callan Pinckney has a book and a couple of vids. But, the gist is this: her exercises raise your bottom UP. They are tiny little movements and believe me, you FEEL it working. It's kind of boring *sigh*, but effective. You should see results in..well, in the book they show REALLY good results in 20 workouts. Which, yes, is a lot. But, hey, if you do them every day for a month..and to do just the butt exercises won't take you that long. You should be able to pick up a copy on half.com or ebay for cheap!
best,
Jennifer
