I have had most of the original FitPrimes for years but I had yet to do any of them. When I bought them, I thought they were too advanced for me and they were going to be something I work towards being able to do.
Well I never got around to doing them. I think I started doing Cathe and got heavily involved with her workouts. Then Anna switch to WHFN. I bought all of those workouts and have done them several times although I haven't done any of them lately.
This year I found a lot of workouts on sale. I purchase several and ended up with several new workouts that I was trying to fit into my rotation. One day I decided to go through all the workouts I had in my collection and pull out the ones that I hadn't yet tried.
Here is where I rediscovered the Original FitPrimes. I hadn't done any of them. So I have schedule myself to do all 8 of them over the next 8 weeks or so.

Weight First
I did this workout on Wednesday August 20.
Below is a partial review of the workout that I posted on another forum.
When planning the workouts for this rotation, I allotted myself 3 WW activity points for this particular workout. After doing the workout, I thought I should have given myself 4pts. I was sweating buckets.
I am so in synch with the majority of Anna's music choices for her workouts. I love the music she chooses. Weights First is mostly sculpting with a few cardio burst. The cardio burst are simple moves that are done for about a minute. The transistions between the different sculpting exercises moved quickly or maybe I was just moving in slow motion but I thought the transitions were fast. Tracie was superb as always.
The workout uses a tall step, dowel, barbell, medicine ball, and dumbbells. I really didn't care for the segments where you had to bounce the ball.
All in all, I really liked the workout.

Core First Led by Carissa Foster.
I did this workout today, Wednesday August 27.
This workout is a blend of yoga, weights and cardio burst. It startd off with Yoga warmup and then moved to working the abdominals. The first part the workout was spent on the floor working abs, hamstrings, inner and outer thigh. At one point Carissa uses the barbell (weighing 20lbs) to do inner thigh lifts. I used an 18lb body bar and thought this was tough.
Most of the workout was sculpting. There were a couple of cardio burst but I didn't feel the cardio burst were very effective at all. Instead of burst, they were more like bubbles.
Overall Impressions:
I thougth a few of the yoga parts were tough. Carissa used some really advanced moves and were very challenging for me. Also, and like Weights First, I thought several of the transistions between exercises were fast.
Equipment
Medicine Ball, Tall Step, Barbell, Dowel, and Dumbells. Once again, I did not care for the bouncing ball work.
Overall I thought the workout was good.

Saundra, reading your posts & was in the same boat as you!
when I first bought the Original Fitprime's they were too advanced for me. I had such difficulty following & just could not keep up with the majority of the workouts.
I ended up traded them. Then the new WHFN's came out, adored them so much.
So, I thought I should retry the original series again.
I just received them not that long ago. I don't have Carissa's (it's not available on dvd?) (wish it was, I love Carissa)
Like you, I don't like bouncing the medicine ball. I can't really, my downstairs neighbor would go nuts! (can't say, I'd blame her).
but, I really enjoyed all the workouts, except JAC's (so sorry) (still too fast paced & difficult for me to follow).
I was proud & so surprised that I was able to keep up with the rest. I felt so darn strong! I think once you continue with the original Firm's & WHFN's, there's a learning curve that you catch? then your able to follow easier? you sort of know the instructor's moves or are more familar with them. hope that makes some kind of sense?
For me, the tall step climbs were my downfall. now that I'm stronger in the tall step climbs, the Original Fitprime's aren't as difficult as they once were! hooray!
I'm so glad I re-purchased them. they are so different. glad to have them in my collection.
I love Anna's music too, she is the best at picking music to go along with the exercises for sure!

Hi Lori,
When I was doing Weights First and Core First, I asked myself why it was I thought I couldn't do them before. I mean they are challenging but certainly doable.
I also agree with you about the learning curve when doing a system or instructor over and over. It was that way for me with Cathe. When I started with her, I thought her choreography was complex. Now it is usually a breeze for me to pick up.
This past Spring I started doing Amy Bento and experience the same learning curve with her choreography.
I have Volume 3 Up and Down with Jac scheduled for next Wednesday and I will post my thoughts on the workout here.
Thanks for your comments.

I'd love to read what you thought of Up & Down with JAC.
when I originally ordered the set (which was vhs) I remembered really, really liking & being able to do Weights First & Core First. I had trouble with the all the others though.
I found Steamin' Cardio a little tricky in spots. but, now, like I said, I was surprised that "they" weren't all that hard as I made them out to be? & I really, really had alot of fun doing them? totally surprised.
I think I'm not near as choreographically challenged as I used to be...but, I still didn't "get" JAC. (I really, really, wanted to).
Cathe, & Amy!?! you kidding me?! no way, no how, will I ever master them. I tried & tried & get way too frustrated.
Saundra, I'm impressed;)
I think back now when I did purchased the original Fitprime set, I was overwhelmed & probably overtrained. I should have kept them in the first place....it took me awhile to figure it out.
if you can get Cathe & Amy, you'll get the JAC...but still post.
fun to see this forum picking up again.

Saundra:
I just did Jac's Up and down this week and I agree with Lori, that I do find it fast, I do like this workout though , I think next time I do it I might lighten the weights and get the form of the workout first. Plus if you have the dvd it does give you pointers when you don't want to bounce the ball.
I just finished this week doing the original Fitprimes. Do you have Indeprime?
After having this workout for months, I finally decided to do it and I actually found it more challenging than I thought I would.
Lori I agree with you I would love to see Carissa's workout on Dvd.

oh Diane, tell me what Indeprime is like? I don't have it.
I love Carissa. I wish Anna would have made that available on dvd. wonder why she didn't?
when I knew my neighbor wasn't home, I bounced my medicine ball & boy is it ever loud! I'm used to not bouncing it now. I think it would be uncomfortable or foreign to bounce it now. I'd expect you'd burn more calories bouncing it though? or benefit more physically?

My first original Fitprime I tried was "Strong Bear" with Tracie, I checked out from the library. I was doing an original with ankle weights, when one of my neighborhood children came bouncing up the stairs. He just stared at me and said "Miss Net does that hurt?" I forgot which one I was doing, but my legs were in the air in a vee-shape. My **** was at the stairs. yep I know that was attractive.
I enjoyed Indeprime. If you don't have a wedge, Anna shows modifications. I felt it the next day especially in my legs! Let me enable you :D
Oh, I copied and pasted this rotation from Firm Yayas...
Originial Fitprime Rotation, copied from Yayas...
I've got the rotation scribbled on a piece of paper!

Wk 2 Hard: Monday Strong Bear, Tuesday Steamin Cardio, Wednesday From the Ground Up, Thursday Strong Bear, Friday Fast Cheetah, Saturday Weights First, Sunday Floor Burn (rest)
Wk 3 Light: Monday Fast Cheetah, Tuesday Floor Burn, Wednesday Steamin Cardio, Thursday Weights Cardio Yoga, Friday Fast Cheetah, Saturday Floor Burn, Sunday (Rest)
Wk 4 Hard: Monday Weights First, Tuesday Fast Cheetah, Wednesday Strong Bear, Thursday Crunch Time, Friday Steamin Cardio, Saturday Strong Bear, Sunday Flex Posture (Rest)

Okay Up and Down.
I really thought this workout could have been name Medicine Ball workout.
I agree with both you Lori and Diane. It moves quite fast. I thought the transitions in Weights First and Core First were fast. In Up and Down, not only are the transistions fast, but the exercises themeselves are fast.
The workout alternates for the most part between standing work and floor work, (probalby where the names comes from). I much preferred the floor work to the standing work. I felt I was actually able to do the exercises during the floor work. I felt the standing work move too quickly to make an impact.
Most of the workout called for a barbell and medicine ball. The high step was used periodically.
I used my 18lb bodybar for the standing work and my 12lb body bar for the floor work. Dumbbells were only used twice during the whole workout.
I did not like the cardio in the workout at all. But let me preface that by saying I am not a fan of the functional fitness type of cardio which this was.
This workout also contain more boucing of the med ball.
Other than the cardio, I thought overall the workout was good. Also,I want to note that I really didn't notice the music that much in this workout, which I usually do during an "Anna" workout
Next Wednesday, I have Steamin Cardio on tap.

Hi Saundra:
I think you will like Steamin Cardio better, but it is not really a weight workout light weights are used.
Lori I have only done Inde Prime once so far and all I can say it was 3 days before my legs started feeling normal. I did have trouble with the smart ball though, but you can do the workout without. I didn't have the wedge I used a slanted step, I did find it hard to move it around through the different segments of the workout, but it did work.

Hello Saundra & Diane!
I'm with Diane, Steamin' Cardio is alot easier to follow along. at first it's tricky the first time through, but the more you do it, the more I do it, the more fun I found. (takes me awhile to get the moves).
so were all pretty much in agreement on JAC's. wonder what Annette thinks of it?
I think I'm going to pass on the Indeprime. as much as I want it, I can't find a wedge anywhere around here. (Canada) & ordering online is out of the question (not really price wise..it's the shipping that kills it!). the $20 workout, ends up to be over $100. :(

I am here, accounted for and present!
I haven't done the old Fitprimes in awhile. Saundra, you are such a great enabler! I have to pull these out. My ball doesn't bounce, I wish it would. Because in Strong Bear with Tracie, she bounces the ball.
Yep Indeprime will fry your legs! And I am thinkin' the whooole time, how does Anna do it between me cursing her out (but in a good way!, I promise). I got a BodyWedge that is inflatable because I couldn't afford the wedge Anna has. But it does slide, so improvise by leaning it against the wall. Someone else mentioned as well, that TF with a mat works too. I haven't tried with the TF.
Did you try eBay, Craigslist or Amazon,or a used sporting goods store such as Play It Again Sports. Or new sporting goods, such as Dickless Sports as I call it for a wedge. I'll send out good vibes, you never know where one might turn up. I would try Goodwill or garage sale.
Both Steamin' Cardios are good. Heidi Tanner cracks me when she says, "ths should be Steamin' thighs instead of steamin' cardio." And I am right along with her!

oh there you are!
Annette, are you going to get the new Firm Power Ball kit? I'm sure you read at VF too, that it's supposed to bounce.
the local Walmart does have the inflatable Bodywedge 21. but, I decided to pass on it, after reading so many negative reviews about it. I'm sure I'd buy the one that's likely to leak.
you keep sending out those good vibes for me & I'll keep searching.;)
Saundra please post again after you tried Steamin' Cardio. is it the last of the bunch you haven't done yet?
your right, good point on the not noticing the music, great observation. I just didn't care for it. (I feel bad about that for some reason. I really like JAC) I'm impressed that you could finish it. I just couldn't keep up & gave it the 3 attempts, the good old college try, but it just doesn't work for me.

I haven't decided about that workout yet. That is a good idea though. I like equipment I can use in other workouts. But the kettle bell looks interesting enough to try out. Just for variation every once in awhile. I tried the kettlebells, and really enjoyed them. I am thinking perhaps I can improves with kb's in Fitprime/Anna's Firms.
I got my BodyWedge in a trade, so far, and knock on yoga mat, that it hasn't leaked. I have my blown up. I had a workout just blowin' it up with the pump!

I had a workout just blowin' it up with the pump!
LOL, they always come with the cheesiest pumps! your so funny! (you always make me laugh) I know what you mean though. I darn near had a heart attack pumping up a stability ball.
we ended up getting a better bicycle pump from the sporting good store. LOL
like you, you know I'm also a sucker for the equipment. I just ordered the power ball kit & the kettlebell kit. I love Kelsie, I'm sure I'll enjoy that video.
I already have a 2lb medicine ball, so I'm going to try that 4 lb'er in place of it on the original Fitprimes & old Firm's (see how that goes). I'm still such a wimp.
not like Saundra with 18lb bodybar!!!

Hi Lori:
Like Annette I didn't get the wedge from Anna's site either. I didn't try mine yet but it was not the inflatable one. I got the smaller size I think I paid $30.00 I don't know how much the shipping to Canada would be though.
I didn't want to pay the shipping at Amazon either.

well you know Diane, I was really hemming & hawwing with that one. the shipping is around $25, so many times I was just about to order than decided against it.
what was holding me back is, is it too short? when I got out the measuring tape & was seeing what the dimensions are, they seem so much different than what Anna is using on the clip?
I'd love to hear your comments after you have tried it.
I read someone else's post somewhere (not sure if it was here) where they had a smaller wedge but they had to use a pillow & were making adjustments. & the feel just wasn't right, or it wasn't getting the full effect.
For me, I admit, I am really lousy at modifying.
yet, if the smaller wedge is close, without having to use additional props, then I'm in.

Lori, I have only tried 3 of the 9 FitPrimes that I have. I have them schedule for the next 5 Wednesday. So Steamin Cardio is next Wednesday followed by From the Ground Up, Strong Bear, Fast Cheetah and Crunch Time. I also have Floor Burn but haven't put it on the schedule yet. I kind of ran out of Wednesdays. I might try to double up and get it in somewhere.
I like Heidi's version of Steamin Cardio. I liked all the WHFN workouts except for Lower Body Burn. Actually Lower Body Burn and Upper Body Burn both annoyed me because they were full body workouts and that wasn't what I was looking for or thought they were going to be when I purchased the workouts.
I bought the new FIRMs and just completed Transfirm Your Trouble Zones. This is the first time I have work with the KB and other than it scraping my knuckes from time to time, I thought it was a good tool.

Hi Lori:
I tried my wedge today and I didn't feel it was firm enough as I said I didn't buy it from Anna's site but it look exactly like it. So maybe the one she sells is firmer. as for the the size of it I don't think the width is a problem if anything it would be the length, I have been using the transfirmer and I find that length just fine. For me anyway being longer might not work for me as well.
Lori I just clicked the link from Anna's site and it is the same one I bought when I am laying on it as a pillow it seems fine seems very firm but when I put all of my body weight on it I just feel I sink to much.
Saundra I think you will like Fast Cheetah its one of my favorite Fitprimes, I like it better than the WHFN version.

Annette, that is so funny! I can just picture it:eek:
This is why I can't wait until one or both childrern leave to go to college. I am making one room into a workout room. That way I can close the door and zone.
I have tried working out in the morning, but I crash soon after for about 3 hours or so. Okay maybe not that long. I basically workout in the afternoon, a habit when Andrew was required to read for 30 minutes. And this was the only way I could get him to read and do his homework. He would watch the vcr clock. He would be so engrossed in reading and homework. Andrew can tell just by the instructor's voice which one I was doin'!
He would say, is that so and so, AGAIN?! Boys!

I am glad you got your wedge. It takes some time to adapt. I use my wedge also for slanted workouts in other workouts. It is great for chest press and chest flys.
One of the things I love about Anna's workouts is the music and exercise. Each exercise has a different song. I noticed this when I do other instructors. That exercises don't stop when the song stops, it just goes into another tune. Does that make sense?

hey everybody. I've been having trouble with our desktop & at the moment, I'm on my DH's laptop.
Saundra, why Wednesdays? what about the rest of the week? I never knew or even noticed (duh) that the Lower body & Upper body's were total body workouts?! you are very precise & observant. that's why I really enjoyed your reviews. I have to say that I really like Lower Body Burn, I love Melissa. I wish there was more of her stuff out there. Goodness, I love Upper Body Burn too. Heck, I think the Fitprime, Kick**** series is so awesome. I love that series the best of everything. The music & the whole production is so beautiful to look at.
I think the Fitprime's you haven't done are going to be more enjoyable also.
I'm looking forward to getting the kettlebell set, should be here next week? I ordered from amazon.
Diane, I think you saved me around $60? as much as I want that Indeprime dvd, I still am chicken on going for it. I wish I could find the same wedge Anna used.
I'm sure, I won't hold out for too long. I'm surprised I've lasted this long to be honest. Indeprime & Rootlock are the only 2 that I haven't bought of all of Anna's releases.
Annette, your boys sound like they are alot of fun.
we have viruses, worms & Trojans! looks like we'll have to call the Geek Squad. DH is not getting much online support from our provider.
I'll try & check back soon. hope I made some kind of sense.
frazzled & quickly trying to use DH's work laptop.
um, yes, Annette, you did make sense on your music comment. it's true, your right, the music isn't comparable on other people's dvds.
think Anna spoiled us all.
I always compare everything now to her stuff. can't seem to find anyone that I love as much.
another thing I noticed, is, Anna's Firm's/stuff always seem to know just when it's time to move on to something else. the next move. yes, the instructor's say just 5 more, & that's about all I can do. does that make sense?

Diane, I have previewed Fast Cheetah and I think I am going to like it too. I will let you know when I get to it.
Annette, I definately agree with the music. Many instructors use the music as background music, where IMO Anna choreographs the workouts to the beat of the music.
Lori, I love the set in the WHFN workouts. By far it is the best set I have seen to date. I know it should be all about the workout and for the most part it is, but I really wish more instructors paid attention to their sets.
I know when the FIRM produce the TransFIRMation series. The set was such a downer.:( It felt like from the TransFIRMer series to the TransFIRMation series they took several steps backwards in the production department.
Wednesday. I have a lot of workouts. So I try to mixed them up to get them all in. Also typically, I find that a series tend to focus on the same set of exercises, using the same movement pattern and even rep count. So I mix up the workouts for added muscle confusion.
My current rotation looks like this:
Sunday - Run and Stretch
Monday - Gaiam FIRM - although this will change next week - probably to some sort of sculpting workout.
Tuesday - Cardio - Amy Bento and Cathe
Wedneday - FitPrime
Thursday - Kickboxing
Friday - Rest
Saturday - Cathe Circuit Workouts
Also Sorry to hear about your computer. Hope you are able to get it fixed.

I guess I just have to give the wedge a chance. I didn't use the smart balls this time around when doing Inde Prime It was still a great workout, but I think with smart balls I used more muscles. I fell sore in my legs but not as intense as the first time I did the workout.
Lori I was looking at the wedge Anna uses also but that shipping just turned me off from buying it. But I noticed shipping as gone up for everything I mailed a package back to qvc and I almost passed out on the return shipping charges.
Saundra I do the same thing wilh my workouts I mix all the workouts into my rotation. Did you pre-order Cathe new series?

ughh, looks like I'm gonna be on the laptop for a couple of weeks. my DH dug out his old laptop for me to use. he'll be going out of town again Mon, so at least I'll have something to plunk away on. oh well.
Saundra, did you get any of the other new Firm releases beside the kettlebell kit?
how long do you run for? road or treadmill? & your kickboxing, do you use videos also? (sorry if it sounds nosey, just interested)
my rotation right now is 2 days on the treadmill 60 minutes. a weight video (1 hour, total body) (I only own original, new Firm's, including all the Fitprimes & Kick**** series) (I also have Jari's collection) & then 2 days treadmill for 60 minutes.
I really leaned out my body on this rotation, more than any other. I tend to bulk or build muscle pretty easy, so I found this right now is working. (for me, anyhow).
you girls are right...mixing it up, finding what works & doesn't. of course diet plays a major part.
I miss doing more sculpting workouts, but, I find I don't burn the calories as much as the treadmill?
Saundra, don't you find when you have too many videos, they start freaking you out? I had to downsize, I started to get real addicted & then stressed out
Diane, you are the little enabler aren't you??!! I thought Annette was bad.:p
I just have this feeling that the wedge wouldn't be to my liking. I don't think you can order the one Anna used, can you? I think the one listed now, goes to the smaller version?
I'm sure my rump & ham hock thighs would crush the softer wedge.
I just may have to try the dvd & see if I can adjust with the transfirmer & then decide about finding a wedge, somewhere, somehow. like I said before...that Indeprime keeps beckoning my name.
don't even talk about shipping! by the time something ships to Canada, the shipping ends up costing more than the actual product! I ordered the new Firm Powerball kit & the Sculptalates dvd & it cost me $60! no joke. it sucks, because everything I buy online now, I have to really factor in the shipping. basically every order is double in $ amount.
it has helped with my spending though, now that I think about it. makes me question myself. do I really want that? do I really need it?
Diane I
September 6th, 2008, 12:05 PM
Lori:
Now I was trying to stay away from the weight issue, but thats most likely why my wedge sunk when I tried it. The Transfirmer would probably work better for me if I had a lot of room to move around in, but I have to move it out of the way when its not used during a segment but otherwise it works just fine.
I build muscle easily also but I am glad I have it because I know if I didn't I would be just plan flabby.
My computer has been having trouble turning on I hope I don't end up on the laptop. I never remember all my passwords and forget the security questions they ask, if I can't remember my password or sign in name how am I going to remember a stupid security question.
To bad Indeprime wasn't had the Library or video story so you could try it instead of buying it.

Diane, I'm positive I screwed up our desktop computer with the security questions also. when DH is out of town, & I want online, I click on the wrong things, I'm sure. I am pretty ignorant on the computer. I just want online & am determined not to wait. I know it wasn't DH (he's a computer geek) (but, not good enough of one to get our desktop working) LOL, he's going to ask around at work tomorrow. we had an additional spyware & it's subscription ran out, a week later, we had viruses, worms, Trojans & other junk. 2nd time our provider's own security was useless.
we must have the same size work area. I know what you mean, about having to move things out of the way, just to get to the next move. I am constantly pausing & restarting my dvds. annoying.
I know in my heart of hearts, I'll end up getting the dvd. when I can't take it no more, a have some $ burning a hole in my pocket. but, I am going to try it first with my transfirmer like you suggested, before I go out a find a wedge.
I really appreciate you being so honest about that, because it really did make me pause about forking out all the $.

Lori,
Yes I got all the new FIRM's. I usually do. The ones I have done to date are Dangerouse Curves Ahead, Transfirm Your Trouble Zones, and Pump Jump and Jab. DCA and TYTZ has audio issues. I couldn't hear the music. I am thinking Slim & Trim might have the same issue because it was produced at the same time, but I am awaiting for that one to arrive.
I run 3 miles once a week. It usually takes me about 35 minutes to do that. I am supposed to be working on my time. I would like to run it at around 30 minutes. For the last few years I have been running in the Baltimore Running Festival. The next one is October 11. My goal is to beat last years time.
I used to run on a treadmill, but my treadmill broke and I didn't want to pay to get it fix. I had only had my treadmill about a year and 1/2 when it bit the dust. So instead of buying another one, I took to the road. At first the transition was a bit rough, but now I am used to running outside.
My kickboxing are dvd workouts. I really just started getting into kickboxing this year. When it first came out, I didn't care for it but now I love it. I have about 15 Kickboxing DVDs and I try to rotate at least one of them in once a week regardless of what type of workout I a doing.
And a *** yes, to having too many workout. Right now I can honesty say I have too many workouts. I have probably around 15 workouts I still need to do for the first time. That number used to be more than that. I have favorites that don't make it into the rotation a frequently as I would like. So I am in the process of slowing removing workouts from my inventory. Some I am going to get rid of and some I am just going to move to the back of my shelf.
This morning I did Bust & ****. That workout is getting moved to back of my shelf.

Lori,
That really stinks about the shipping and it would definately give me pause as well. I would really like to buy a medicine ball rack, but the shipping cost is making me hesitate.
The other day I bought $7.00 worth of Kraft Light Mayonnaise individual packets. It cost me $6.99 to ship it. Although, in this particular case, I didn't mind. I was just happy to find the individual packets.
Is the shipping only expensive or more expensive from US to Canada, than say Canada to Canada. Or is all shipping in Canada expensive?

Saundra, shipping is just as bad in Canada to Canada. In fact, the US to Canada has always been ALOT cheaper to Canada. It did'nt start to get really ridiculous, until the gas started to go up. I laughed when I read about your mayonnaise packets. (a girl's gotta have her mayonnaise) (at least you got your priorities straight).
I ended up ordering all the new Firms too. I hope I won't be sorry on the sound issues. I wasn't impressed with the Transfirmation dvds skipping & freezing. I'm expecting all this week, except the Powerball & Sculptates won't be shipping till the 12th?
Bust & ****, I did that a couple weeks ago. I love that dvd. definitely put it back on your shelf. I remember my pecs were sore the following morning. boy, oh boy, the original Firm's are no comparison to the new, huh? sad really.
I just got my treadmill in May. I love it. I sure hope it lasts longer than a 1 & 1/2 years! especially forking out that kind of $! I've read so many people online who have had the same problems after the 1 year warranty ends!? not good.
I'll bet my last dollar you'll beat your time in this years run. I'm sure of it. that's not that far off, so don't fall off track. 3 miles in 35 minutes! Wow, you go girl! Saundra that's really great. 5 minutes, I'm sure you can do it. funny how 1 minute seems like an eternity. so darn tough!
when I got the treadmill, I seriously went through the dvd collection. I decided to keep only my Firm, Jari & Karen Voight's Sleek Essential roller dvds. It was so hard to get rid of favorites. (especially Gin...she was my first introduction to home exercising). the truth be known, after I did, I lost that last 10 lbs that I couldn't seem to get rid of. I know alot of the dvds I had, were really not doing what they should be doing for me anymore. funny, I was so attached to all those dvds. rather liberating now. so far no remorse. They were becoming overwhelming before the treadmill.
goodness, I didn't even know there were 15 kickbox dvds available out there?! I can only think of Cathe & Powerstrike? you must be in some serious kickass shape Saundra!
I was thinking yesterday, how nice it was to talk with you, Annette & Diane. we all have alot in common. you all are super friendly, not like at some other forums, where someone always has to say something negative or nasty & ruin it. it's been nice coming here this past week, & I've been looking forward to what you all had to say. & Miss Saundra you started it!
this post is super long. sorry. hey, we should be getting our Vol 2 & 3's soon?
have a good one.
I'm off to start my day, look forward to your posts. Annette where'd you go? those kids must have kept you busy this weekend? a special wave to Diane for your offer, sweetheart:)

Hi Lori:
Do want to start a new thread? How often do you do the Treadmill I bought a new one in December I was not to impressed with it and just recently fixed my old one. What kind of Treadmill did you get?
Saundra how fast do you run? 3 miles in 35 minutes.
Let me know how you ladies like the new firm workouts I almost ordered them and changed my mind. I ordered the Jump rope one don't remember the name I haven't done it yet.
I been using the slanted risers for the step I still had a couple of ramp workouts sitting on the shelf and I tried it with those workouts. It work out pretty well. I finally put the slanted risers to use.
Lori I am afraid of getting rid of my workouts I don't want to regret it later and end up buying them again.

Diane, I did that for a couple of years (getting rid of, & rebuying) (especially with favorite instructors, like old buddies of mine...especially Gin & Leslie). this last treadmill was an eye opener for me. like I said, I seriously saw, the jogging & Anna's Firm's, Fitprimes were really working. it's super tough getting rid of them. I'm guessing I got rid of over 600. alot of years.
we used to have a manual cheap Tony Little treadmill off the shopping channel. surprising how long the little sucker lasted. about 10 years. really. used it alot in the beginning.
this one we got from Costco, called Epic. it was around $1200. has a tv on it. I really, really like it. but, I'm no expert on treadmills. I don't think it's anywhere near the best, but compared to the manual junk, it's like a Mercedes.
Saundra's post made me run again. incentive for picking up my socks abit more again. I was power walking (when we got the summer heat, I stopped jogging) cooler now, & Saundra gave me the boost to get up to speed again. I'm going to catch up with you Saundra again & get in my 3 miles under 35. LOL (hey, I saw on the news a horrible fire at a Baltimore shopping mall), is it anywhere near you Saundra?
will miss our posts when Saundra finishes all her Fitprimes.

forgot to say, It's been real hit & miss for me on the new Firms. I can't follow the choreography. it's too fast & confusing for me. I'm hoping this last bunch will be better for me.
Diane, I hope you have better luck than I did on the jump rope. I do love jump roping, but the dvd, did nothing for me. there isn't a whole lot of jump roping.
burpees & such are not to my liking. love to hear what you think of it.
maybe we should start a new thread? this is getting long. but, it sure is nice to read your posts every morning.
I wish Anna would make another Fitprime or Kick**** series. I'd love to own all the original Firm titles also on dvd.
this laptop takes forever, been on the computer far too long this morning. signing off for the day.

Lori:
I live in Ossining NY I don't know if you ever heard of Sing Sing prison, thats what this town was usally know for.
I had a Nordic Track power tread that I loved but the motor went and I couldn't find one or it was to expensive. So I bought a reebok or I should say thats what Walmart sent it came with a TV I thought it was great until I started using it. I personally found it hard on my body, then I saw a review about treadmills and it said that the Nordic track had a softer deck which I was used to.
Oh is it Gin Miller you are talking about I just love her sometimes she just cracks my up, thats why I kept some of the ramp workouts, I gave my niece the ramp but just couldn't get rid of the workouts.

I went out and bought most of Gin Miller's Ramp workouts. That is because a long time ago, I had bought Leslie Sansone Walk Blaster and wanted more workouts to go with the Ramp. I have yet to do any and don't know when I will get to them.
I think is was the week before last when I tried Slim without the Gym for the first time. I gave it four stars for the jump rope and lower body section and three stars for the other two sections. I really didn't care for the upper body section at all. I thought the jump rope section was the best. I was actually able to use the jump rope in my basement, I was suprised that it cleared the ceiling. Also I am not a fan of the burpee move. It seems like now almost any instructor who want to bump up the intensity add the Burpee move. It is starting to become over done.
Lori, I must not be watching the news. Didn't hear of any fire. I actually live in the Baltimore County (suburbs). I am about 15 minutes from downtown Baltimore.
Dianne, did you like have a tv attach to the treadmill? I thought about getting one with a tv attach but didn't know if the screen would be too small or if it would keep me from working out harder.
Lori, I would be in some serious kickass shape if I didn't keep feeding my face with junk. I don't eat clean consistently enough to make a real dent in the weight loss dept, although physically I feel pretty strong.
Okay, I need to do some work considering that I am actually at work.
Bye for now, Ladies.

Hi Saundra:
Whenever you get around to the ramp workouts lewt me know how you like Leslie's workouts I heard that have more of a Cardio workout than Gin's does.
As for the Tv I on the treadmill I don't use it that much except to catch up on Tv shows that I missed, yes I still use a VCR. As for the size I think you are close enough to the screen so that really is not an issue. I feel I get more of a workout listening to sports music I keep a better pase.
Well I will let you know how I like Slim without the gym when I get to it, My ankles have not been kind to me lately so I have been doing mor low impact stuff. I am I would be in great shape also underneath everything, its the junk food for me also.
Lori what do you want to call the next thread?

Diane, I have done Leslie's ramp workouts. She put out a system called the WalkBlaster. It came with three workouts. They were okay. I think at the time I thought they weren't intense enough. There are two 30 minute workout and one 40 minute workouts. I have ony previewed Gin's workout and I want to say the cardio is about the same. All 3 of Leslie's workout contain some sculpting moves as well.
Lori, I meant to tell you that we don't have to stop the thread whenever I finish the FitPrimes. I am quite happy to post whatever workout I do and read about whatever it is you are doing as well.
Today is Wednesday and that means I am checking in with a FitPrime. This morning I did Steamin Cardio. Loved it. I love the way Kelsie cues. The music was awesome and I didn't feel rush as I moved from segment to segment or exercise to exercise.
Of the WHFN Kick**** workouts, Heidi's Steamin Cardio is my favorite. I remember when Heidi introduced the Hand stand springs. I could barely get my lower body of the ground. Well, I still could barely get my lower body off the ground even in Kelsie's version.
I definately want to find a place to add the Original FitPrime Steamin Cardio in my rotation on a regular basis.

Hello, hello!!!
finally got up & running on our desktop. only $100 later. so glad to be back online. DH's old laptop is sooooo slow.
Saundra, I knew you'd love Steamin' Cardio with Kelsie. it/she is so cool. I have the stupidest, geekiest grin when I do that one. She makes that workout so fun. & when you get her moves, I feel like such a rockstar.
I'm not anywhere near as good as Kelsie is on the handstands! I can't believe how high she can leapfrog her glutes up there!?! I sure can't. she makes it look so effortlessly? which Fitprime are you doing next? I forget what one's you have left to do?
I love Heidi's Steamin' Cardio too. Heidi has such a pretty smile. She seems like she has fun instructing. The music is so cool on that dvd too.
Diane, I love watching the news when I jog on the treadmill. I just set the pace & catch up on the news & weather forecast.
former junkfood addict here. still have a cheat day. Sunday ( a fast food dinner). I do not buy any junk for treats in the house anymore. my DH hates this, but, I'm like a total drug addict where junk food is concerned. DH usually eats it at work or when he's with his friends. LOL
I finally got my weight, bodyfat % where I want it to be again & this time I vow, I will NOT let it creep up again. so far, I've been doing that. took some time for me to learn this. so, so easy to gain, not so easy to lose.
wondering when our Vol 2 & 3's will be sent out? getting anxious.
where'd Annette go? did we lose Annette?

Here and present. Sorry haven't posted! Please forgive me and don't hit me with your weights.
I thought about y'all on Thursday. I was lookin' for a short yoga workout. Lo and Behold, there was Anna's Flexposture waitin' for me! When I first did this one, I wasn't into pilates and yoga. Now I love it! Anna really holds those poses and then stretches out the poses, like a push/pull affect or effect. For example, Anna had the dowel in both hands and pulled out from the lats at the waist. I really felt that with my sculpting stick.
After I really got into the Fitprimes/Kick****s, I have a deeper appreciation for yoga and pilates. I have been reading lately about yoga. The mediation as well as the phyiscal. I have noticed since I have started incorporatin' yoga that I have gotten stronger but still can't quite keep w/AB's Firms pushups. Gettin' there though!
I have a little bit more ab defination when I such, tighten, twist and turn blue w/o passing out. :D I use yoga as a warm up which I noticed I do lift a little bit heavier. I guess my body is warm and the brain is more focused or zoned into my workout, while I zone everything else out.
I had a manual treadmill and manual elliptical. I both sold those because I got spoiled when I was on vacation with an electric. I took my Firm weights and walked my behind off on the electric treadmills when I was on vacation. So yeah I am a little spoiled!
I do have Fluidity Bar I puchased at a garage sale. I have done that a few times but I realize I am not into pulsing workouts per se,like Bar and Callantics. I do like ballet workouts though.
I just need a dedicated workout room....hmmmm, let me see, 4 more years until Katie goes to college and 6 more years until Andrew.
I love Heidi in Cardio, she cracks me up, this video should be "steamin thighs instead of steamin' cardio." I love the music in all the vids, but Heidi's Cardio with Kim, and the ab section makes me cry. It is so beautiful.
Saturday during football season is my rest day! Sunday is when I make a "good dinner" with desert :D....it is my cheat day.
Oh we went to Macroni Grill last night, they had the neatest idea. It orso pasta with fresh spinch, dried tomotoes with a dash of olive oil. I tried it today with both dried and fresh tomotoes and grapeseed oil. Added a little bit of salt, pepper and garlic salt. It was great as a side dish. I also made the mistake of making Thai rice. I got this from Target when it was on sale. To try something different. I like this rice.
I enjoy some of the new pinkies, but I find myself returning to Anna's and some of the BSS's.

Lori, the music and choregraphy does make sense. Finish up exercises with the music. Sorry about your laptop. Katie's laptop needed a new motherboard. She's only had it for a year.
Saundra I wish I could get into kickboxing. I can do a little but I feel like a dork and uncoordinated as anything. Then again I said that about step. :D
Diane request titles from the library. Our local library does requests for purchase. I am happy our library had so many Firms and Fitprimes. That is how I started my collection. I didn't realize Anna had come out w/Fitprimes until I started getting serious about working out. The library has a copy of Strong Bear with Tracie. I never looked back.
Come to think of it, I don't have RootLock. What is the matter with me? Did I hit myself in the head with weights or oxygen deprived from too many leg lifts on the fanny lifter :D
Lori

thanks for making me hungry Annette. I love spicy Thai food. rice loverer here period!
glad you posted. thought you quit on us. I didn't know your kids were that old Annette. I thought they were still just little ones?
Anna has such great posture in her videos. I didn't like yoga or pilates either when it first came out. but, like you, I really understand & appreciate it better now. I too, use it alot in my day to day activities now. mentally & physically. alot of the original Firm's, (can't think of the titles right now) (but quite a few of them) used pilates moves. like in the ab work (the hundreds) & quite a few other moves. Anna, was way before the times!
for me, you (Annette) was the one who told me about Anna's new Fitprime's & Kick****'s over at VF. Annette has been my Firm enabler for years...(unknowingly). then of course I had to get the Original Fitprime's too. that was a given, huh? I'm with you Annette on the "can't believe how darn beautiful"!!! all of the Kick**** & Fitprime series are! everytime I pull one of these out, my adoration comes to life again for these! definitely Hall of Famers! never thought Anna could repeat what she did with original Firm's...but she did.
love, love my new treadmill. thought it would be the 'dreadmill', but, it works so good in my rotation for a cardio day.
do any of you own Kettlenetics? I just ordered it last week. I think Saundra, you said you had them in an earlier post?
Annette, I had the fluidity bar, I sold it. I liked it, but, I don't think it did anything for me? I seem to prefer weights? one thing I found really hard was that back thingy thing she did? with your back straight up against the back of the mat? I remember hating that! lol, not liking that, one bit. & those leg lifts she did! those were tough!
I miss the stretch that you got with the bar though. beautiful peice of equipment. nicely done videos too. how long have you had yours? do you use it much?
wouldn't it be nice if we all lived closer with each other & then we could just loan & rotate our stuff around? cheaper. then you could see if you actually like the stuff before purchasing too.

I enable y'all in sooo many ways :D
The Red rice is "Thai Red" from Targhet, the Archer Farms food label. It is not too spice but more of "firm, nutty, aromatic" rice. It is denser rice.
No I'll never leave or abandon y'all, I hope not anyway!
My oldest child is 14 years old, Katie and Andrew is 12. I am hittin' that pre-teen, tween, teen stage. All I can say is that I am glad certain counties in SC have beer and wine sales on Sunday :D.....
I had a "duh" moment last week. I was workin' out and doin' the stretches and realized many of the stretches at the end are really yoga or yoga inspired but just not named that! The 5 Day Stretch is a rare/oop one that I have. Also Anna had a few pilates and yoga that were noticeable in the Tri Trainers series: Fat Blaster, Better Body and Buns, etc. Jen Pulsuio (sp) does the 100's for abs.
I was reading this month's Shape Magazine, and it the section was a blurb about leg presses. I yawned, that has already been done. Yep Anna was and still is before her time.
I wish all my friends who workout lived closer! I did go to a garage sale a few months back. And met this woman who does nothin' but Firms. She is retired but looks wonderful. She didn't even look her age. And I have met a friend through eBay that her mother does Firms. I won't even discuss my friend who enables me as well. I guess this is good exericse karma! She got me hooked on Keli Roberts. Which I was exposed to Keli through Fitprimes. I am glad Anna had Keli and Kimberly, etc on the workouts I would have never been exposed to them.
Did you read about the Keli/Jackie Warner controversy? That was really sad because I love Keli Roberts. Keli handled the situation with dignity and class, in spite of Jackie sayin' that Keli's style was the 80's. I though the 80's and 90's Firm/Fitprimes got my **** in shape, can't be that bad. I don't think exercising changes that much!
Lori
September 14th, 2008, 11:22 AM
I remember you from so long ago Annette. years & years ago. I remember when I first got really hooked on the Firm, & you were nice enough to send me an email (you were going to loan/give me some of your vhs's to try) can't remember, thinking one was Gin's stability ball workout & some others. I can remember thinking you were the cat's pyjama's!
you were so helpful with me, when I was collecting my Firm's. with titles & descriptions, all kinds of *** help. I really can say you were the 'one' definitely that got me seriously hooked on the Firm.
so far the pink Firm's have been real hit & miss with me. I only have liked a handful of them. the choreography of the new instructors are too difficult for me to catch. the pink Firm's that I do like, seem to be strictly the sculpt workouts. (obviously no choreography). I plan on trying Dangerous Curves next week. still haven't gotten my Powerball kit or the Sculptalates dvds yet. not shipping till the 16th. I have the Kettlebell dvd with Kelsie & Pump, Jump & Jab planned for the following week. Hoping I will click with these?
no, I haven't heard about the Keli & Jackie spat, do tell. email me or pm, if you can't post here. I heard about Jackie's little controversy before with the other trainer & the student...the breast episode one. I'm a huge fan of Keli. I love her especially on the whfn's. with the dowel, she rocked it out.
your rice sounds healthy. yumm. we don't have a Target around here. I don't recognize that label. sounds so tasty. I'm hungry as we speak...heck, I'm always hungry. signing off, gone for some nasty McDonald's. sorry if there's spelling mistakes.....no time for spell checks!

I have done Gin's Ramps workouts on the fanny lifter. I didn't really click with those. But I have had the opportunity to train with Gin when she was in Columbia a few years back. She is pretty and hasn't age. Just like someone else we know, like Anna!
I wouldn't mind tryin' the Kettlebells. I did Kettlebells at BodyFit a year or so ago during a FitBelievers weekend. It was somethin' different to mix up the routine. I also tried the bosu, and that really works abs. Gaiam is having a sale on bosus. As tempted as I am....:D I would love to get the Rodney Yee's kit with abs and gloves. I like him as a yoga instructor along with Bryan Kest (his older stuff reminds me of Gino Vannelli-I Just Wanna Stop singer because both had long hair) and Baron Baptiste. I have gotten into Beryle, Eion Finn (nice accent) Kundalini Yoga with Gurmukh (who was in Columbia and I missed her), Ana/Ravi. I have a few others I have tried like Seane Corne.
Lori I am glad I was helpful to you, don't tell anyone I was being helpful, they might put me on a committee :D....I guess I have earned a brownie point to heaven. I have to remind St. Peter of that :D
Keli cracks me up....and I love her accent. "It's a quick transition you have to be ready for it." I love her in Step It Strong. During the cool down, she says "the white girl dance." I have her older cardio ones for cardio days. I didn't care for the Cher ones, too chatty. Of course I love her in Anna's workouts!
I think there was a thread on VF and Firm yayas about Jackie/Keli. I know Keli posted on blog. http://web.mac.com/keliroberts/Keli_Roberts_Blog/Blog/Blog.html I wasn't really into Jackie's show anyway, I don't like realty shows that much. What I really wanted from a show like that is fitness tips or training tips.
Don't worry about spell check, etc. I think it was St. Theresa of Avilla, who said, "dot your own i's and cross your own t's I think you get the message. Or something similiar. English and grammar wasn't my strong suite anyway. History was! :D We won't even discuss math. I am glad God just gave us 10 toes and 10 fingers, I am lost after that. I tell my kids get a tutor to help with math. Plus their math is awwwway over my head.
Ahh, everyone needs a treat now and then. Katie made cupcakes for a project with 4 leftover. So we had those with ice cream. It is our Sunday dessert. We usually have fruit, cheese and wine for the adults after CCD but the kids had an altar server meeting afterwards with pizza. They were too stuff for dessert.
Oh yes, I forgot, Katie is takin' aerobics at school! Of course, I just had to send her coach a few of my older Firms and other materials. They started with Firm workouts at school. Katie's friend told her, "Katie you are sooo lucky, your momma has these workouts." Of course Katie rolled her teenage eyes and said, "yep I am lucky." I had been working out with her.
I suggested a trip to either BodyFit or The Firm. It is one of those instances when I wish Anna still had Fitprime. I would love for those girls to meet Anna! Or I wish Anna could meet with them. I think that would be awesome. Anna is a great role model for any one regardless of age or what stage they are in exercising.

Hi ladies:
Annette I have always like Keli Roberts also, my first experience with her was with the Cher Video I like her ever since. Rodney Yee is one of my favorite yoga instructures not that I have that many I don't have patience for the longer yoga workouts.
My sister made a orzo with eggplant pesto I didn't care for it even though I do like eggplant.
I have checked much at the library for workout videoes it might have saved me alot of money. Oh I do have Root Lock I like Inde Prime better.
Lori as for workouts I have most of the Firms I didn't care for some of the pink ones but I have all of the older ones. I have all of the Cathe even some that are not available anymore. Some Christy Taylor, Gin Miller, Keli Roberts, *** Gasper and I could go on but I won't keep you. I like Step workouts for cardio but will mix it some once in a while with kick box if I am in the mood.
How did you commit to giving up junk food I did it once and did really great in the weight loss department. Junk food is the same with me a drug or a crutch trouble with hubby I eat, my mother dies I eat, my father in law dies I eat. But as of now I have come so close lately to finally giving it up I know I will but my steps in doing so has been slow.
Saundra so far overall how are you liking the Original Fitprimes?
I did both Strong Bears recently and I like them both but I do like Stacie's better.

Good Morning ladies.
My next FitPrime is From the Ground Up and I will do that on Wednesday. So far I am liking them. I can definately see me adding Steamin Cardio and Weights first into the rotation. Not sure about Core First and UP and Down. I want to do those again and see how I like them a second time. When I am not sure about a video, I always try to give that workout 2 tries. It used to be 3 tries, but I have too many workouts to do that now.
Lori, I do not have Kettlenetics. The only Kettblebell workout I have is Kelsie FIRM tape. I am really trying not to take on a new systems. Speaking of which I have been on the fence about Fludity for a long time now. I still haven't gotten it because I don't know how much I will use it.
Diane my first experience with Keli Roberts was with CherFitness too. I actually still have that VHS tape.
Lori I have met Annette and she is wonderful in person as well. I will see her again in October if she is coming over to the FIRM trip.
Speaking of older FIRM workouts. This morning I did Better Body & Buns. I love this workout and I really hope Anna converts this one to DVD as well.

Hi y'all,
Saundra, thanks for the nice compliment. I enjoyed our time together as well at the Firm trip. That is an interesting way of tryin' out workouts. I tend do it once and if not really carin' for it, put it away. Like books that I try reading. A few months down the road I really do enjoying reading that particular book or subject.
I think I am tryin' the older Fitprime rotation for this week. Better Body and Buns is a good one. Thanks for the inspiration. How do you like the new Kelsie workout?
Fluidity is okay if you like Lotte Berk, Callantics, and Pulse Yoga (I wanted to try these and purchased but they are on my trade/sale list). I think I like the bar for ballet workouts better. Element Ballet has some aspects of Lotte Berk. Some people have had success with these workouts, I guess I have gotten spoil with movement, does that make sense?
Diane, orzo and eggplant does sound good. I did an experiment receipe with thin chinese noodles and eggplant. I know you don't like eggplant, probably can sub with squash, zucchini, etc. I had leftover spaghetti sauce. I just layer the noodles, eggplant, sauce and cheese.
I thought about adding a light white cream sauce to orzo and adding mixed veggies (the califlower, broccoli, and carrots), for a side dish.
I haven't given up junk food, but I do have healthy junk food such as fruit and Publix had buy one get one free on Goldfish :D I have kids, what can I say....plus my kids are starvin' and diein' when they get home. Just famished. I love the powdered chocolate almonds from Sam's.
I do have longer yoga that I really need to try. I call these my weekend workouts but since football season, forget about it. I try and take a rest day on Saturday, usually I do workout on Saturday and active recovery on Sunday. I figure football season is only a few months. Sorry no pun intended.
I do have a few Gins and Cathe's. I have a few misc ones such as BodyStep and BodyPump. But I always end up going back to Firms and Fitprimes.

Saundra, I must have gotten Keslie's kettlebell kit mixed up. I'll let you all know what I think of the Kettlenetics whenever I get it!!! it's still not charged to my account. & will probably take a month to get here. Annette has such a wicked sense of humor. She makes me laugh so many mornings. I just love that girl's posts. I've told her many a times, "I'd love to come & play with her & all her Firm toys!". Annette is the official "Firm Officiando".
Saundra, we're like twins. I have the 2 strikes & your out rule too. if I don't click with it on the second try, I figure there is no point in wasting my time anymore.
From the Ground Up is a "sore the next day" workout. Annette, that's the one done barefoot, isn't it?
jealous of you' all's Firm trips.
as for the Fluidity, that is really a bandwagon that I wish I did not jump on. lesson learned for sure on that one. put that in with my Supreme Pilates system (sold that too). sticking with a no more than $100 rule! I should have known better anyhow.
I wish I read the con's better. one thing I will tell you, if you don't have alot of room, it is very cumbersome. it weighed about 3/4's of my weight & was extremely difficult to move from around the door, down the hall, cut a kitty corner into another small hall, into my den in front of the tv/dvd. a workout in itself. & the wheels on carpet aren't so easy. I don't have a bed to fold it up under like on the infomercial.
this is another main reason why I love the Firm, because I don't need alot of room. Plus, I just feel like I get a better workout when working with weights? just my own opinion, I know others will totally disagree. you gotta do what works for you, right?
Diane, I loved CherFitness. I love it when Cher sang along. Keli was so good on that tape.
you have no idea how bad my diet was. I lived on a tub of Ben & Jerry's every day. no exaggeration. sugar was my arch enemy. anything with sugar. I lost 16lbs as soon as I stopped. rather quickly. in about 2 months. I'm small too. I am 5'4" & weigh now 115. so you can imagine 16lbs on a small frame is quite abit. How I did it? weened myself. just like any addiction, one day at a time. seriously. they say it only takes your body 3 days to not miss the sugar addiction. the cravings were horrible. but now, I have a peice of fruit. like any addict, now, I know, that I can't have even a little peice, or I will binge. so I do my best to stay away from it. it's a mental thing. honestly. if you want something bad enough, you can do it. you get a real drive to do it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about the pink Firms. I feel like I'm the only one. the new younger girl's moves are too tricky for me. I admit I don't have 2 left feet, I have 3! I prefer the basic moves. Old School training.
Annette, 3 teenagers in the house, no wonder you have such a witty sense of humor.
I have a huge crush on Rodney Yee. my gawd!
yes my friend you earned a brownie point, but, I'd rather you eat the brownie!
has anyone noticed the ****??? why so sensitive? I'm finding I have to re-edit my stuff, so you know what I'm saying. sometimes it looks like I have a *** old potty mouth?! I'm typing words like glutes & breasts, otherwise you have no clue what I'm typing! even Kick****??
gone to read that Keli/Jackie thread you left for me. thanks again.
ok, back to say the *** on old potty mouth was "***". why on earth did "***" get made into a ***????

Hi,
Saundra from the ground up is one of my favorites, Heidi is great. My bottom is usually sore for a couple of days if I do the workout correctly. I like Core First better than up and Down but I do motify a little in core first I don't like the bar weight on the inner thigh.
I also still have my Cherfitness Vhs I will even do it once in a while.
Lori I am just a little shorter than you just under 5' 4" but I certainly weigh a whole lot more than you do. I know if I make the commitment I will start losing.
So you are a binger too? I don't have two left feet I do eventually get the moves down it's my ankles that don't like do the moves its probably the weight issue again. So three days huh?
Annette I don't have any teenagers but my son does live at home he is 26 but I swear sometimes he is still a teenager, I really wonder how he would do living on his own. So I don't have any excuse eating junk food unless you count my hubby bringing it in the house.

Hi y'all, well I was goin' do the rotation with the old Fitprimes this week. But nooooo the over the top system that Dave got didn't work with the vcr. Pray to the stereo gods that my vcr sound will come on. Tomorrow is Core First. So I did newer version of Fast Cheetah. Heidi's ab section makes me cry every time, the music so beautiful. It makes me want to run through fields and feel free....
I have 2 teens at home, but with Dave around it feels like 3 teens! And both are at the age when aliens have invaded my kids and will return them back in their 30's. In the meantime, I have to have a sense of humor. Especially living in surburbia....I would love to move into town, get a Blue volvo convertiable, have chicken salad sandwiches every day. :D But right now I have the family mommy station wagon. The closest I get to a converiable, is opening the windows and the sunroof!
I have a collection of Firm and Fitprime items what I can from garage sales, Goodwill, Firm yayas and eBay. Just got a ton of stuff from eBay lately. I think my history
major has alot to do with it. In my will I am donating all my items to the musuem. Anna did make SC history!
I think Keli Roberts handled the sitution with dignity and class. And her blog about her bi-polar was interesting as well. I do like Cher's singing in the workout though.
I do crave vanilla ice cream every once in awhile. I mix it with cereal, nuts and berries, so I won't feel soooo guilty. Usually that time of the month because I don't drink milk.
Oh, Walgreens, my favorite store had shorts on sale for 1.00. I got 2 pair. They are comfortable and don't make me look like a hootchy cootchy momma. And covers the celluite. :D They also had warm up pants on sale.
Target had a pretty good sale on workout bras. Katie needed a few for PE. Target had a pretty good sale over all, but I really didn't NEED anything. But I did get a new bra which I need to alter so I won't have the uniboob.

Good morning ladies.
I didn't wake up in time enough to do my schedule Amy Bento Hil Lo Dome Challenge workout. Instead I did my 10 minute evening workout from 10 minute Solutions Carb & Calorie Burner.
I bought several 10 minute solution workouts. The plan was to used them as one 50 minute workout but I could never find room for them in my rotation. So I decided to do each workout in 10 minutes chunks until I get them all done.
For the very brief time I have seen Jackie's Bravo program, I wasn't impress with her and thought she was crass. Many have posted that her workout (which Collage sells) is very good but from the preview, I wasn't enthralled.
Lori, thanks for the detail review of Fludity. I know it is easy to jump on the bandwagon. I hate things that are cumbersome.
Diane, I am a binger and I constantly have sugar headaches. Anytime I eliminate sugar from my diet, I get the absolute worse headache.
Annette, my favorite ice cream is chocolate chip. I like both vanilla chocolate chip and chocolate chocolate chip.
So I have a work function tonight. I am going to try to skip it. I really want to get my Amy Bento workout in.

my DH is really bad for bringing in junk to the house. sabatoge. eventually I'd give in & binge. then feel bad after. but, heck we're human right. you still gotta live a normal life.
don't get me wrong, I don't eat totally clean (as they say). but, to get the weight off & keep it off, I really, really have to monitor myself. & I mean daily.
portion control is key. no more bingeing, & now in my 40's, exercise is a crucial role in keeping my weight off. if & when I fall off the wagon so to speak, just start back again.
if you ween yourself off the sugar more & more each day, you'll truly see, you will want less. take it from the horse's mouth, you ask anybody around here, I was the worst sugar addict on this planet! my diet was the most horrible diet you can imagine.
another tip, if you really want to get out of that plateau weight, you have to be honest with yourself. (hard to do) but, when exercising you have to get out of your comfort zones somedays.
I got a scare myself a couple of years back with high blood pressure. it runs on both sides of my family. diabetes also. I've always been somewhat fit, but around 35 yrs old, I started to gain 5lbs here, then another.....long story short, I knew the family history path I was heading & decided I really needed to do something about it.
sorry if I sound preachy. I'm sure I've told you all nothing you didn't know already. just wanted to share & make sure you look after your health. it's so important. something I used to take for granted, for sure.
Saundra, I didn't care for Jackie's clip at Collage either. have you increased your speed on your run? when is the run in October again? I tried to see if I could do your speed on the treadmill, heck you got me beaten still now by 10 minutes girl!? I'd be eatin' your dust.
Annette, thank you once again for a hilarious post. enjoyed that very much so.

Lori, my run on Sunday was slow. It was really humid outside. The thing is I knew it was suppose to be a *** and humid day and I was intending on getting up at 7am to do my run.
I didn't make it out of the house until about 820am, when I came back the time said 9:02. It was already ***. The air was so thick. My saving grace was that there was a slight breeze. I did try to push it a little bit but I felt as if I was running is slow motion.
After my run I showered and spent half of the day napping.
Hopefully I will do better this coming Sunday.

I don't know how you do it Saundra? I know what you mean by napping after though. Even when I try & kick it up a notch myself, I'm so exhausted, & end up taking a few power naps. I have to be careful after too, because I can eat like a horse after.
today I did 4.5 miles in 60 minutes. I seem to never get past this? how long do you stay in a certain training zone before you move to the next level? 5 minutes seems like an eternity???
being fairly new to jogging or running, it is very humbling. I thought I was fairly decent with power walking, but jogging is a whole different ballgame. I can see why people get addicted to it. it's very rewarding when you see the payoffs that come from it. my goal is to be able to try a run/event...but, I got a ways to go. still training, still training.
your my role model for sure. post how you did on Sunday when you get a chance.
there are pre-orders for those 10 min solutions you like for a kettlebell workout at amazon. did you see that? you might be able to use your Kelsie kettlebell with it?

Lori:
Since chating with you I am really trying to get myself under control, I have the same issues in my family also, my mother actually died 2 years ago from complications from diabetes. She just turned 64. I am not looking for perfection, just a little consistancy. If I didn't workout I don't know where I would be. I have been doing a food diary and measuring my portions. thanks for the motivation.
Yesterday I did a Cathe Kickboxing(4-day split) just the cardio and ab work my rib cage area has not been to friendly to me today, so today was a lightwe workout I did Metaboost I actually like this workout I feel when I do a slower passed workout I can really work on my form.
Saundra the weather wasn't to friendly this past weekend I wouldn't even have thought of running in it I had a hard enough time walking in it.
I am not one for the actual sugary stuff not that I don't have it but give me a bag of chips and they are history and I am not talking about a small bag either.
Annette I still use the VCR also my hubby bought a new TV and using the VCR has never been the same the picture is always snowy, to find out months later that something was wrong with the jack on the back of the TV of course after the warranty was over and he didn't listen to when I said take the tv back so eventually we will have to pay to get it fixed.

Lori, I just went and pre-ordered the 10MS KB workout. I figure the price woudn't be lower than $9.99. I wonder who is instructing it.
Also for me Lori, it was NOT love at first site with running. The only reason I started running outside was because my treadmill broke and I didn't want to pay the money to get it fix.
There was a *** differenct running on the treadmill and running on the pavement. I thought running on the pavement a lot harder. When I first started out ( I was training for a 5K) I would walk and run. I started by walking a mile, running a mile, then walking then last mile. I gradually started walking less and running more. It took me about 8 weeks to get up to the point where I was running the whole 3 miles.
Now I just want to work on speed. Although I really haven't been working on speed. I don't even use a watch when I run. So I guess I should say I need to be more serious about working on speed.
I live in Baltimore Maryland and every year they have a Running Festival. There is a 5k, 1/2 Marathon and Full Marathon. For the last 2 years, I have run the 5K. This year will be my third. I wish they had a 10K. I would train for that. I think that is doable.
I have no desire to run a 1/2 marathon. So that is out.
I will say that on Sunday, I did wish I had my treadmill back. At least then I could increase the speed of the motor to make me run faster. I was having a tough time trying to increase my own internal motor.

Diane, I don't pay as much attention to the weather as I should. On Friday, my mom called me to take me that Ike had turn and was heading for Houston. She said that she knew that I didn't watch the news and that she and my step dad weren't going to evacuate. She wanted to call me before it hits in case she couldn't talk to me for awhile.
Well it was because I was watching the weather for Ike that I knew Sunday was going to be *** and humid. I thought that if I got out there early enough, it wouldn't be so bad.
Although I will say Monday and today were very gorgeous days. Well, a little cloudly but the temps were great.

Hi y'all, I asked Katie to help figure out what is wrong with the dang blasted thing. Dvds play fine. She couldn't help.
I would like to run, I have 2 pairs of running shoes. I have run once. Need to get motivated to do that. I even have Nancy's running rotation.
My family has all kinds of health issues, so I consider working out and eating a lifes style change. I read somewhere that life style change was a positive statement than dieting. (As I hear Susan Harris, isn't this better than dieting!)
Saundra have you tried Craigslist or Play It Again Sports for treadmill. Or perhaps garage sales.
It was ***/humid but overcast here. The temps cooled down. I did partial workouts before I went to meetings at Katie school-dripping wet. Then came home and finished.
Dave called yesterday from Cincinnati and the company he works for were on generators but hotel room had electricity. The Ohio state got hit pretty hard with high wind and rain.
Speaking of tvs, Dave is dying to get a new one. We kinda of sort of need one for upstairs where I work out. It takes forever to warm up for vhs tapes but not for dvds. I think the tv is like me, it takes forever to do anything :D But once I get goin'.....
Happy Over The Hump Day!

Good Morning Ladies.
From the Ground Up. I am placing this one (so far) second behind Steamin Cardio. I really liked this workout.
First I adore Heidi. She is very soothing. I love kickboxing. So that made the workout that much more enjoyable. I think I like all but two music tunes. I know one of those tunes was the tune that went with the final stretch. Overall though, love the music.
Working without shoes. For this workout, I didn't like that and the next time I do the workout, I will wear shoes. I felt unbalance on many of the moves. When I placed my foot on the tall step, the tall step was cold and I didn't like the texture of the tall step. The tall step that I was using is the Original FIRM 14in wood box. I could probably try a different tall step, (between the wood box, the fanny lifter and Cathe's High Step) I have three, but I don't think I would like to step on any of them barefoot.
I really like the ab work in the video as well.
Next Wednesday is Strong Bear.

Hey Gang!
Diane, good girl! see! remember it's alright to slip. my grandma died when she was only 56! my dad at 60. eye openers for me. alot of overweight & dare I saw obesity in my cousins. as for the bag of chips, been there, done that, a thousand times. sugar wasn't my only fault. I'm surprised that I actually wasn't fatter than I was getting. I'm pretty sure it was the Firm that kept some pounds at bay. Like you, I'm not looking for a perfect body, I just want to be fit & healthy. I probably would be better at 110 lbs, my teenage & 20's years, but, it is too hard to maintain. & besides, my opinion is as a woman gets alittle older, too skinny is kinda creepy looking? plus, I'm real cranky when I'm hungry all the time. Your at the point where I was a couple years back, where your just fed up about it, & you're ready to change it all. Remember not to overtrain, that makes you want to eat too much...& it's always the "bad stuff" you reach for.
Saundra, I've read about the difference with outdoor jogging & treadmill. It's a huge difference in calorie burn! You have the wind resistance, even if minute, & the different terrain that you just don't get on the treadmill.
yesterday, I jogged on the treadmill for a mile in 12 minutes. I figured that I would do 3 miles in 36 minutes & try & get close to you. After the first mile, not a chance. Powerwalked for 8 minutes, then did the next jog at a mile. Pretty well spent after that. Powerwalked till I reached 55 minutes, then jogged the last 5.
No where near ready for any scheduled event.
8 weeks, well that's encouraging. I guess I am getting better since I got the treadmill. When I first got it, I could barely jog for 3 minutes. After I got the powerwalking under control, I started intervalling with 5 minutes walk, 5 minute jog, etc, etc.
When is the 10 min/kettlebell supposed to be shipped? oh, it didn't say who was instructing yet? yeah, that is a good question? interesting. let me know when you find out. my kettlenetics shipped today, supposedly. now the wait.
uh, I love working out barefoot. guess, it's the westcoast hippy in me? they say it's good work for your feet. Strong Bear for next week, Tracie my hero! how many more do you have left? 3?
Annette, post Nancy's running rotation!!! please.
your post? so short? cat got your tongue?
did any of ya, watch the B.I.Ggest Loser?
again without sounding too mushy...I really have enjoyed chatting with the 3 of you! you are the nicest girls I've ever met online. sincerely. like Diane said in an earlier post, you have been also so encouraging & just something I look forward to reading first thing in the morning.

Hi Ladies:
Saundra I knew you would like From the ground up, now I want to see how you feel tomarrow I had aches and pains the next day. Even though I enjoy walking outside I do get a better workout on the treadmill. Outside I always worry about the traffic. So I don't keep up a good pace plus I walk with a friend who always tells me to slow down.
Lori I have to tell you I thought of you today when I went to my WW meeting, now I have only been attempting to give up the junk for a few days but I had a nice suprise when I weighed in today, I lost 1.8 and I really was expecting a gain especially since I didn't go for two weeks.
Annette I have been going to WW since May and I have really not lost any weight to speak of , I have been more focused on making that lifestyle change like you mentioned I am not one who can stay within my point range and lose weight. Even the leader today usually asks everyone how much they lost for the week, but with me she knows I am going for the change in behavior that will eventually lead to weightloss.
Lori I have not watcher Bi ggest loser this year, I must be watching something else. Should we start a new thread?

Hi y'all, I have been tryin' to follow the old Fitprime rotation, still can't get that vcr to work with sound. MEN! and their equipment. (I know that is a loaded statement within itself!)
I haven't really lost anyway, but toned up which is flusterating because I like getting on the scale for the "instant gratification" that I did something constructive for today.
When I do walk, I enjoy the Power Walk tapes with Susan Harris with weights. I put on my sunglasses and Clemson hat, good to go. The only thing is I have shorten my stride or otherwise I hurt my hip flexours.
I did Flexposture yesterday with Tamala. That is a great stretch workout, just what I needed.

Diane congratulations on the weight loss. Yep, the traffic is sometimes a problem. I run early enough on Sundays that not a lot of people are driving in my neighborhood. There is one area where there is a traffic light- so I definately have to pay attention there.
Annette, the Running rotation looks good. Unfortunately for me I don't have more than 1 day a week to give to running especially now that it is getter darker earlier. By the time I get home from work, the Sun is starting to set and I am not into that running at night thing. Maybe I will invest in another treadmill. Although if I do that I might give up on running outside.
Lori, it wouldn't let me type *** (b.i.g) either. I wonder what is wrong with that word. It put three asteriks in place of it. The 10 minute solution KB is showing a release date Dec 2, 08. I posted on Collage forum to see if anyone knew who the instructor was for this workout. Oh and by the way, it has been a pleasure knowing you as well. You're enthusiasm is contagious.
Yesterday after work I did the Power Blast workout from 10 minute solution Carb and Calorie Burner. So far this is my favorite of the 3 sections I have tried on this workout. I still have two more sections to do.
This morning I did Amy Bento's In the Ring.

Good Morning Friends!
Diane, I'm jumping up & down clapping! you deserve a pat on the back! yup, telling ya, the junk food is what hold's us back. the proof unfortunately IS in the pudding. the stuff is so calorie laden & just not worth it. keep telling yourself you can eat 3 peices of fruit (an apple, an orange, & a banana) versus 1 candy bar (example) the fruit will keep you fuller longer, the junk will make you hungry real fast. the junk makes you want more & more, it's a darn vicious cycle. the stuff is so addictive. now that you lost, you'll want to keep pushing. eventually like I said, you just get tired of your old self. I did anyway. & it does get easier. I never thought I'd get a gut ache from banquet desserts? Who'd a thunk? most junk now, when I taste it, it's so sickenly sweet or too salty. ( note the most)
remember, I keep telling ya, your allowed to screw up, but, just start over. that's the key. so simple, yet, we tend to make it all harder than it is. you've done good, you should be proud of yourself. almost 2lbs! especially the older we get! your on your way now, Diane. no stopping ya. Annette's so right, when she says lifestyle change. I didn't stop my bad habits, I just changed them. Instead of a bag of cheese doodles, I'd have a peice of whole grain toast with peanut ****er. about the same amount of calories, but, you know the different in quality, right? instead of a pint of Ben & Jerry's, I'd have a yogurt & strawberries. change is good, just replace, instead of giving up. so you never feel deprived. ok, I'll stop....I'm getting real preachy here again.
you can start a new post if you want, I'll be there. what do you want to call it? Saundra, said we didn't need to.
Annette, thanks for the rotation. Love the men & their equipment comment. you have the quickest mind. you need to go on comedy central! I'd love to meet you for a drink, you'd have me in stitches for sure! I really get a kick out of you.
sounds like the vcr bit the dust? will you have to take it in for repairs?
yesterday I did Kelsie's new pump, jump n jab. I loved it! when I crawled out of bed this morning, I was sore. it seemed relatively easy doing it. guess it got me still. I tried Dangerous Curves originally, got lost after about 11 min. the steps were fumbling me up? I will try it again Sat, like Saundra, give it the 1-2 attempt & your OUT! I'm itching to try the Kelsie's Kettlebell. Kelsie, looked so GOOD in the pump, n jab. She is so cut. I think Kelsie is the best cuer now out of the bunch.
Saundra, I bet if you got a treadmill now, you'd really miss running outdoors. But, it would be nice for when it's pouring rain or snowing.
guessing B.I.G. is a bad word here? LOL
Amy in the Ring, I'd be so totally lost. frustrated, I'm sure I'd look like a complete fool doing it. I can picture myself trying to follow.
the only thing close to kickboxing that I tried was Kathy Smith's old kickboxing dvd with Keith Cooke & Keli Roberts. which I could follow, & thoroughly enjoyed. but, I'm sure that's a lame-o for you! I used to love the Kathy Smith with Michael Olajide dvd. I loved the jump rope section on that dvd. tough, but alot of fun.
I'm really curious now, who might instruct that kettlebell 10 min dvd?
I agree, you 3 gals, have much improved my goals on my own health & fitness. yes indeed, very motivating.
I like how we all check in each morning. one by one, I'm always last. All 3 of you on the east coast?

Hi y'all, I can get running in, if I do in the morning. But I usually crash and burn 2 minutes later. I think I have just gotten in the habit of evening workouts because of my son and his homework. Now that he doesn't need me, it is out of habit. I could run in the afternoons if Andrew doesn't have practice. Saundra, you need to motivate me and make me do. I know Dale Brabham runs once a week usually on Sunday.
Y'all are welcome for the rotations! I still want to do the 90 Day.....:D
I try and limit junk food buy getting healthy junk food, like Red *** Blues (which I devour BY MYSELF) :D. The kids are *** on Cheerios and Kashi cereal which I like in ice cream. I do keep an apple in the car to keep me sane drivin' home. People in SC think 26 and 20 is Darlington Speedway!
We have a fresh food stand not to far from the house, which I load up on fresh fruit and veggies in season. Or sometimes the grocery store will have a sale. Lately I have been on this salad kick with apples, pecans, cheese and Catalina dressing. A variation from Al Amirs Summer Salad.
If y'all are ever in town, we must go. The food is fresh. Very strict Muslums, so they don't sell wine, beer and liquour.
I have a few of Amy's which I am selling, I have just too many. I can't get into her stepping workouts. My brain just can't function plus kinda got spoiled by Firm, Cathe, Gin and Keli. I can get into some kickboxing but my feet and brain don't always coordinate!
Yep I am on the east coast in SC. About 30-45 minutes from both The Firm and BodyFit.
Lori don't worry about being last....the last shall be first, and first shall be last. :D Of course I am in last place or run late so often, I feel like I am first. I guess because I was born 2 weeks early and been late ever since. I have changed denomination and church because it is 6 minutes away! :D
And because I posted, you are no longer last-hey what are friends for!

Hi Ladies:
Annette I find myself getting lazy about eating the veggies and fruit, I have to make an extra effort to make sure I get them in, when I don't I think my brain is out of wack. I took care of the garden this year so there was no excuse for not having vegetable sI am kind of glad the season is almost over the garden was hard work, evn though I think I flatten my abs weeding the garden.
I really don't follow any kind of rotation, I know each week is weights/aerobics twice a week, a straight cardio, yoga and the treadmill along with some walking mixed in here and there.
Lori I just ordered Kelsie's 2 workouts, Amazon reduced the prices of both by a couple of dollars. Yes I also live on the East coast.
Do you ladies take vitamins I swear there is something in the vitamins I am taking I have been going to sleep so late and only sleeping 5 or 6 hours. I ordered some from vitamin Shoppe I am going to try them and see if there is any change.
Saundra it sound like you have quite a variety of workouts your self, I get stuck in a workout rutt sometimes I thinkg my problem is I don't branch out to different workout I usually stay with what I know. How did you get into running? Thats something I never got into, sometimes on the treadmill but thats about it.
Diane
I did Push/Pull today and I swear some of the same moves were in Metaboost, it felt like I did the same workout twice this week.

Diane I can be lazy too about eating veggies and fruit. You are so not alone. I try to get baby carrots and pre-cut fruit when possible. Or if I am cutting fruit put into baggies, so I can get it out w/o cutting everytime. I am soooo allegeric to the kitchen!
I was taking vitamins and supplements. I have a brand new box never been opened in the cabinet of women's supplements. I go through spells of taking vitamins and supplements.
I will get in a rut as well, so I make myself do rotations and then take a week off to do my favorite ones. Metaboost and Upper Body gives me the DOMS *** time! I have been lifting very heavy this week. It most be almost that TOM. I tend to have more energy and can't sleep even though I don't have a period per se, but the symptoms are still there.
Oh yeah, my brain is always out of whack, when I find it, that could be dangerous. LOL! TGIF!

Diane, I take Andrew Lessman vitamins. They don't make me sleepy but they do make me go to the bathroom quite frequently.
The reason that I got into running has more to do with keeping my eating in check that actually exercising. I would sign up for a running event (usually a 5K) so that I would have something "out there" to work towards. So I would have a training regiment which includes an eating plan. While I haven't made significant leaps forward, I haven't slip back either. Basically I am maintaining.
I also sign up for Fitness trips for this same reason. It gives me a goal. It keeps me in the health and fitness frame of mind. In July I went on the Cathe Road Trip and had a marvelous time. In October, I am going on the FIRM trip.
Truthfully speaking as far as running goes, I could probably leave it. I used to have to run all the time when I was in the military. It when of those activities that is harder to start, but once you get going you feel great and when it is over, you feel accomplished.
Lori, I have that Kathy Smith Kickboxing workout. I think both parts are quite good. I am not really a good kickboxer, my form sometimes is horrible. I just like doing it and in the privacy of my own home, who cares what I look like. Although I will say, when I was on the Cathe RT. I was right next to Jai. So I was really trying to do the moves precisely. Jai was absolutely awesome.
Annette, Amy's stepping workouts are definately a challenge. I have yet to master them but I am determine to do so.
Have a great day ladies. Today is my rest day.

Hooray it's Friday!!!!
nothing exciting here to report.
Diane, I just take the women's One A Day vitamins.
sleeping not so good. but, I blame that on the perimenopause? I used to sleep like a rock, not so in the past few years.
Saundra, you were in the military. how cool is that? tell us more. when? what & the how of it? you seize to amaze me. enjoy your rest day.
Annette, thanks for posting first. I wish we could meet & go to that market!
Annette, you enjoy your football day tomorrow, right?
have a great weekend girls!

Hi Ladies:
I think my sleep problem is from the vitamins I was taking Centrum performance and I didn't take them today and I am feeling very tired and not as much energy I felt like crashing by the afternoon. But the test it when its time for sleep I will just have to see.
Today was the treadmill along with some ab work along with a stretching workout and later on a 30 minute walk.
Saundra I also have both Kathy Smith Kickboxing I like Cathe better though.
I never went to any of the road trips almost once, but then I chicken out I didn't feel comfortable enough with myself.
Lori today was a harder day with eating but I just took it as a off day, now tomarrow is the day I have to watch I can't continue what I did today into tomarrow.
Annette you are to funny, I did have those baby carrots today.
Lori was the weather cooler for you today? It was cooler here I wore a jacket all day.
Ladies I don't always know what the abbreviations are so don't be suprised if I ask, sometimes I can be a ditz . My sister's mother-in-law was talking about a drink that she liked to have Rye and Ginger, I asked her what the Ginger was, I am thinking why in the world would she put ginger in a drink (yes I was thinking of the spice) they all look at me and said. ginger ale. Can you tell I don't drink.
I don't usually workout on the weekends my hubby has been building our house so I usually go with him on Saturday and Sunday boy it's been taking so long.

Lori, I was in the Navy for 11 years. I joined right out of high school. It was great while I was in it but I am glad to be out now.
Diane, I never feel comfortable with myself when I go on these trips. Mostly because I never reach the goal I set for myself. I always think that I can be in better shape. But the trips are so much fun and motiivating. And 50% of the women who attend are struggling with their weight, their fitness and even their health. I know on one of the trips I attended, we had two ladies recovery from breast cancer. The majority of the people are very nice. The others - we don't care about them anyway.
This morning I worked out to Cathe Low Impact Circuit. I did the whole workout and this is a long workout. Actually anything over 55 minutes, I considered to be long.
Okay, I will be spending my day and tomorrow catching up on homework. I have so much homework to do.

Hey gang!
Diane, just ask about the abbreviations. I keep typing DH & your probably wondering what the heck I'm talking about, right? DH = darling husband.
today is the day alright to monitor what goes in your mouth. follow up day, as I like to call them. when I over did it the day before, you can make up for it the next day. no worries. ya, it's raining here now. I think our summer is over now.
Saundra, 11 years! how cool is that! ok, now homework? you got more explaining to do! what kind of homework? tell me more about the Navy. what was it like? where did you go? when I was a kid, I was in Sea Cadets. I really, really liked it, but didn't keep on with it. wish I did now.
now I don't feel so bad trying to compete with the likes of you! your some Navy Seal girl!!! how come your glad to be out it now? I'm guessing 11 years is a long time to be in the Navy, isn't it? gosh, your family must be real proud of you.
yesterday, I jogged for 1 1/2 miles! I did it!!! hip-hip hooray. then I powerwalked for a mile, then.....ta da, I jogged for another mile, then power walked again for 1/2 mile & finished with another 1/2 mile jog! my best ever. I'm bragging here. all in 1 hour. It was 4.6 something miles. I was soaking wet, but felt so darn good after. gonna, shoot for that again next week. I'm bound & determined to jog the full hour. no intervalling with power walk.
catch you all again soon. oh, I did the Kelsie's kettlebell dvd, I loved it, except up to the very end. I wasn't fussy on those Turkish ab things. I really couldn't complete them properly. other than that, I thought it was a good workout. I'm thinking I could use a heavier kettlebell. the set, I ordered from kettlenetics is supposed to come with an 8lber. will try it with that, to beef it up. didn't seem heavy enough.

Hi y'all,
Okay I didn't workout at all yesterday, I thought Dave was upstairs in the playroom/study/workout room/store extra stuff in, but he was in the bed reading. Anyhow, didn't workout on Friday. Saturday, well let me put it this way, the yoga mat is so paved.....I went garage "saling" today.
Dave needed a TV table for the kids outside, found that. Found an Eason baseball for Andrew (very expensive bat, he told me for 1.00), New Balance cleats for 50 cents. Got Katie a pair of USC shorts and bracelet. Did find an electric *** pot, to brew tea and *** chocolate for 1.00. I found a neat round container with compartments and lid. I thought it would be great when I chop fruit and cheese for our light meal on Sunday (we have fruit and cheese and wine on Sunday night after kids get out of CCD). So it wasn't a bad day.
Andrew's game started early, but they played well. They won! YES! Andrew was a little upset though because he doesn't really know offensive plays that well, and caused a foul. Coach wasn't too upset though.
I meandered to my neighbors house we girls talked health, fitness, nutrition, etc. It was such a nice day to sit and chat with the women. Since Clemson wasn't on TV and USC plays later on pay for view, it was great. The weather was wonderful!
Sleep what is that. There are some nights I sleep better than others. This week has been hit and miss for sure. Check your vitamin bottle,if it contains chromium take in the morning. Chromium has a tendancy to keep one awake. And at times raises heart beat. Sometimes I do have problems with chromium, other days not. I get the Dollar General vitamins and split in half.
Saundra, I love it when y'all come to Columbia, it makes my day. And I look forward to it. I think it is pretty neat! I think because our trips are smaller and more intimate. Not sayin' anything against Cathe, but there is a large group of women. I hope I can meet everyone here on this site, and soon!
Not sayin' anything against Cathe. Speakin' of Cathe, I did Low Impact this week as well. That clocks in around 70 minutes. Saundra, what are you studying?
Lori, Diane, and Saundra, thanks for workin' out for me, I'll crack myself on Sunday to workout!
Lori
September 20th, 2008, 12:15 PM
Annette, wow! I'd like to go garage sale'n with you! you did good!
ok, what is CCD? I wish I could meet you all. be nice if we could come over Sunday Annette for some of your wine & cheese.
gone to watch some tv, drink my tea. done for the day myself. visited my grandma for a couple hours. she's 88 in Nov. it's always very dramatic & draining. don't get me wrong, she lives on her own still & is in really good health. but, it's always hard to leave. I always feel guilty, should'a stayed longer. I don't visit her enough, & always feel bad about that. she lives a couple of hours away & we don't have much in common to talk about. always a struggle.
Annette, you sound like such a nice mom too. oh, & you are allowed to have a day off from working out Annette! that's allowed.
Sunday is my rest & cheat day. maintenance day, I call it. laundry, vaccuuming, get set for the week.

Lori, I am just at a different place in my life right now that the regimented military lifestyle does suit. When I was in the Navy, I was station on Guam, then Portugal, then Florida, then a tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean called (Diego Garcia) then back here in the states - Virginia. I was never on a ship, all of my assignment were land based. It all seems so long ago now.
I am taking all of these Office 2007 classes - four classes to be exact. They are online. Two of the classes I am caught up in but that is because the classes have required work that has to be turn in weekly. The same teacher is teaching my access and word class, and she doesn't require anything to be turn in until mid semester. I had her last semester too and she did the same thing. So I tend to get behind in her classes because I don't have things to turn in weekly.
I am not really studying for anything particular. Just every semester I try to to take a couple of classes in whatever suits me.
Annette, while I had fun on the Cathe Roadtrip, I do agree with you, there were alot of people. I think 105 on the trip I took. It does make it harder to get to know everyone. And you are welcome. I will workout for you any time.
Checking in with 3 miles ran. Still hovering around the 35 minute mark. I need to take a stop watch with me so I can be more precise in my time. I just look at the clock when I leave and when I come back. This morning I left at 8:23 and got back at 9:03. I usually walk for about 4 minutes to warm up and then start running. Not that I actually know it 4 minutes because I don't where a watch but I walk to a certain point and then start running and then I stop at a certain point and walk a short distance back to my home.
Also did Cathe's Total Body Stretching 1 workout.
Oh Lori, good job on the 1 1/2 mile jog. That was the distance I had to run in the military. I think at the time, I had 16 min and 45 seconds to do it in.

Hi y'all, I understand about drama queens and drainers. Have to smile and keep on goin'. CCD is religious ed in the Catholic church. Katie is in the process of Confirmation.
There are days when I want to hang up "momma's hat" and run away. Perhaps that is why I am dreamin' of my convertiable :D...the closest is my sunroof. Anytime for wine, cheese and fruit. I did use my new container today. Dave broke tradition and got Hungry Howie's pizza. So it was a cheat day allll the way round.
Did manage to get 2 loads of laundry done. And piddle, I don't clean per se. I piddle. Domestic Diva I am not!
Saundra, one of Katie's teachers was a police woman in the service. I forgot which branch. Much success in your studies! I need to bone up on Excel, any ideas or resources?
Finally got a chance to try Advanced Kabbalah yoga. It goes by quick and prior knowledge about yoga in general is must. I nailed the crow pose,,,,,even though by the time I finished, they were ahead 5 poses :D....Some of the wheel poses I couldn't do. My wrists are still weak. Then I did Steamin' Cardio with Heidi. I nailed the bootcamp, which reminds me of jumps from downward dog to both feet. Yep my thighs were steamin, as Heidi would say.
Here are some receipe ideas:
Stuff Chicken with apples and oranges. Season with garlic, lemon or lime with pepper, cinnamon, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, and ginger. I call in yin/yang chicken. Bake as normal.
Alfredo sauce with orzo pasta and mixed veggies I tried today. The frozen kind with califlower, broccoli and carrots. I did the pasta first, added the sauce (white sauce from Ragu) and veggies. It is not the healthiest receipe but I rationalize the sauce because of the milk and protein aspects.
We had chocolate pie for dessert, of course I rationalize that as well. :D And I had my Sunday nap. I have to keep youthful you know. Naps are must! The world would be a better place, if people will just take a nap, do yoga and have a beer! ;]-
Lori and Diane, y'all have to come to our road trips. I enjoy meeting the women that I have met through the Forums. We have a great group of women.
Y'all have a great week!
Lori
September 21st, 2008, 01:59 PM
Annette, I would so love to go on one of those trips. especially to meet the 3 of you. I doubt that would ever happen. I'm way to far away. I had a *** Mac Combo for supper. & it was so good, bad, but good.
Crow pose, that is one I can never do. my **** is too ***, I think for my puny arms. my triceps aren't strong enough. man you worked off your **** off! are you gonna be able to walk in the morning?
Annette, your always making me hungry with your menus!
I think your kids are lucky to have you. you really are a good momma, I can tell how you talk about your family. it just shows. real nice, especially nowadays.
Annette, I heard about a plane crash with some famous M.C. & Travis Barker? is that near you? the pilot, co-pilot & 2 other passengers died? the 2 survivors are in grave condition?
are there some real annoying people in those classes? tell the truth!
Saundra, my 1 1/2 mile was alittle over 18 minutes. this was a first for me. It was because of you. I'm such a competive little sucker & I was pushing it. but, I felt like frickin' Rocky after I did it. I was darned amazed that I did it. I just have been struggling to get over that 1 mile jog. obviously I've been wimping out, when I should have kept trying harder.
your Navy life sounds so interesting. bet you have alot of memories. I just couldn't do it. I'm not brave enough for starters & I'd be a *** cry baby, I know it.
I'm always impressed & rather amazed at someone like yourself who is courageous enough to get into the Army or Navy. somewhat of a fantasy for me. I wish I had the guts.
what a real life learning experience though. 11 years is a long time.
good for you on the studies, keeps the brain sharp.
goodness, you guy's are making me feel like such a slacker. I'm telling ya, since talking to you 3, I've picked up my socks some!
I didn't work out today, nor will I be able to tomorrow. got an early hair appointment. this is a first for me, for having 2 rest days. probably will do my body good. haven't let up in years. I was really looking forward to trying that again on my treadmill though. I will shoot for it Tues. should be well rested.
Diane, where'd you go? busy weekend?

Annette, not sure about Stuff Chicken with apples and oranges but the Alfredo Sauce with Orza Pasta sounds good.
Lori, Canada is not too far. There are at least three women I know who have made the trek from Canada. Every 3 or 4 months I try to give my body two rest days.
This morning I worked out to a FIRM Favorite Maximum Body Shaping.

Saundra, guess it isn't too far. are any from the west coast? I'm not much of a traveller to be honest. I always want my own bed & food. I would be much better if I could visit & then time travel back home at the end of the day.
so much for 2 days rest. my hairdresser called in sick. re-scheduled for tomorrow. later appointment too.
I ended up on the treadmill. I did 4.6 miles in a hour. close to past Friday's workout. getting better alright.
Tracie is so good on that dvd (Maximum Body Shaping) it's one of my favorites too.
wondering again about vol 2 & 3? did you all pre-order also?
probably should have rested. I'm so addicted to working out now. sometimes I think it's not good, or healthy, mental-wise also?

Hi Ladies:
Lori did I ever ask where you live in Canada, I have been to Montreal and Niagra falls and Windsor sorry for the misspells if any.
yes my weekend was busy I am getting a little frustrated with this house stuff I want it finished already and forget the portapotty, we had to get one because the town would not give us a bulding permet other wise, but anyway no one uses it so if it dirty it's because of myself well someone has been using it and it's just plan grossing me out whoever it is, is such a pig one day I couldn't even use it.
I am not one for traveling either I usually have bathroom issues and I always forget my own pillow. But hey if you want to do a get together let me know. How can you last 1 hour on the treadmill I just get so bored sometimes. I actually did order 2 & 3 and also the Hare and Tortise.
Annette today I did fitprime (upper body) and your right, I dreaded it, usually I liked it but today I think it has to many arm rows and to many push ups there are other arm exercises that were not included in this workout the could have been used. maybe I was just thinking of you when I did it.
I hate cleaning especially vacuuming and dusting, the bathroom has to be clean and I will usually clean the kitchen and of course I have no choice about the laundry.
Saundra I am with you I really don't like fruit in my food I always get yelled at Try something different, its just not for me.
Maxuim body shaping one of my favorites to.
I like the workouts that are 40 to 50 minutes, when its over an hour I feel like I am always looking at the clock, some of those Cathe workouts and a couple of the Firm's are just to long thank goodness for premixes.
Ladies are there some moves that you can't just do? For me some are Air jacks and for some reason lifting one foot and doing a pelvic tuck while squeezing the ball somethings I just keep at it until I get but others I just have to motify .

Hi y'all,
I did Bryan Kest's Energize for yoga. Something about his hair back then turns me on! :D
I don't know about being a good momma, my horns were stickin' out today. I get so tired of kids and their mess. I cleaned and organzied the rooms, closest, etc. and it looks like Hurricane Ike came in. Katie missed takin' school pictures, so much for calmness doing yoga today. Andrew was upset because I washed his uniform, it take so much energy to put his pads in. Gee whiz and it is only Monday.
I did hear about the plane crash on Saturday. Dave told me. That was sad, I was down in 5 Points doing an errrand where the band was playing later on that night. So much was going on Saturday. The Greek Festival, ***/******* Parade, USC game and Andrew's game. And that was on top of garage saling! Needless to say I did the garage sale and then Andrew's game.
I hate cleaning as well, but I do a power clean before Dave comes home on Thursday and by Friday it looks like several tornadoes have hit the house. But I did manage to take some items to Goodwill and Children's Charity. I have some items to take. The more clutter I clean out, the more it comes out the walls.
Y'all have to come and bring pillow! I don't travel well either but I try and make the best of it. I can't leave home without my bankie...Andrew has that honest. The women I have met are very nice and supportive.
I enjoy Maximum Sculpting with Tracie. Done in 45 minutes. There are days when 45 minute workout is all I can handle. The beauty of Upper Body (The Firm) is that Anna circuits that workout. So you start with cardio, shoulders, abs. Cardio, arms, abs or something like that. There are a lat rows,so I start with 15, 20, 25, 30. That last set of arms/cardio with Tamala gets me everytime! It was an "aha" moment when I realized that. The workout that really gets me legs fried is Standing Legs.
Upper Body with Keli is a great one, that one gets me major DOMS.
Working out according to one source is a "postive addiction." I know if I don't workout for a few days, I feel miserable. And it is like starting over again.
About my chicken, I take a whole chicken and stuff with oranges and apples. I have also stuffed with green peppers and onions. If I have any left over, makes a wonderful chicken salad. I use Miracle Whip, sutherners tend to use Duke Mayo.
I was dropping my items at the Children's Thrift and was looking for a pair of jeans (didn't find). Anyway, the woman there was talking to me about how much weight she had lost and wanted to tone up.....of course I had to tell her about working out. I must be a magnet lately for working out.
Y'all have a great night!
Lori
September 23rd, 2008, 02:06 AM
oh Annette, you crack me up! you have such a quick mind! I can just picture the wheels a turnin' in your mind! I love chicken al'a orange, so... & I will say this, I'm known around the family as, "garbage guts". nice hey? I can eat anything & everything, no one here let's me be the judge of anything, because I literally like everything.
Annette, your too modest, I don't think you've ever been stumped on a Firm question. you are a wealth of info.
yep, plane crashes, really sad. I wonder how that DJ & Travis Barker guy's are doing?
does Dave travel alot? goes out of town? beside me on a plane once, was this huge, muscle bound, wrestler looking guy, who brought his own pillow. He told me, "he didn't like hotels pillows, because they were full of other peoples bugs". LOL, he looked like the last person you would think of packing around his own pillow.
ahhh, Mr. Kest, yes, he indeed is a hottie. I laughed the other day, when you mentioned Gino Vanelli. you were so right. Annette, I think you must have a thing for curls? LOL
Diane, I live in British Columbia. a suburb real close to Vancouver. right on the west coast. straight up above California, right above Washington. we're so excited here, because we're hosting the winter Olympics in 2010. you'll all see where I live then, if you watch the Olympics.
I must be like a hamster on the treadmill? I don't mind it?
are you remodeling or building a new house?
I modify lots of stuff. I have trouble with bridges on a tall step & when you have to lift one leg straight up in the air, & keep it there. lots of other things, but can't think of them right now.
I ordered Tortoise & The Hare too.
Saundra, do you have other kettlebell workouts, aside from Kelsies?
I'm so excited, my cc was finally charged for the kettlenetics.
talk to you all again soon.

Lori, If I can get the package that I want, I will actually be coming to Vancouver to see the Olympics in person, but ony if I can get Figure Skating. Packages go on sale Oct 3. I am sure they are going to be the first to sell out or the price will be beyond my range or I will get really bad seats which defeats the purpose. I am a *** Olympics fan - summer and winter. For my summer web class, I actually did my website on the city of Vancouver. Here's the link.
http://student.ccbcmd.edu/~cmcdan21/website/. The website could be better but the summer term is a short term and I only had 4 weeks to work on it.
I know Jackie lives in western Canada (I think Alberta). Sandra the other lady I know lives in Toronto.
Annette sorry the chicken with the oranges and apples still don't sound good.:p
Speaking of cleaning, I just bought me a roomba and a scooba. The roomba works great -it vacuums for me. I haven't tried the scooba yet, but I need to try it to make sure it works. I get 30 days to try them out.
Diane, Diane Diane. You think you are picky about public bathrooms and portabelly, I am very picky myself. I carry the travel size clorox wipes and toilet seat covers in my purse. It truly amazes me how nasty some women can be.
There are so many moves that I have to modify. I do try to try moves at least once or twice before I decide I can't do them or don't want to. The split air jumps that Cathe has us do is one example.
Lori, I heard about the plane crash on the satellie radio staion I listen too. I listen to Siriius Octane a lot. They said that two of the people were members of a band ( I forget which band). Also, I don't have any other KB workouts other than Kelsie's. And Yes I did pre-order Vol 2 and 3 Tortoise and Hare.
Well - working out - I was supposed to do CIA 2805 Hi Low Knockout this morning, but I was running way behind. I am actually out working in West Virginia today. So instead I did 10 Minute Solution Perfect Pilates Body the first 3 section. I really like the workout so far. I might order more workouts from Susanne Bowen. I am going to try to do HI Lo tonight when I get home.
Tomorrow is Strong Bear I think.

Lori:
We are actually building a house, Its taking longer than I thought it would,
my hubby has to stop every now and then to do a job, I really can't complain because money is money. Even though I love how its coming out I think I would have rather bought some beat up old house and remodeled it. I will have to post some pictures for you. He does most of the work himself with help of course the only thing he hasn't done so far is the plumbing which I wasn't going to allow him to do anyway he stinks at it.
Saundra I am glad I am not the only one who carries cleaning stuff around.
Strong bear one of my favorites but I have trouble with the sideways leg press. One of those modification.
I have been doing kickbox one a week today was from the cross train express series the cardio and abs only.

laughing my head off here, I beat you all. I refuse to go in public restrooms. truth be known, I totally dehydrate myself now, for fear of having to pee! really annoys my husband.
rarely, rarely do I go out in public. it's true, women's washrooms are way worse than the men's. I have gone in the men's a couple of times & was shocked to see how clean they were compared to the women's!
Saundra, that is so cool! I love the summer & winter Olympics. my parents used to make us watch as much as we could since we were very small. not only is it fun to watch the athletes, I love learning about each city. good luck on the ice skating tickets. got my fingers crossed for you. your right about them, being super tough to get. those & the hockey venues. (especially here). already a huge buzz about them. they do say though, that the out of towners have an easy chance of getting tickets.
Saundra, so far which do you like better? the Originals or the newer Fitprimes?
West Virginia working? doing what? goodness, Saundra you lead the life? can't keep up with you! My husband worked in Buchannon (is that spelled right?) West Virginia. he sent me gorgeous pictures from there. He loved it there. Says he'll take me there one day. hmmm..
gone to check out your link.
Diane, do post the picture's when you get a chance. what kickbox dvd did you do?
Annette, pass some of that chicken on over here! close to lunch time for me.

Saundra, you brought tears to my eyes! that link is awesome. made me proud. I sure hope you get to come here. I know you'll love it. One of the best places on earth. where else can you get to snow ski or water ski all in the same day? there is so much to do here. really nice place to visit in the summer too. looks totally different. (cause of it being a rainforest). I love how you had our "spirit bear". you captured so much.
I loved reading it.
our wildlife is spectacular too. eagles, grizzlies, bears & whales, you name it.
Got to know alot more about you too. I love your Navy picture! I mean how cool is that? & the one with Cathe. & Saundra, your workout stuff is "bitchin"! your giving Annette a run for her money!
if you do get to come here, we gotta hook up for sure. & if there's ever anything you want, need you give me a shout.
it's nice to know you'll be watching the Games too, if not here in person, on tv at least. everyone here is trying real hard, getting ready. I think pretty much everyone in this Province is so excited. The rest of Canada is too. Ready to represent the country. Hope it's a good one (Games).
geesh, that's so weird. it is a small world after all? funny really.
found out Saundra's our resident nomad! Diane, you get in Saundra's suitcase & come visit me. & you too Annette, pack that stuffed chicken & oranges, apples. don't forget your pillows! my bathrooms are spotless! you can eat Annette's chicken off the floors! I'm like Felix Unger from the Odd Couple. kidding. (not really, I'm pretty bad) self admitted neat freak.
bug you all later. gotta start supper.

Hi ladies:
Saundra I was always curious about online courses I used to get advertisements all of the time. How are the prices compared to actually going to an actual class room if you don't mind me asking. I think you did a nice job on the site I would not even know how to even start one.
Lori do you ski? I tried it with my hubby he loved it I couldn't wait to get the things off. I used to like ice skating but didn't do it very often. now I would probably fall flat on my face. Lori if I ever get the opportunity I am there.

Hi y'all, I did The Hare today, can't wait until it comes out on dvd. This one sneaks up on ya and drenched in sweat. I did 7lb ankle weights with a 12lber on top for legs.
Dave does travel, he has been in Cincinnati for a year and a half. We were their last year. This year we went to Winston-Salem.
Dave is also from the west coast. He was born in Napa Valley, CA. His sister lives in CA, his parents, brother and sister live near Portland, OR. I was there during Kirk Kerbane suicide and Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding mess. His parents and brother have come to the east coast.
About the bathrooms, hover squats, hover squats, hover squats!
I picked up a quiche for supper, me likes, kids don't. Oh well. Can't be perfect all the time.

Diane, no I don't ski. I can ski & skate, but I don't really like the snow, ice & cold. not a fan of scarves, bulky coats & toques. messes my hair & I don't like a runny nose. I'd rather watch from the clubhouse with a h.o.t chocolate. I wish I could have you all down here! I'd show you a good time. there's so much we could do here.
Diane, when do you hope to have your home finished?
have you tried that Firm Cardio to Go jumprope dvd yet? curious as to what you thought?
my husband is a great skiier. an ever better hockey player. we're pretty much opposite in he doesn't like the heat. I could lay on the beach & cook myself in the sun for hours.
I thought of you yesterday Diane, my husband said the same thing as you. "How can you jog so long on the treadmill?" "You must be crazy". "Aren't you bored after a 1/2 hour"?
it's becoming addictive, I really do think I'm in a zone/zombie like a real gerbil or hamster!? LOL
Annette, you nailed it! thank you, so much Anna for the much needed training of Hover Squats! boy have they come in handy! I tell ya.
I love quiche too. wonder why men don't like it? kids too, huh?
my DH works out of town (& the country) alot too. he just starts next week working back home again. been a few years.
I find it's hard to adjust, because I get so used to being on my home. we have our 25 year anniversary coming up on Oct 8. but, I have known him since I was 13.
I'm looking forward mostly to The Tortoise. I haven't done that workout for ages. I really miss it. It was one of my favorites.
oh yes, the beloved Kurt Cobain. that guy is still considered a saint in this neck of the woods!? (just a bunch of screaming to me? but, I'm an old fogey I admit).
LOL, the Kerrigan & Harding circus! bet you Saundra liked all the drama? oh people are so silly aren't they?
gonna give that Dangerous Curves another s.h.o.t today. I jogged on the treadmill for 3 1/2 miles & powerwalked for 1 yesterday. my legs were feeling it this morning. was happy with the scale though. must have burned a ton of calories.
catch you all later. have a good one!
seems we aren't able to type h.o.t or s.h.o.t either?

Thanks ladies
The hard part was limiting myself as to what to include. And of course time constraints because the summer semester is so short.
Lori, what struck me the most was your geography and how it contributed to the moderate temperatures you have.
Diane, I am taking credit courses so they cost the same as physically attending a class. If you do non-credit courses, they are cheaper. I am taking classes at my local Community College and I think they are pretty reasonable. I think it is $90 dollars per credit - so for a typical class its about $320. That includes all the fees. What it doesn't include are the textbooks. Now text books are expensive, I think ridiculously so.
Also, at least last year anyway, I was able to take a deduction for the classes on my taxes.
Annette, I can hover squat now but when I was super heavy that was hard. But your post made me laugh.
Okay Strong Bear. I am going to have to go back and do Kick****'s Strong Bear so I can compare Tracie and Keli's remarks. I know it's a remake but it seem like Keli used exactly the sames words as Tracey. Maybe that was done in the other remakes but I didn't pick up as much of it in Steamin Cardio and From the Ground up. I would have thought that the new person would have injected their own personality.
The work out itself. I will start by saying I didn't have a lot of patience this morning. So in several spots I thought the workout crept along. It was slow. Althougth I think that was the intent of Strong Bear - to be slow and deliberate. I cut the workout short by about 10 minutes.
However, I do like it - particularly the outer thigh work and surprisingly the burpees didn't bother me. Normally I hate this exericse in any type of workout, but I liked Tracie's twist on it.
So to rank in order of like thus far:
Steamin Cardio
From the Ground UP
Strong Bear
Weights First
Core First
Up and Down
I think one of you asked me which do I like better, "the original or WHFN". Workout wise, I really don't have a preference. Visually, I prefer WHFN.
Saundra
Lori
September 24th, 2008, 04:36 AM
hey Saundra, I like them in the order you posted also. I like the Originals for their toughness, but, I still choose the whfn's more often. must be the visual. I'm glad I have both collections, they really work well off each other.
burpee's hate them. I think Tracie & Kelsie are the best at teaching them. They give you precise & slow movement enough to be able to do them. IMO
your so observant. I like how you catch all the details on everything.
everybody assumes that it would be really cold here. being Canada, & then so very north. but, we get alot of the warm air from Hawaii, straight off the Pacific Ocean. yet, the cold sticks right where we want it, in the mountains.
there are alot of bad parts with that, we get alot of the other province's homeless. because it's warm here. & plus it rains a whole lot here. David Dukovony (not sure of the spelling) from X-files hated it here, because of all our rain. & it's also very expensive here. we have high taxes 12%.
I hope you get your tickets. your right about getting the right seats though. especially for skating, if the seats are crappy, the skaters look like ants on the white ice from so far away. yep, what's the whole point?

Hi y'all, okay can you guess what I did today. If you thought Tortoise, I did this one. I think this is the toughtest besides Tought Tape 1, Cardio/Strength with Heidi/Pam. I get latter 2 mixed up.
I was tooo lazy to change weights, so I kept my bar around 28lbs not including the Danskin barbell. I don't have a Firm or padded barbell. So I really got in the shoulders. I did lat rows at 20, too lazy to get 25 or 30. I surpised myself doing 15 tricep over the head. I like this one because I can pyramid. I did triceps kickbacks at 5 and then 8. Bicep curls at 15 then 20, or either 12 then 15. Those leg presses are killer. If my behind ain't lifted by now....I need a car jack!
Tracie had me laughing, stick your chest out and lift. I am thinkin' honey if I stuck my chest out I wouldn't be able to lift. And then Tracie says, "building cleavage." Of course, I wish there was an exercise NOT to build cleavage.
I do think yoga helps me to lift stronger and heavier because I am warmed up. Plus I can focus better. I did Baron this morning, Unlocking the Inner Athlete. Something has to be unlocked!
Saundra I like your order of the old Fitprimes. I was doing Strong Bear with Tracie, when my neighborhood boy came up the stairs looking for Andrew. I had my ankle weights with legs spread wide open. He just stared for a minute and asked, "does that hurt." I hope I don't have to pay for counseling in the near future.
One difference I have noticed is the old Fitprimes move a little bit faster. The newer ones have a different flow, fluid motion. I like them both. My vcr is working! YES! So I can start with older Fitprimes again.
You can reallly zone out on a treadmill. When I was on vacation I did about 45 minutes with weights. People were looking me like I was crazy. But I was gettin' goin'.
I think our taxes are around 7%. For that percentage we should have a rebate on working our equipment! See this is why I need to run for President!

Hi, everyone...I'm a newbie and the nice ladies invited me over here for a chat...
Quick review - new here but a Firmer off and on for the last 8 years or so. Love the original Firm videos, especially Tracie Long's leadership, so when I heard about this site on the Firm forums, I came over and ordered Strong Bear and Weights First. LOVE them both, and MAN, did they kick my behind. I am so familiar with most of the Firm moves, and there were only 2-3 moves here that I knew, so I was in ***-time muscle confusion. Awesome, awesome workouts and I am just so happy to have new videos with Tracie at the helm. Am planning to order Strong Cheetah and another one - any suggestions? And will of course get Tortoise and Hare on DVD.
Have been off my own rotation here for a couple of days due to various factors, one of the ***gest being a desperate need for new shoes. I have worn Rykas for years, love them to bits, but nobody around here carries them, so the last pair I got were Avias. Good enough, but just not what I need. So now that I have worn them out with my new (last 6-7 months) workout schedule, I decided to bite the bullet and drive up to St. Louis to get a new pair of Rykas. Long story short - everyone had running and walking shoes, no one had Ryka aerobic/cross trainer shoes and especially not the kind I wanted, nothing else even came close. So I had to order them from Lady Footlocker, but they came in today and though it's silly to love material things I just want to kiss them. :) They are sooo comfortable, I can't wait to try them out tomorrow.
So...I have a couple of questions...one is if I have two more videos to buy, what would they be? Strong Cheetah and...I have a ton of Firm videos, and actually have a lot of sculpt videos and cardio videos - am looking for those that are more Tortoise/Hare variety, or like the Firm classics (I did Body Sculpting Basics on Sunday and that is one of the few videos that STILL gives me DOMS).
Second...on Weights First...the BALL. I have a medicine ball but you know what? (I bet you do...) It doesn't bounce! It was quite funny, the first time Tracie bounced it, I threw mine to the floor and...splat. I had to laugh. So I just pretended to bounce it by raising it up and down but kept it in my hand. What are the modifications for this?
Third...food is one of my ***gest challenges. Because my doctor suggested I cut my salt and fats (I was never a *** fat eater anyway) I have done away with things like chips, and very recently gave up caffeine and all soda except Diet Rite Red Raspberry (yum). But I loooove sweets. My weight is not a problem (I'm about 5'8" and 128 lbs.) but my cholesterol was a bit high at my last check up - which was why I started my exercise program and cut most unhealthy things out of my diet. I've tried the Firm 14 day diet but when I'm working out 5-6 times a week it just isn't enough for me - I lose too much weight. So what food plans are folks following? Not a diet, I want a food plan for life.
Finally, I seem to see that a lot of folks still Firm - is that true? Which ones do you tend to do?
That's all I have for now but I'm looking forward to talking with everyone. I am so thrilled that Anna kept on with her fitness philosophy once the Firm passed into other hands.

Linda, Lori is probably the best one to ask about diet. I am horrible at it.
As far as which workouts to buy - Sounds like you already have Strong Bear (I did this one this morning) and Fast Cheetah (I have this on tap for next weeK) on tap. Both of these feature Tracie Long. The other FitPrime Tracie Long videos are Weights First and G-force 1. Which is a rebounder type of workout.
You can branch out and get other FitPrimes. I loved Steamin Cardio and From the Ground Up. If you want to stick with Tracie, you can get videos she produced under her own brand Tracie Long Training. There are four:
Endurance For Movement - Tracie Long leads
Strength In Movement - Jen Carmen Leads
Better Burn Better Buns - Tracie Long Leads
Finding Your Core - Susan Harris leads
These are functional fitness type of workouts so some of the moves are really unique. If you go to www.collagevideo.com (http://www.collagevideo.com) , you can see a preview of each of the workouts.
You can also try the WHFN workouts. These are also produced by Anna. However all of the ones in the Kick**** series are remakes of the Original FitPrime. You can see previews of most of these workouts by going to You Tube and using Anna Benson Workouts as your keyword.
As far as firming, I have every FIRM workout except for one. Many they don't sell anymore. The FIRM has also moved into functional fitness with their newest crop of workouts. Their website is www.firmdirect.com (http://www.firmdirect.com). It cost to be a member of their site but you can get a 30 day pass for free.
The ball you used sounds like a sculpting ball and not a medicine ball. The ball work are my least favorite sections in any of the FitPrimes. The modification you use sounds pretty good.
Also if you are ever in need of Rykas again you can try www.qvc.com (http://www.qvc.com). That is where I get my Rykas from.

Annette, I totally agree with you about the tempo of the workous. Original Fitprimes definately move faster than the WHFN.
Lisa, Yes I learned that the hard way when I went and saw the 2003 World Figure Skating championship. I had bought tickets for all the session. Cheap seat tickets. Could not see a thing. I ended up buying single session ticket so I could get closer to the ice for that event. So I spent double the money or if I couldn't get a single session ticket, I stayed home and watched it on tv.

Hi Ladies:
Welcome Linda I think there is alot of us that still do the Firm they are great workouts.
Annette I used to hover until I saw this news program about splashing if you know what I mean, they I just started being prepared. What a conversation. Where do you find 7 pound ankle weight? the most I use is five.
Lori I talked to my hubby about finishing the house I would really like it finished by Christmas I am getting so impatient. Oh I almost forgot I have finally reached my 5 pound weight loss mark, I am hoping since it took me so long to reach that I will keep it off. Lori now I know we do have to me one day, I just had my 25th anniversary August 20th, It was not a great day for me do you believe my husband forgot I had to remind him of what day it was. I wasn't looking for gifts or dinner or anything I really don't bug him about birthdays and things right now I would rather have the money going towards finishing the house but I would like him to remember.
Saundra even though both versions of strong bear seem similiar I like Stacie's version of Strong Bear, Keli's version just seems easier.
What size weight so you ladies use I think the heaviest I use is 20 pounds and I don't use the 20 that much, I build up muscle easy and I don't want to look bulky. The barbell I do use heavier though.
No workout for me today after the kickbox yesterday my upper back and shoulders needed the break, tomarrow is a weight/aerobics workout day.
Lori I didn't try the jump rope yet I will let you know when I do.

Hi Linda, sorry no help in the purchasing department....I have them both the old and new. I enjoy switching them up. Anna has V2,V3 and V6 on dvd as well.
I have every Firm as well, I have them sorted by Classics, Classic Parts, to the "Pinkies."
I don't have a "bouncy" ball either, I just modify by doing a pushing action, as if it were to bounce. Does that make sense.
I have done the Firm Diet as well. I felt full and fat all the time. It is not a bad diet though, once I got the portion control, controlled. I just posted this idea on another forum. Dollar General has cinammon supplements which suppress the "sugar." I still have my cravings around that TOM. Also add a little bit more protein to your diet, such as nuts. But not the Almond Joy :D....my cholestrol is borderline. I think it might be heredity more than anything else.
I am also borderline anemic. I eat darker leaf veggies in my salad. My diet which is not for everyone is this: I drink promegrant/cranberry juice and orange juice. I still can't give up my coffee. Around 10:30 or so, I have left overs with some time of fruit. On the way back from work I have a snack. Today was popcorn and apple. At dinner time I have veggies, fruit, meat. I try to get some type of carb in so I won't be so spacey. (I know what y'all are thinkin'). On Mondays and Thursdays I workout and have dinner at the football field. I crack parents up eating salad out of plastic cookie container.
I need to get back on my supplements been really slack about that lately. Anne Louise Gittleman has great info in her books. Some of it I take with a grain of salt though. I can't always buy organic. And she doesn't like strawberries in the diet.
TJMaxx or either Marshalls had Rykas. This was around Augustish? I know new word. I found New Balance 767-this is a running shoe, they work well. I have 2 pairs, 9 1/2 and 10. I had New Balance Cross trainers but they were heavy. I found a pair of Sauncy (sp) running shoes at a garage sale for 2.00. Almost brand new. They are very light running shoe.
If you like Tracie, I think you will Keli Roberts as well. Tracie also came out with TLP-Tracie Long Productions which are also Functional Fitness. There were pre-TLT's. You can probably get them from her: http://bluefishfitnessclub.com/homec1.php, Amazon or eBay.
Hope this helps!

Hi, Saundra...
What is a "rebounder workout"? And thank you for the suggestions for Steamin Cardio and From the Ground Up...I think I'll try Fast Cheetah and G-Force 1 next, then order my Tortoise and Hare DVDs. When you say the Kick**** series are remakes - do you mean they're the exact same workouts?
I do like Collage - I just started receiving the catalogs. I'm a long-time Firmer, and a member of the Firm Believers Club, so have most of their videos as well.
And thank you very much for the QVC rec! I'll try that next time!
Thanks again!

all I got to say is, "Annette, that was the funniest dang post you posted ever!" the one a couple back. you crack me up! hooray to the vcr!
you are just the cutest thing. I really do laugh out loud.
& girl you are strong! Diane's right? aye' carumba on the poundage?!?! that is really getting serious! are you gonna be able to walk tomorrow? or get out of bed?
there's too much yakking going on here, I can't keep up. my mind doesn't work that fast...
Diane, yes in fact I can relate. my husband forgot our anniversary totally last year. I reminded him 3 days later. & it hasn't been the 1st time either. needless to say, he is not a romantic.
Diane, way to go on the 5lbs! that's really great! keep up the good work! must be your kickboxing? something that kicked it up a extra notch. you must feel good about yourself. what did you change or do?
I'm no help on deciding on which Firm to get either. I own every dvd available. I have/needed them all. I suggest get your hands on as many as you can afford. They all work different areas of your body & are all great to own. (I also had every vhs at one time too.) (I'm talking Firm titles)
my advice on diet, is to control your portions. know how many calories you really need. don't undereat, it will only make you overeat later. yes, watch your salt, fat & SUGAR intake. sugar is also not so great, the more sugar you eat the more your body wants. hence more weight gain. I'm not a follower of any diet plans. they don't work. not for me anyway. if I want birthday cake on my birthday, nobody's gonna tell me, I can't have birthday cake! I just know enough now, I can't eat the WHOLE birthday cake anymore:o
Saundra, we've had a few horrible nosebleed seats for hockey games. It's such a waste of money. we don't bother anymore either. if you can't get decent seats for those kinds of events, I agree, PASS.
anybody watching Dancing With the Stars?
crm549
September 24th, 2008, 11:56 PM
Diane, sorry to hear hubby forgot your Anniversary. Shame on him. As far as what weights I used, I have an assortment. Starting with 1lbs - 8 lbs, then 10, 12,15, 20, and 25. I also have the platemates and paceweights. Those are great because they allow you to increment the weight in smalller chunks. So instead of going from 15 to 20 lbs. I can go to 16 or 17 or 17.5 depending on if I use the platemates or paceweights.
I do a lot of Cathe workout so I work out with a barbell as well. The most so far I have put on it is 40 lbs usually I try to stick with 30 or 35 lbs for the barbell. I also have body bars if various weights (12, 15, 18) I am thinking about getting a 22lb body bar and then of course I have the FIRM 8 and 9 lbs sculpting sticks. I like working out with the body bars because you don't have to worry about changing weights in and out.
Linda, rebounder workouts use a mini-trampoline forthe workout. I don't know if you ever heard of the urban rebounder. If so it is similiar to that. And yes the remakes are almost exactly like the original. I had the orginals for the longest time but I am just doing them all for the first time. So I did the remakes before the originals. Just this past week, I did Strong Bear and I was remarking how almost exactly the same the two were - down to the same words used by the instructors.
Tracie leads the original Strong Bear and Keli Roberts lead the WHFN remake. What I love about the WHFN series is the visual impact. IMO it is the best workout video set that I have seen.
Lori and Annette, are you two purchasing the wave?
Saundra
Lori
September 25th, 2008, 02:16 AM
Saundra, yup, I pre-ordered the wave. how about you? I'm not exactly happy about the workouts being so short. I like to get an hour in each workout. or close to it. I like how you bold the names! so much easier to read. Saundra, your such a genius! why didn't I think of that?! duh. regardless, I'm copying it.
Linda, you said you were going to order G-Force 1. You definitely need a rebounder for that dvd.
so what's on tap for everybody today?
my goal is: 5 miles in 60 minutes...you guessed it! on the treadmill. I did Complete Aerobics & Weight Training with Emily yesterday. so much fun. "getting down" with the fanny lifter. my legs felt sore this morning.

I'm getting ready to do Complete Body Sculpting. Have been off a couple of days so am looking forward to working out with my new shoes!

Annette, you mentioned your kids liked Cheerios & Kashi. Have you tried General Mills Fiber One? The Honey Clusters & the one with raisins are delicious. They have tons more fiber & are still loaded with all the vitamins. The Original is gross, (like Grape Nuts) or (Bran Buds). But, I really do love the other two. I eat a bowl of either pretty well every morning. Ties me over till lunch.

Hi y'all, I am not sure if we tried Fiber One. Kashi is usually cheaper at Sams. Dave doesn't know what a real grocery store is. Then he fusses about the food bill.
G-Force 2 is good as well for rebounder workouts. I would love to get a real rebounder but I have the el cheapo model for now. I workout on it downstairs. My floor already has "waves" from working out upstairs.
No I don't think I'll get The Wave.
Dianne sorry hubby forgot anniversary. But heaven's to betsy if you forget to pick up their laundry or they can't find something. MEN. Dave said he will be home for good on October 17. Just a few more weeks of freedom oooops, I mean sole parenting.
On tap, is a leg workout.
My shoulders and triceps were burnin' a little this morning. And those ankle weights were 6lbs not 7. I can't count straight if my life was dependent on it. Something about these grey hairs.....
Linda I hope you are able to find you shoes, nothin' is more flusterating than not being able to find your fav pair of shoes. Did you try eBay or Amazon.
I probably will not watch DWTS, I need to get some stuff done before gettin' Andrew from practice. And still need to workout.

Today I did Cathe's Kick Max. I used her weighted gloves and got a good workout. I still need to do 10 minute solutions Perfect Pilates Body - the last two sections. I may move this to tomorrow.
Lori, I don't watch DWTS, which is weird because I love ballroom dancing.

I like watching DWTS for the athletes. they seem to win every year. most of it's pretty ridiculous. I'm not religious about watching it, but, I do catch alot of it, if I can't find anything else on tv.
Saundra, are you gonna get the Wave? I heard shipping is to start next week. I bet you got a decent workout with the gloves & Cathe! I thought you would watch it for sure, DWTS, with Kristi Yamaguchi (sure I butchered that) & Apolo Anton Ono. hey, do you like speed skating too? that 10 min Pilates dvd looks really good. It's getting good reviews too.
Annette, how come your not ordering? that's surprising? Check that cereal out, it's really tasty, tastes like it's bad for you. It goes on here for sale real cheap quite often. when it is on sale it's cheaper than Kashi. the one with the raisins is the best (if you like raisins). 6lbs is almost 7lbs, still heavy. I don't use ankle weights, too darn hard! I hear ya about the wave in the floorboards. I've made a nice patch on the carpet in front of the tv.
I never made the 5 miles. dang it, that's still too hard. got to 4.6. better time on past Tues. actually will miss a workout tomorrow. going to Seattle for the day.

Lori,
I am still debating on whether or not I am going to get the wave.
I did watch last year's final when Kristi won, but I didn't see when Anton.

Hi y'all, was goin but didn't....call it a rest day. Will make up for this weekend! I had lighter ankle weights but outgrew them. Plus I found the heavier ones at a garage sale, couldn't pass them up.....I would like to get heavier, along with some other things on my wish list.
I thought about the Wave but right now, it is out of the question. It looks interesting though.
S-you can use that Kettlebell workout with Kelsie's. Get your money's worth :D and probably it will at Ross around Christmas.
But look what I found on eBay:

Saundra Have you ever tried using the rebounder for Firm workouts I have used it with Volume's 1,2, & 3. I really like it during the jumping segments.
Lori what is the wave? I did Pump, jump & jab today it was a tougher workout than I thought it would be, but then maybe I didn't recover totally from my kickbox workout on Monday. Later in the day I also did a 35 minute walk with a friend. I will try the Kettlebell worout with Kelsie next week. Oh tomarrow is that treadmill it is supposed to rain so will probably not be able to walk outside.
Annette I have to ask what is DOM I am probably going to feel stupid after I hear you answer. Fiber one also as a Carmel deluxe that is Yummy.
Linda how long do your workout shoes last, I try to have more than one pair and switch them off depending on what type of workout it is.

Diane,no the rebounder is the one piece of equipment I do not have. The Wave is the FIRM's new systems. It is called The Wave: Speed Slimming System. Check out the home page www.firmdirect.com (http://www.firmdirect.com). You can click on a link that will give you a preview.
Annette, I still have 4 of the wooden boxes. I probably can get rid of them since I have a fanny lifter and a high step.

Saundra, do you know who the instructor is on that kettlebell dvd? I don't recognize her?
Annette, I'd like to get my hands on those tall steps too! they look like their in terrific shape too. I wonder how much that will all go for? I noticed when Saundra posted her photos, I zeroed in on her 2 tall steps! Saundra, those might be something you'd have seller's remorse with after letting them go?
I saw 3 deer on our drive to Seattle today. so cute.

Lori, the lady on the 10MS KB workout name is Michelle Olsen and no I have never heard of her.
Diane, I do think the workouts are short. What I find funny is that they offer an express option for an even shorter workout. Pretty soon the FIRM can start calling their stuff 10 minute workouts.
Hi Linda.
Annette hope you had fun watching college football yesterday.
Checking in for yesterday with Cathe's High Step Challenge. Tough workout for me.
This morning ran in the rain. Of course the rain was at its heaviest at the half way point. No improvement on time either.

Hi y'all, had a wonderful weekend in spite of Clemson losing. I found a few interesting things at garage sale, new with tags. My step mother re-did her bathroom and I found candles and fragances that match. Shhhhh, don't tell them but that will be their anniversary present.
I wouldn't mind gettin' those boxes either, my 12 inch is on its last leg. Sorry no pun intended. I do have the Fanny Lifter but my *** boats get caught underneath the smaller box.
Someone else mentioned cardio on the rebounders as well. I have el cheapo but I would like to have one that folds. So I can hide it from Dave....I think if I get one more anything related to exercise, he'll get me.
I took another rest day, my ovary was acting up and I am still sore. DOMS is delayed onset muscle soreness. When I get DOMS I eat red meat, and drink Slim Fast for the calcium which seems to help. Went to the store after church and picked up spinach as well. For some reason, DOMS also depletes my iron possible because I am borderline anemic.
Y'all have a great week!
Lori
September 28th, 2008, 03:10 PM
Annette, my mother is also borderline anemic as well. She really has to watch her diet. She also has high blood pressure. I think she takes Crestor? She tried to get her blood pressure to go down with diet & exercise, but, the doctor told her sometimes it's purely hereditary & diet & exercise aren't just the answer.
I bought spinach today too. I'm making some lasagna which called for frozen chopped spinach.
I told my husband today he bought me the Wave for our anniversary. He said, "oh, I did, did I?"
You are such a thoughtful person Annette. I'm sure your step-mother will love the candles & fragrances. Who cares where you bought them? I love a bargain period!
Saundra, I feel your pain! (on the no-change on the time with your run). yesterday I gave it my best to get to the 5 miles in a hour. Still no go. Ran 4.7 again. Just can't break that barrier. I tried so hard too. It's so hard! But, I did jog 2 miles straight off the bat. Then intervalled. So, I am getting much better. There's always next time, huh? Keep trying, keep trying, that's my motto. I read yesterday in Self magazine, Rene Zelleweger (sure that's spelled wrong too) jogs on the treadmill 3 or 5 miles, 4 times a week. My goal, eventually.
kudos to you for running in the rain! extra points for that, for sure.
We are having an Indian summer here. Very warm. Tomorrow & the next day are 28 Celcius. It's been a very sunny September.
I wouldn't even dare try Cathe's high step! Goodness, too tough for me. I'm such a clutz when it comes to choreography. I tried Cathe's basic step dvd, & was so lost. embarrassing.
Diane, there is also 2 additional Wave dvds in the deluxe kit, they have a 30 & 40 minute dvd. I'm hoping that by these dvd's being on the short-side of running minutes that this may be an indication of the actual workouts being advanced or tiring in some way? I'm very excited in getting the kit. It reminds me of surfing? Looks like fun, I'll let you all know what it's like when I get it. (will take some time, being in Canada).
I finally got my Powerball kit & the Sculptalates. Can't remember, did any of you get these? The powerball stinks so bad! It reeks something terrible. My workout room & the hallway smells like a cross between rubber & mothballs?! These 2 are on my list to do this coming week for my strength training.
I wish my Kettlenetics would hurry up & get here. I'm curious to see if I will like it?
visit with you all tomorrow.

Lori, I haven't gotten my powerball yet. Hopefully I will get it this week. I hope however that it does not smell. I do have Sculpt-Illates but haven't done it yet.
I need to stop ordering workout dvds, I have too many.
Anna change the name of Aerobic Interval Training to Aerobics Workout with Weights. I hate all the name changes. I say name a workout and leave it.
Checking in with 10 Minute Solution *** Body Bootcamp.
Annette sorry to hear about Clemson.

Did you all hear that Jack Lalane turned 94? he still works out for 2 hours daily!
which brings me to the question of the day. how long do you work out? how many days do you normally train?
I have another question. Actually more than one. How come whenever I have tried a Leslie Sansone dvd it never made me sweat or got my heart rate up much at all? (not wanting to tick off any of her followers, just asking). The dvds claimed to be equivalent to 4 or 5 miles, but it was like a cake walk compared to the treadmill? I gave them away because they seemed like beginners workouts. Explain away, anyone?
& Annette & Saundra: have you ever met Anna? Is Anna younger or older than Cynthia? Is Cynthia still involved with fitness? Was Anna or Cynthia married to Mark? inquiring mind? Any idea as to Anna's age?
Saundra, I am not exaggerating on the stench of that ball. It's carried on it's aroma into our spare bedroom now too. It's really the worst of any peice of stinky equipment I've ever had?
I stand corrected on a post awhile back. I said at one time I owned every Firm made. I didn't ever get my hands on the step video. That is one I picked for Anna to re-release. I forget the title off the top of my head. The all step cardio one.
Lori
September 29th, 2008, 03:16 AM
Saundra, I did the Sculpt-ilates (noticed I've been spelling that wrong all the time too) anyhow, I really liked it. Robyn is an excellent cuer & I really liked her calming personality. I hope she leads again. I would definitely buy her dvds.
Someone at Collage reviewed it as being too slow. I didn't find that. I enjoyed being able to follow without feeling rushed. Pretty basic stuff, but I did feel relaxed & somewhat stretched out. I think I was really needing this type of workout. Curious of your thoughts after you've tried it. oh, & I liked this one alot better than Alison's. A keeper for me.
now everybody, doesn't 2 hours of training daily sound like over exercising?
Diane I
September 29th, 2008, 05:25 AM
Hi Ladies:
Lori I didn't get sculpt-ilates but I did order the Powerball over the weekend.
I have a question for you are all kettlebell workouts used with just one bell. I did Kelsie's kettlebelll today and I am really not sure about it I think I will give it another try but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.
I workout between 40 mins to 1 hour once in a while I will add a longer one in if I have the day off. Later in the day I will walk 30 minutes or so.
the Firm should offer chaptered dvd's so at least you can put together a longer workout.
I really didn't feel like working out today maybe thats why I didn't like the kettlebell workout since switching from the vitamins that kept me up all night I have been feeling tired.
Annette my Father in Law used to use my high step for a foot stool, now it just sits on the porch. Yes I use the rebounder for other cardios but I have to say I really don't fold it up I am afraid of getting my fingers chopped off even wheb my hubby would help me fold it I would pull my hands away to quickly and he would yell at me because it would snap shut.
Saundra and Lori do you belong to the firm club?
Diane
Lori
September 29th, 2008, 06:10 AM
Diane, yes I do belong to the Firm club. I can answer for Saundra too. yes she does also. I've seen her post there. do you?
I have not been sleeping well either. For the past week it's been only one decent nights rest. I think out of pure exhaustion? I'm having trouble falling asleep & staying asleep. Then I'm tired all day?!
as far as I know, yes, you only use one kettlebell. I'm no expert though. I only have Kelsies. I enjoyed it so much, that I thought I would order the Kettlenetics because I heard Kettlenetics is kind of like the Firm. I've heard real kettlebell fanatics talk Kettlenetics "down" as it's not a so called "true" kettlebell workout?
I'm hoping their good enough for me?
I really liked Kelsie's kettlebell dvd, until those "turkish thingeys". I was totally useless at that. pretty much stared at the tv screen & watched?
give it another try. sometimes it really does depend on what kind of mood your in. I've hated some & tried it later & really liked the dvd.
what did you not like about it? can you put a finger on it?
I workout the same as you. pretty much an hour, 6 days a week. the 2 strength training days run from 40 - 60 minutes. I walk my dog everyday for 45 minutes to a hour.
heck, I was glad I could do 80% of it. Not like the other ones.
one thing that I'm not used to is: the feel of the kettlebell handle banging on my wrists & hand. uncomfortable at times. I can imagine what a heavier kettlebell would feel like?
Goodness, some of them I couldn't make it passed the warm up. instant hate.
did you get Dangerous Curves?
the new Firms have been so hit & miss with me. I'm just not clicking with the majority of them.
I hope I like the powerball workout.
I don't unfold my rebounder either. It seems really dangerous, doesn't it? (laughed at you & your hubby scraping with the rebounder. tee-hee, can picture it. reminds me of me & my hubby) Annette, the nice thing about the UR is the legs fold down so you could slide the rebounder under the bed. or slide it behind something. (just trying to help you out with the sneaking it from Dave)
I workout the same as you. 60 minutes, 4 days a week, 40-60 minutes on 2 strength training days. I walk my dog daily for 45-60 minutes.

I think that was my problem with the workout, that bell felt like it was hurting my wrist, after a while I started holding it by the bell part instead of the handle.
Yes I did order Danderous curves with the Powerball workout.
My eating has been off the past couple of days not awful but not as well as I was doing maybe a little PMS going on.

Diane, the Kbell isn't the most comfortable thing alright. I think it's one of those things that takes getting used to?
post what you think of Dangerous Curves. I didn't like it:( I hope you like it.
yesterday was a really bad day food wise for me too. I had my usual Sunday B.I.G Mac Combo for supper (my cheat day). but, I didn't stop there, I had a ton of red licorise, a chocolate bar & 8 cookies. abit of a binge:eek:

Hi y'all,
I did meet Anna 2 years ago when she had Fitprime. I have no idea how old she is but Anna is one of those women who ages gracefully. I look like an old hag at 44. Trust me.
I was doing Mark Blanchard's Flow Yoga today. One of the poses was crow. He said, "lift your pelvic floor." I started thinkin' where did I hear THAT before. Mark is a cross between Tony and Gunner. This is the second dvd I have by him, the other is core. And it has your abs sore for days. The only thing that drives me batty is no one is in sync. But it flows well.
I read about Jack too. If you include yoga, I workout between 1 hour and 2 hours a day. I try to anyway. I enjoy yoga as a practice and mediation. So I really don't think of yoga as exercise or workout.
Don't tempt me about the folding rebounder....I did see on Craigslist a Supreme Pilates. I would love to trade my pilates bench for a shorter one. But then again I don't have time to do pilates. My favorite are Winsor thanks to Anna exposure of pilates.
I wasn't on to lecture (reading the lesson, or OT or Epistle Scriptures) at 8:00 at the Episcopal church so I attended 10:30 at the Catholic Church. We went to Bomb Island Grille in Chapin. I did well, had a *** salad with steak. BUT, we went grocery shoppin' and Dave JUST had to have carrot cake. After I took kids and their friends to religious ed, I realized I was out of ****er (call me Paula Dean). So I JUST had to have French vanilla ice cream with carrot cake.
By the way, there are no calories on Sunday.
Yep between Andrew's game, I watched the Clemson fiasco. I told my wonderful Maryland neighbor, please don't attend anymore Clemson home games. Honey I didn't lick wounds, I picked scabs. GA and TN lost as well. I did turn on the sports radio briefly today. I didn't have a chance to read Sunday's sports page. I wrote on Yayas, another strange and loooong football season.
It was either VF or Yayas that mentioned Gin Miller is comin' out with a kettlebell and ball workout. Get another use for the Firm gadgets.
Dave said he wants to get real serious about working out when he comes off the road in October. We shal see, but actually he shocked me this weekend. When I was getting cranberry juice, he asked if it had Fructose Corn Syrup. Miracles never seem to cease. Now if I can get the kids to do homework and clean room!

Annette, you have such a way with words. truly. I just love reading your posts. I tell ya, I'm addicted to all 3 (Diane, Annette & Saundra) of you. I can't wait to read what you had to say. I don't believe for a minute you look like an old hag.
love the "there are no calories on Sundays".
I read that about Gin on VF. I cannot, & will not buy anything more fitness related. I just can't afford it. I'm kind of scared the way the economy is looking in North America. scarey:confused: .

Lori, I need to cut back on my fitness purchases too. I have been going way too overboard.
I normally exercise 6 days a week. Anywhere from 30 -60 minutes. My rest days are usually Fridays. During the week, I workout from 4am until 5am. Although I don't like my workout to go beyond 55 minutes during these days.
On the weekends or holidays I will schedule longer workouts, but even so I try to keep them in the 65 to 70 minute range. Anything beyond that I start to get annoyed and loose focus. Every once in a blue moon I will do a 90 minute workout and yes it is a long time.
Leslie Sansone, I don't do her workouts anymore even though I have quite a few of them. When I was super heavy, I felt them and thought they were good. Now I mostly think they are repetitive. Although I think the 4 and 5 mile tapes are good for training for distances and for people who don't have a treadmill and don't want to do the outdoor thing.
I have never met Anna. She is the one that was married to Mark. I think she is the older of the two sisters. I have their book "Firm for Life" I think it is called. I will see if it indicates who is older.
Diane, the bell. The issue that I had with it was that it would scraped the back of my knuckles during the swinging motion. I believe Keslie gives some tips for it on the FIRM blog to prevent this from happening. And Yes I am a member. I have been debating about canceling my membership because I don't believe it is worth $9.99 a month, but next month they are suppose to make huge improvements to the site so I'll wait and see if that holds to be true.
Annette, I like your assortment of DVD instructors. I don't have too many DVDs with men leading workouts.
I have a cold. Therefore I am checking in with a rest day. Yesterday I left work early, stop by the store and got some ZICAM and went home put out the trash and went to bed. I overslept this morning. Tomorrow is supposed to be Fast Cheetah but it will depend on how I feel.
Saundra
Lori
September 30th, 2008, 08:59 AM
Saundra, wow, thanks for all the info!
I think you should pass on the Fast Cheetah, you'll get rid of your cold faster if you train really light or rest altogether.
there is a nasty cold going around here...touch wood. I think just about everyone but me has caught it.
I used to work out 90 minutes 6 days a week. I found that I ate more when I did this? ate more than I burned:rolleyes:
your question at the Believer's Club: I tried a few times the priority upgrade & it made no difference whatsoever. Granted I'm in Canada. I learned that it was pointless.
I know what you mean about the membership. I rarely post there, & I mean rarely. there isn't any topics that interest me there much either.
I do find that at VF I find out beforehand updates about the Firm, before the Believer's Club does?!
I really didn't have any b.i.g issues with the kbell. but, I will say that I read beforehand everybody's comments about the problems they had. so, I really was cautious, slow & calculated the moves. It seemed to help. I'm wondering if I go heavier on the kbell if I will have problems. I found I wanted Kelsie's to be heavier? I wasn't really sore the next day. I think I could go heavier?
still no site of my kettlenetics:( I ordered the 8lb kbell with the deluxe package.
I have Firm for Life too, I loved that book. I wish Anna would write another one. heck, I wish the 3 of them would do another Fitprime/ Kick**** series.
Saundra how do you find the energy to workout that early? must be from your Navy days. you are disciplined, I will say that!
I still am stuck at 4.7 miles per hour on the treadmill. guess I should be happy with that. still trying for 5.
I swear I "WILL NOT BUY ANY MORE FITNESS STUFF".
ya, Annette does have a cool collection of stuff, doesn't she?
annette b.
September 30th, 2008, 12:06 PM
Hi y'all, I wish Anna would update Firm for Life as well. I have read other instructor's books, such as Kathy Smith and nothin' comes close.
I don't feel so hot either, I am taking allergy/sinus medicine and this medicine from Theraflu that has vitamin c and other supplements in it. I think it is because the sudden change of weather last week.
I did Baron's core yoga and Power Cardio with Dale.
I get up early around 4:30 or so, but that is my quiet/mediation period. I tried getting up early to workout but I would find myself exhausted by 8:00. I got into working out in the afternoon because of Andrew. That was his time to read and do homework. Little did he know, at times he read for over 1/2 hour. I know I am such a bad and mean mommy.
Saundra, please take a rest day.
Lori, you could go heavier.
I had the P90's series, but Tony drove me nuts. I think I still have 2 Gunner's ball workouts. But I love Bryan Kest with the hair. Baron has a nice soothing voice and the same for Rodney Yee. Mark Blanchard has a New York accent for sure. I did try Leslie from the library. I have tried others as well, but can you say I am spoil by Firms and Fitprimes! :D
You can never have enough workouts :D
Lori
September 30th, 2008, 12:49 PM
Annette & Saundra, I hope you feel better soon. I hate getting sick. it's just cramps my style.
Annette, you get up so early too. What time do you go to bed at night?
Mark Blanchard's reviews sound tough? your fairly advanced then in the yoga department? Bryan Kest too.
I don't think I would like Tony. I've seen the informercials & he really turns me off.
your so right about being totally spoiled with Anna's stuff. so true, so true!
I still look at my Firm for Life. It's one of those books you go back to & reference from.
um, I didn't mind Leslie, I actually enjoyed her dvds, but, I don't think I got much of a workout? I think they would have been great when I first started to workout?
Power Cardio & yoga, your tough. I'm beat after Power Cardio.

Hi Ladies:
Saundra I am guilty of working out when I am sick, I pretty much have set days when I workout so I just usually stick to it. But I will do a lighter workout the Prime Powers are great then or the basic Firm set fit in just fine for me when I am not feeling well. I am glad I am not the only one with the issue with the bell, it wasn't the weight of it itself I even found it light at times. During the workout I just wanted to pick up normal weights.
Annette I remember when I was little my mother turning Jack on, not that I ever saw her working out with him, I guess she just liked to watch.
Lori eating still stinks I let it continue and I haven't done that for the past month so I am feeling disappointed with myself.
I didn't recieve Dangerous cures yet I will let you know when I get it.
I was so stupid today I cut a couple of fingers with a knife I thought I was going to need a stitch or two, but my hubby said it didn't look that bad, but I kind of messed up his work day making him come home.
Today was a pain to workout my nephew was hogging the TV today so I had to workout in the bedroom I felt crowed in I had to keep moving stuff out of my way. But I did manage to get in the treadmill in along with my niece chatting away. I don't if I mentioned it but that is my Job I watch my sister's 2 kids before and after school. Today and tomarrow school is closed , so today my nephew asked if they could just stay over. so that is how I ended up cutting my hand I was making them dinner and my niece was calling me and I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and the knife slipped. I have to say my niece she is 7 was very helpful, I think all the blood upset her a bit but she kept getting the tissues as I needed them and we both couldn't reach the stupid bandaids I think my husband must have put them away. So it was a little comical at one point. Of course my nephew couldn't care less.
He was more into jis video game.
Does anyone know how to make jelly? We have a grapevine with grapes going to waste so I wanted to attempt a try at making jelly. I just don't know anyone who has made it or have helped make it.
Oh Saundra I hope you are feeling better.

how old's your nephew? sounds like they keep you busy.
ahh, don't be so hard on yourself with the food. does no good. when your good & ready you will get back on track. the harpin' on yourself just makes you feel disappointment. a vicious cycle, I tell ya.
try to start your day off with a healthy mind set of eating healthy for the day. & then the next day & so on. if you slip, so what. there's always the next day. if I mess up & feel guilty, I just start over the next day. no worries.
I'm going to try the Powerball tomorrow. I'll post what I thought of it.
Saundra, how you feeling today? crummy? Get well soon!
did you all get the email from Anna that the Vol 2 & 3 were shipped? hooray!
I think it's really great that Anna & Ginger let us visit here too! thanks Anna & Ginger!
Hello Annette! hope your not feeling crummy too?
guessing we bored Linda to tears?
my Wave kit was shipped yesterday. the deluxe kit is being shipped at a later date (figures).
hooray, my Kettlenetics came today!!!! I'm so impressed with the package. It has these really cushy wrist bands. Quite plush. & the kbells are really alot different in the handle than the Firm's. there is a ton of room for both hands. almost twice the size of the handle of the Firm kbell. plus the handles are round not squared off. the 8lb one seems really, really heavy. I can't wait to try the dvds ( 8 in total including the instruction dvd). hoping to start them off this Friday. I'm so happy, I hope I like this set.

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the well wishes. I took today off from work and I feel better. Just left with a crappy violent cough that takes awhile to stop once it starts.
Diane sorry about your hand.
Annette I have sinus issues too. That is what I thought was wrong with me initially .
Lori you are right. The FIRM Powerball does stink. It smells quite toxic.
So I did do Fast Cheetah today. I didn't go all out and sometimes I used no weight. I did not like the warmup or the first med ball section. I didn't like the Warmup in WHFN Fast Cheetah either. Other than that, love the workout especially the music. The music was awesome.
I am planning on going to work tomorrow so I am going to go to bed.

Sweet Dreams Miss Saundra:p
my Powerball still is stinkin' up the back end of our house. It is very chemically. toxic is a good word. I'm going to try it out tomorrow.
I watched the introductionary moves for the Kettlenetics (couldn't wait). a lot more detail & instruction than the Firm's.
the music is awesome in Fast Cheetah. Saundra, did you use the Firm's new Powerball for the warm up? or did you use another med ball?
hey Annette, out of noseyness again...how tall is Anna about? guesstimate.
Diane, on the Kettlenetics instruction dvd, the instructor really was driving home that the kbell is used in a swinging motion, versus a lifting motion with a dumbbell. This is why it is important & for that matter different in working your muscles than the traditional dumbbell training. maybe keep this in mind next time you do Kelsie's dvd & see if this makes a difference for you in liking it?

Hi y'all,
Diane I hope your fingers heal soon. I break a nail and you think it is the end of the world. Sorry I don't know how to make jelly. My grandmother did though, but somehow the cooking gene/trait wasn't passed to me. Now if we can figure out how to make wine, that is a different story! :D LOL
Saundra, I have herbal tea with enchandia (sp) that has vitamins. I took allegery pills and I was out like a light. Today went by Dollar Tree and purchased cough drops. I went to Dollar Tree to get 2 things and came out 8. Never fails. But I did the 3 items I needed.
Lori, Mark Blanchard is not that tough, he is along the same lines as Baron, Bryan, etc. Richard Freeman's beginner and intermediate were tougher. Especially after the more advanced poses. I am almost at the point of holding a pushup low to the ground. Almost.
I did Baron tonight, and trying to find my athlete. She is there somewhere, maybe I will wake up to my inner athlete in the spring. And I worked out between Andrew's practice. I'll start a workout and then finish while he is at practice.
I try and be in bed around 9:30 or so. And read for a little while. I also read in the morning before I start mediation and journal. My mother was an early riser, to get peace and quiet. Now I understand. My coffee pot wakes me.
Hope y'all have a great night!

Hi Ladies:
I had a hard time holding the weights today but managed to get the workout done.
I guess I have something to look forward to when I get my Power ball workout a stinky ball, I ordered from Amazon and its showing a shipping date on oct. 16th I don't know why so long.
Annette my I think my Aunt used to make jelly but never thougt to ask her,
I think she kept alot of recipes in her head. Her daughter did not know how she used to do it. I could help you with the wine making, my father-in-law used to make it. My hubby can't drink wine so he didn't want to make any this year, because it would just go to waste. i don't drink alcohol there are issues in my family. So I don't tempt fate and just stay away.
Lori I will take your advice with the kettlebell and see if I like the workout bettter.
Saundra I am glad you are feeling better. I like Fast cheetah but the part I really don't like is the sword movement.
I have question for you ladies during Kelsie's kettle workout there is a part when she is on the floor and goes into a lunge to stand up are you all able to it. I didn't even try it I kind of modified the move.

Diane, The Turkish Getups. I tried it and I wasn't able to get up. At least not how Kelsie was getting up. Diane, I cancelled my Power Ball order with Amazon and wrote them a not so nice little note. I ordered my powerball from TotalFitnessDVDs.com and received it 3 days later.
Annette, That is how I am with Wal-Mart. I go in there intending to get one thing and come out with 10.
Lori, No I used my 2lb medicine ball. To be honest I probably won't use the FIRM powerball at all. I have three of Cathe Medicine balls and I will probably use one of those. I bounced the FIRM medicine ball and it doesn't bounce as well as Cathe medicine ball. Lori, who is the instructor of Kettlenetics? I think I see her informercial.
I am checking in with 4 sections from 10 minute solutions Kickbox Bootcamp. I did have Cathe Kick Punch & Crunch on tap, but decided to go with something less intense.

Hi Girls!
everyone sounds so chirper today! back into fighting spirits!
I ordered my Powerball from Totalfitnessdvds too. Diane, be prepared, no exaggeration on the stink factor! The stinkiest of stinkiest peice of equipment!
I was very surprised to see on the Kettlenetics instruction dvd how EASY the instructor made the Turkish Getups look. She did them in slow motion, so you could really get the move. I'll try & explain my best. 1.) you start lying flat on your back, 2.) rolling on your side, towards, your arm outstretched on the ground, the other arm straight up in the air, holding the kbell, 3) using your arm on the ground to help push yourself up, with your one leg under crisscrossed under the other to stand. 4.) then reverse motions back to lying.
I'll see if I can follow the Turkish Getup move better with the actual workout.
I can't stress how much I'm impressed with this package. You get a wall calendar which shows all the kbell moves, which helps to break it all down too. I think this package will help me more too, the next time I do Kelsie's workout?
I too come from a family of alcoholics. My dad & my brother & just about everyone on my father's side. Turned me right off the booze.
Saundra, the instructors name is Michelle Khai. She has a pretty impressive background. I read alot of complaints that she had this annoying kindergarten voice. But, I did not find that at all. So far, I really liked her...ALOT.
I will say, I've read many posts about the Firm instructors not to everyone's liking. Yet, I can't think of one, who I haven't liked?
I'm glad you took it easier. That comes with experience. I know myself in the past, I should have rested & didn't. Which is really not doing your body any good. We really do need to listen to our bodies. funny, your taking it easy, is still so killer! LOL
I'm disappointed to read that the Firm powerball isn't great at bouncing. that was one of the main reasons of me ordering it. my other med ball is from a sporting goods store here, & it doesn't bounce at all. I wanted one to use in Anna's Fitprimes. oh well.
Annette, I don't know, Mr. Blanchard looks pretty tough to me. I can only do the beginner stuff of Baron, so....& I could only do alittle of the beginning of Bryan's beginner tape & he lost me. I think your being modest again. Your more advanced than the average Joe. no doubt from me, you do so have the "inner athlete". If you can hold the low pushup to the ground, you do have alot of upper body strength. core too!
I can relate with the intent of going into ANY store to buy one item! never happens:rolleyes:
I thought I got up early & went to bed early?! not compared to you. I'm pretty regular with up at 5:30 or 6 & have great difficulty staying up later than 10. (not much fun at my DH's work Christmas Party's & such).
I won't be doing the kettlenetics until Sat. I'll post what I think. Gonna try out my "STINKBALL Firm workout" today?
Lori
October 2nd, 2008, 02:57 AM
I just finished the Powerball workout. it was ok. yes, for me, just ok. the stench of the ball gave me a headache, I swear.
even my hands stink now. at times so close to my nose, it was really nauseating.
I found the transitions were alittle too fast. another problem was the ball felt greasy & slippery. I was afraid of dropping it at times. the texture on my other med ball makes for an easier grip?
the workout is only 40 minutes long, so I did the Kettlenetics Basic 20 minute dvd. I enjoyed that. different than the Firm kbell workout completely. it's different than any other workout actually. I quite liked it, so far so good.
I think I will in fact do the Cardio Balanced workout tomorrow, instead of the treadmill.:)

Lori, You had me dying laughing talking about how bad the ball smells. :D I definately will be using my other med ball for this workout. I posted this question on the FIRM forums to see if others also had a stinky ball (like I didn't know the answer). One lady did say after about the 5th time using the ball the smells seemed to go away.
I am working late today but when I get home and if I am not totally wiped out I might try the workout tonight.

Oh Lori
You have me worried about that medicine ball smell.
I drive my husband nuts when things smell especially food, he will bring take-out home and I won't eat if I don't like the smell I don't care how good it tastes.
Don't tempt me with the kettlenics I absolutely do not need any more workout dvd's. Lori my mother killed her liver with her drinking, she would always have that yellow look when she wasn't feeling well.
Saundra I am glad you are feeling better. I never ordered from Totalfitnessdvds before how is there shipping? Do you do any Christy Taylor workouts? I have a few but Totally Cool Step is one of my Favorites, I just don't do much of the spins and turns which Christy does alot in her workouts, I get dizzy.
Annette I am with Saundra I can't walk into Walmart and just get one thing,
I need to walk in there with blinders on until I get to what I need. Did you get Rodney Yee's I think its call Every Day Yoga?

Diane, TotalfitnessDVDs shipping is fantastic. All orders over $20, shipping is free. Under $20, shipping is $2.75. And she (Mary is the lady that runs it) sends them out superfast. I have order stuff on Saturday and got an email saying the package has shipped or will ship Monday.
She also will send you 10off coupons which gives you 10% off your order. Mary also offers a 30 or more second You Tube clip on many but not all of the workouts she sells. I think her home page states she ahs 825 titles in inventory.
Another good place to order is Advanced Workouts. Although they don't sell FIRM workouts because Jen (the lady who runs it) doesn't consider them advance. She is also super fast with her shipping unless it is a **** out sale. In the case of a **** out sale (where she reduces prices by half on the dvds), she will send the package to you media mail (which takes forever) if you order qualifies for free shipping or you can pay the price to have them ship faster.
I have not done any Christy Taylor workouts.

Saundra, trying to figure out what the heck the **** are? what were you trying to type? b.l.o.w?
well DH caught that rotten virus. ohhhh, I don't want it!
the Powerball, 5 more workouts!? I've had the ball for over a week now, either we've come accustomed to the stench or it is losing it's aroma? I swear the entire morning I could taste the smell?! I didn't feel like eating anything? maybe that's a good thing...the Powerball makes you loose your appetite? good gawd where in the world was that thing made?
Saundra, there are alot of moves that I did like in the workout, after thinking about it later. I think honestly if the ball did not smell like it does, the workout would be more enjoyable. One other comment, Tina was starting to annoy me with a few too many, "whoo-hoo's". (which seemed really strange & uncomfortable for her? almost like it was practiced?) the workout has almost a boot-camp, interval feel. alittle bit of everything.
I was really sore later in the afternoon. I don't know if it was from the Powerball workout or the Kettlenetics? maybe from doing the combination?
Diane, I have so many horror stories on my family tree (truly a bunch of Loser's, literally). they have been good incentives though, on how not to live.
The only Christy Taylor I have done is Mission Possible. I really liked it alot. Her others were too hard to master the footwork for me. But, like I said before, I'm really choreographed challenged.
I really wish I could share my Kettlenetics with you all. that way you could see if you liked it before you purchased.
how are your fingers heeling?

Hi Lori:
My fingers are doing better, My sister's dog stepped on my fingers this morning though I felt like I could have cried. Would you recommed the Power Ball workout or should I cancel my order. Some of the pink Firms just don't do it for me. Did you get your Wave yet?
Saundra thanks for the info I will check out both sites.
No workout for me today unless you count the stairs, today is laundry day, 3 flights down 3 flights up times 4 loads. Th laundry ends up being its own little wokrout.
Any plans for the weekend ladies? I am doing a Breast Cancer walk on Sunday and of course working at our house. Lori I haven't updated my pictures yet but I will post them.

Diane, the Powerball workout 'IS', actually one of the 'pinks' that I can do. (some modifying), would I recommend it? in a word "no". I think it's overpriced. I could live without it. nothing special. see if Saundra recommends it, before you cancel. I'm not in love with it. it's another middle of the road dvd.
no Wave. I think I should get mine around the 9th or 10th. could be even later. it might sit in customs because it's b.i.g. I'm looking forward to it though. something different. that's why I think I'm really enjoying the Kettlenetics, because it is something so different for a change.
didn't this week go by super fast????
good for you, Diane! (on the breast cancer walk). how long is the walk for? are you going with anyone? you'll probably be way too tired to work out after at home, don't you think?
ahh, your maintenance day today (laundry & chores). I count that as exercise for sure. like step aerobics, all those stairs! you must have a b.i.g house?
no plans here for the weekend. wondering how sick my hubby is? I just want to get some sleeping in.
looking forward to the pictures.
I could picture your face when the dog stepped on your fingers. ouch:eek:
speaking of dogs...I feel sorry for my mutt. he must be wondering what the heck that smelly powerball is doing in our house? I can imagine what the smell is like for him!
I did 2 more Kettlenetics. gosh darn it! I'm loving it!!! I did one dvd, & passed on it. didn't care for it (a stretch & strength one). so far so good. I still have 3 dvds to do. I really feel it in my core. it is so different from anything else that I have. the Turkish Getups in the Cardio dvd, are alot easier & slower than Kelsies. sort of half the move. I'm wondering if they will be tougher in the other dvds. at least on this dvd, I could actually do them! the instructor does these halo moves that are so cool. they have a dancey feel to the dvds. but super easy to follow. nothing hard, & there is a modifier.
this is a purchase that I'm actually glad that I got. has been quite sometime I felt this way. usually I've been thoroughly disappointed.
I'm going to try the 10 minute/ total 50 minute strengthening trouble spots dvd tomorrow.
have a nice weekend everyone! (Annette, are you sick girl?)

Hi y'all, sorry I didn't get a chance to workout yesterday. I started cleaning up before the Great Instruptus came home. Plus Andrew invited a friend over which gave him an incentive to clean. BUT not without a list. I know I am such a bad mommy. On top of both kids having a list, a took away laptop and controllers. Crackin' the whip!
I still have the allergy, coughing, sinus or whatever it is called. I could have worked out but I think climbing up and down the stairs doing laundry like Lori is a workout.
I just received the Eion Finn yoga in a trade. He is a hottie. I wouldn't mind doing the corpse pose with him LOL. Tomorrow USC plays at 12:00 so I'll have my headsets on while watchin' Andrew play football at 1:00. I think we are going to get pizza afterwards called the Village Idiot in 5 Points. I could say somethin' smart there but I will not :D LOL
I noticed interesting garage sales this weekend, perhaps squeeze one or two in before I go. Oh I found on Craigslist a pair of 35lb hexagon weights for 25.00. It might be awhile before I can do lat rows at 35 or perhaps never but I can always trade them at Play It Again Sports. I love Craigslist and Play It Again Sports!
Try cleaning the medicine ball with dish detergent and air it out. Or push come to shove spray Freezebreeze. I wear gloves with my weighted workouts because my hands sweat so bad. I use baby powder with cornstarch on both my hands and feet when I do yoga.
Saundra, Christi Taylor sorta, kinda, maybe, perhaps reminds me of Cathe's step routines. I do have a vhs copy my friend sent me. I can not do turns well. I feel like character in the Exorist. Plus it makes me more dizzier than I already am. If you want it pm me, I just need stamps.
Diana I can't walk into any store and not get one thing. Especially if I look at the sales rack first. Even in the grocery store. Today I went in for cheesy bread and pie for chili (I started this morning in the crock pot-which I forgot the puree but had sloppy joe mix, which is too sweet. HFC-so I had to tone it down with more chili powder and garlic) and pe crust (doing a peach pie). Came out with bread sticks stuffed with pizza. They were on sale. I promise these are for the kids.
Well, let me get motivated to try and do a quick workout.

Slim and Trim, Tina's Power Ball Workout.
When I review this workout for Collage, the Title is going to say "Too Much Wooing".
Normally stuff like wooing doesn't bother me, but it was really overdone and seem to over powere the workout. Towards the end of the workout every other rep had a woo attached.
The music and sound quality was bad. I felt the same way about Dangerous Curves Ahead and TransFIRM your troublezones. The music wasn't loud enough and if you turned up the volume only the instructor get louders. So Tina's wooing was very loud. I thought the transistions were better in Slim and Trim because they were faster. The camera angles annoyed me but not as much as they did in TYTZ and DCA.
Overall, I like the workout itself. I wasn't crazy about the first section but the last 3 sections were okay except for where Tina has us bouncing the ball. The majority of the moves are Functional Fitness base. I usually find these moves awkward but not really so when I did Tina's workout. I also thought Tina cued well. I didn't have a problem following her at all unless I couldn't see her. If she was introducing a new move and the camera was on Emily or someone else. That was annoying.
I didn't love the workout, but I do think the workout is solid. And would give it between 3 and 3.5 stars. I would probably give it a solid 3.5 if it wasn't for Tina's wooing. That's out of 5 stars.

Hi y'all, great review Saundra. It seems the first batch of Firms are always defective.
I did manage to go garage hunting before Andrew's game. Ran out of time, to get to the with one with workout equipment. I found a beautiful rug for 1.00 for the kitchen. Rodney Yee's yoga dvd for 3.00 a 2 disc set. 3 for 1.00 Clemson koozies, yep somethings in life are just that important (which I saw my neighbor at the gas station and sold them to him and got more).
I don't know what was goin' on but I found 3 fanny lifters and a step this weekend. I am beatin' myself up because I didn't get them.
Didn't workout today at all, jumpin' up and down, rootin' for the team was my workout for today. They won and Andrew caught an interception and bobbled the ball from the receiver.
Today we went to Mellow Mushroom for pizza. It is excellent!
Got to get back in the groove.

Saundra between you and Lori I am really not sure about this Power Ball workout. There is a couple of workouts that I have that the camera angel just bothers me one is a Gin Miller workout Simply Strong its like she was cued wrong where the camera was supposed to be. And the other was A Christy Taylor workout don't remember the name but it was like the camera was always looking down at the class instead of right in front of the class.
Annette I have to ask what is Clemson Koozies? I remeber a couple of years a ago someone was throwing out a step and I said to my husband go get it, he said you already have one what do you need another one for. I was planning on making a mini step at the time, but Cathe came out with hers before I ever did my own mini step. So I gave the step to my niece who just loves it.
Lori how do you handle the junk food now? I feel like I go through times when I am doing really well, then for instance my husband will bring me home a bag a barbacue chips which I just love and end up eating the whole bag. Then it takes me days to get back on track.
Just walking for me today and tomarrow also.
Oh I recieved my 2 Firms today they look good but I did not preview yet.
My Hair Dresser called me the other day saying she is going to be working out of her house for a couple of days, so I am hoping to save some money. She said her prices would be cheaper than at the salon.

Lori, no the tickets for this phase are for Canadian residents only. I missed that during the initial email.
Annette, three fanny lifters wow. I actually have two fanny lifters. I forget why I have two. I think when I ordered BSS2, it also came with a fanny lifter and I already had a fanny lifter from BSS1.
Diane, I don't get some of the crazy camera angles that appear in workout videos. It is like the directors are trying for something spectactular- like they are going for an oscar, when the basic premise should be to show the moves as clearly as possible.
Ran 3 miles today and did Cathe total body stretching 3.

ughh, Monday already?
let's see...
Diane, your allowed to eat a bag of chips. I do eat c.r.a.p sometimes too. still have the rare binge. I think it's purely natural. you say it takes days to get back on track, that's good. you have the right mindset now to realize it's a give & take thing. keep doing that. now for myself the slip ups happen occassionally. I find that the less I eat the junk, the less I want it? & I always feel somewhat crappy after eating it? you do loose your tastebuds for it. the sweet & salty taste seems heightened. ok, when you binge, a tip I learned to stay on track is, keep in mind how much of the junk you ate & then "count" "figure" in those calories to your daily allotment. so, don't continue to eat too many more calories, especially that day. & knock it off the following days. it's not a license to keep eating junk. try & follow the 80% - 20% rule. 80% of the time, eat healthy & 20% treat yourself.
what 2 Firms did you get?
my hair salon is outrageously expensive. I wish my stylist would do it out of her home.
Saundra, I laughed at your "Oscar's" comment:D
so when do you get to preorder the Olympic tickets?
I have 2 fannylifters too. same deal, I ordered the BSS1 & then BSS2 package, cheaper deal cause I wanted the sculpting stick.
I'm so addicted to kettlebells now? uh-oh! I preordered that 10 minute solutions dvd & on ebay bought Iron Core 2. it's all that Kettlenetics fault!
I also have to get Gin Miller's kettlebell dvd (this is Annette's fault for enabling & mentioning this one)?! so bad. I swore I wouldn't buy anything more?
I have such major DOMS after the Kettlenetics dvds. I'm really loving it. I have 2 more dvds from that kit left to do. shooting for tomorrows strength workout with those.
the Kettlenetics hit every muscle group for me. is it because it's totally something new? I have been so sore, like never before.
Annette, a loud applause for Andrew! what a star!!
& you better not have jinxed my Wave Kit girl! with the comment of, "the first Firm batches are defective"!?? take that back, I say! please.
this weekend went by way too fast.

Great job for Andrew, Annette. That is so exciting.
Lori, I had to replace my sculpting stick, because the first one I had broke. Literally. In two pieces and not where the twigs come off. Right after I replaced it, they came out with that green one. If I like the 10MS KB workout, I may purchase more KB workouts. We will see.
Lori, they have so many phases for buying tickets, I am not sure when my phase is yet, but I am on the email list.
I am checking in with 4 sections of 10ms Sculpt, Tone, & Reshape.

Hi y'all, have not abandoned. I haven't worked out since Wednesday, could have, should have....ate too much this weekend.
But today I did Eion Finn's Yoga for Happiness, Bliss. In the middle of downward dog, he says, "get your booty up." And I am just crackin' up. There is also a dog in one of the scenes while everyone is doing downward dog. Then I did Firm's Super Sculpting.
Tryin' to get back on track tonight. I feel better. Did manage to go to garage sales this weekend. Three different sales I saw fanny lifters. I regret not getting them. And I did see a Step. Probably regret that as well other regrets, like that burgundy ottoman for additional seating. Did find a rug, table and cd stand that I am using for a planter.
Go ahead and blame me for enabling. I hope go karma comes your way with The Firm dvds.
I had a sculpting stick that I had to put paper in to keep the twigs from falling out. My neighbor ended up with that one,and I got a another one from Firm yayas. I never use the twigs anyway in the workout, and usually use 2 or 3lb weights.
Yep right proud of Andrew (this minute or until I go upstairs and see his room), taught him everything he knows ;). He had a scrimmage tonight with a rec team. They did well tonight. They really came together in Saturday's game.
I finally realized it is time to get my hair cut, and I have completely fried my hair from relaxin' it. It looks horrible. I was thinkin' a bowl or Halle's hair cut, I have had short hair but not that short, it is just that bad. Part of that is also, grey hair that leaves it dry and brittle and not takin' my Omega's supplements. Oh well. So much for long flowin' locks in my dream convertiable :D
Hope y'all have a great week!

October 6th, 2008, 11:29 PM
Annette, I never use the twigs either. and I don't think Halle is wearing her hair short anymore. I think she has a long weave.
Diane, I have seen some reviews that were not flattering about the Wave. Most of those reviews indicated that the workouts were not challenging enough. And the workout name changes bug me. I wish they would stop doing that.
I am checking in with 10 Minute Solution Dance It Off and Tone It up.

hello, hello everyone. I have read alot of bad reviews too (on the Wave). Sounds like it's a creaky noise maker? another death-box BSS3? peice of junk?
I don't go too much by other people's reviews anymore. I've learned to judge by my own opinion. I've jumped on far too many bandwagons from good reviews & ended up hating the stuff?
so many people panned the Kettlenetics & I held off for so long on not getting it & I wish I DID buy it ages ago. It's turned out to be one of my favorite purchases. guess we're all different.
the one thing I do not like already about the Wave is, they are too short for my liking. but, I will just do back to back dvd's (like the Transfirmers & other shorter Firms).
I'm still looking forward to trying it out. I hope it comes this week. I doubt it though, some people in the middles States still are waiting on theirs? it's our Thanksgiving this Monday so that will stall the post office even more!?
Annette, that was funny about 'loving Andrew' till you see his bedroom:D your too much. you get such cool stuff at your garage sale finds. ya, I was lucky on my SStick. some people had horrible problems. sand weeping out to not being able to undo the twigs. that would be funny with the dog on the yoga video. how cute is that?!
ok, now we're talking hair drama?! I just went back to my original hair color a couple of weeks ago. After years of bleaching it. sick & tired of getting my roots done. Long story short. nobody likes it! I've had comments about it looking like "I'm wearing a hat", to, "looks like a helmet". nice hey? these are comments from my own family. my hair is short at the moment Annette. like Demi Moore short in Ghost. I go from short to growing it out longer, back to short. I hate it short, then hate it long? never happy.
as for Halle Berry, like Demi, she could shave her head (like Demi did in G. I. Jane) & still look beautiful.
I seem to be the only one who likes my hair at the moment. guess, that's what matters, right? I'm just so happy I don't see any roots.
Saundra, Tone It Up from SI6?
Diane, how are your fingers heeling? & how's the house reno's going? I call them V2 & V3 too. still waiting on my mine. $40 savings is ALOT!
today my plans are to finish up the Kettlenetics dvds. there are 2-30 minute ones left. but, they are with the 8lb kbell. not sure if I'm ready. I will try. I was struggling abit on the last dvd on Sat & that was still with the 4lb kbell. the sculpting dvd was the toughest I did so far. plus, I woke up with a pounder of a headache this morning. slow going. I've been having quite a few headaches lately. not good.
bug you all some more later. gone for another coffee.
Lori
October 7th, 2008, 04:10 AM
ok, I'm going to eat 'crow' here. the last 2 Kettlenetics dvds were definitely not my cup of tea.
a very silly dance dvd "Flowmotion Dance" (too slow & broken down, not a fan of any real dance dvds. I prefer traditional training, basic exercise moves, if that makes sense) & the Blast dvd was too fast to follow for me.
so as for recommending the deluxe package (these 2 dvds) I would not, unless you want the 8lb kbell that came with it. (which I did, so all is not lost).
passed on these as a workout & decided to do: the Firm BSS2 Maximum Cardio Burn plus Abs (all that talk about the SStick gave me the urge to use it again, been awhile).

October 7th, 2008, 05:21 AM
Lori, That's the name of the whole workout. 10 minute solutions Dance It Off and Tone it UP. It is led by Jennifer Giradi (sp?)
Also, how many workouts come with the Kettlenetics systems? I think I would like the deluxe workouts because I like dance based workouts. It has been awhile for me to with Maximum Cardio Burn. The last time I did this workout, I remember thinking it didn't have a lot of cardio.
Alot of people hated the BSS3 box. I love mine. I like it better than the Transfirmer because the Transfirmer is so cumbersome to move. If fact I love the whole BSS3 vibe. I thought the FIRM with really trying to take it up a notch with the system. And then they went back. And then they went waaayyyy back. But I still love them.
Is your Thanksgiving like our (the US's) Thanksgiving?
Saundra
Lori
October 7th, 2008, 06:22 AM
Saundra, I agree with the BSS3, I think the whole series is fairly intense.
yes, our Thanksgiving is exactly the same. only a month earlier.
the basic Kettlenetics have a dancer feel to them too, but the deluxe kit Flowmotion is really dancey. broken down dance moves, (too slow, I lost interest).
the basic kit includes:
kb elements (teaches the kbell moves 20 min) (introductory)
flowmotion basics 20 minutes (pretty basic, learn some more new moves) (faster, alittle more intensity)
cardio balanced 40 min (actually ran longer, I think something like 54 min)
kb target toning 5 10-minute workouts
plus 2 15-minute workouts 1) stretch & strength 2) cardio fit ballet
the deluxe kit dvds are:
kb flowmotion dance 30 minute
kb total body blast 30 minute
I really only liked 3 from the basic kit. some would say rather expensive, but not really, considering I also got 2 kbells. I would still recommend for the fun factor & I seem to really enjoy the kbells. I can feel the results from using them. I'm looking forward to trying the other kbell workouts, that 10 minute solutions preorder one. plus the Iron Core 2, I ordered. & trying to preorder Gin's too.

Hi Lori:
These are the pinks I either don't have or have sent back:
Scult-iates
Cardio dance slimdown (sent back)
Beginner yoga kit
Pilates Band (sent back)
Resistance Cord (sent back)
Core Stability Ball
I do not like the Firm for Yoga, I feel like they are not really yoga instructures. Where did you pre-order Gin's kettlebell from?
Saundra were you ordering Gin Millers' Kettlebell workout? Do you know how she transformed her body she looks fabulous. She always looked great to me but now she looks so sleak.
Well I received Dangerous curves today I probably won't try it until Thursday. Saundra you were right about the music you can hardly hear it. Still didn't get the Stink Ball workout.
Annette I would love to spend one weekend with you going to these tag
sales I bet you get some good deals. Now you taught you Football? We like hearing from you whether you workout or not.
Do any of you ladies take Flaxseed in any form? I have been having a problem when I take it. I feel so bloaty and gasey when I take it. So I tried every other day. Still the same thing. I have noticed that my finger nails look much better not growing much but look better.
Today for me Ulimate Cardio Core workout /Christy Taylor, I think this was the second time I did it, I enjoyed it more this time then when I recieved it. I was looking for something different all this talk of new workouts I didn't feel like doing the same old thing. Plus I did 20 minutes of Yoga.
Lori
October 7th, 2008, 10:03 AM
Diane, I preordered Gin's kbell workout at her site.
I use ground flaxseed in my baking alot & buy flaxseed bread.
my mother cannot eat it. she has tried so many times & she too gets very bloated, gassy & cramps. even if she has small amounts of it. (like even a teaspoon). my hubby gets gassy, but is able to tolerate it in small doses. I told you all before, I really do have a cast iron stomach. I never noticed any symptoms or complaints everyone else was having? LOL
make sure you keep your flaxseed in the fridge. It spoils very quickly. faster than nuts. it does go rancid.
I did keep the Sculptilates, I didn't mind that one. & Alison's Pilates Band (rather short though). I didn't like or keep any of the yoga dvds either. Hated the resistance band dvd. I did keep the stability ball dvd. It's alright, again too short. makes me realize alot of $$ wasted. time to reign in on my spending. especially all this talk of recession.:( did you cancel the Stinkball workout dvd?
Diane I
October 7th, 2008, 11:48 AM
Hi Lori:
I didn't cancel the stink ball workout I guess it is backordered.
A stupid question how did you pre-order from Gin's site I don't see any link or anything.
I used to take the flaxseed gels mixes with the fish oil. I had no problem with it. Its when I started taking it by itself that has caused me problems.
I am quilty of the same thing so many workouts that I buy that I just don't use.

Hi y'all,
I was an assistant dance instructor to football players at college. It was a small school. Come on down any time and we will go garage "saling." I go just to get out of the house on Saturday. It is not like I have to clean, etc. Oh Clemson koozies are can or beer holders.
Tonight was a quickie with Eion. Oh lalala :D, then Kelsie tried to kill me with 20 minutes of kettlebells and Carol finished me off with G-Force 2! And it is only Tuesday.
I did take Flaxseed in tablet/pill form but certain times of the month leaves me constipated.
I have heard good things about Robin's Sculptilates.
I am turning in early, late night because of Andrew's scrimmage.

I got the heavier kbell with the deluxe Kettlenetics kit. it's 8lbs & it feels like more. it's amazing how swinging 8lbs is compared to the 5lb kbell. I think if I'm not correct Annette can help me on this one. That Kelsie/Firm is coming out with a 10lb kbell & dvd set in Dec.

You all have been chatty since I have been a way.
I take an omega 3 vitamin and I think flaxseed and fish oil are ingredients in it.
Lori, as far as I know the FIRM 10KB workout isn't coming out in December. Kelsie does have a workout called 500 Calorie Workout but that is not a KB workout. Also Collage has GIN Miller's workout available for pre-order.
Annette. Ditto. So many workouts so little time.
Diane, I may order Gin's workout. She is also coming out with a med ball workout that looks interesting. I just hope we don't have to bounce the ball.

So I am checking in with Crunch Time.
I am thinking that I am slotting this workout right after Steamin Cardio - in second place. I like the workout - alot.
The only criticisim that I can point out is the fact that I had to pull my step in and out for the different segment. But as Susan would say - "That is part of the workout".
The workout flew by. The music was awesome. Susan was fantastic. She is so precise in her instruction and movement.
The tricep pushups were difficult for me.
The one leg squat with the flying crouching tiger were difficult for me.
The move that I probably like the least was the 1 leg good mornings and the triceps kickbacks.

Saundra:
I never liked tricep dips or tricep pushups. For me anyway I think the dips put a strain on my shoulder ligaments. I did pre-ordered both of Gin's wokouts.
Lori I actually live in my mother-in-laws house we live in a separate apartment, it's about 25 minutes or so away from where we are living now. When we moved in way back when it was only supposed to be 5 years or so, so we could save money. Of course we never did save that money. My son was 4 years old when we moved in and now he is 26. Any Wave Yet?
Annette I am a fan of g-force 2 also. I didn't know flaxseed could make you constipated. To think about it, I think it causes me the same problem.
No workout for me today, I have to say I feel yesterdays workout in my inner thighs I had to think which workout I did yesterday. I didn't find the workout tough yesterday so I was suprised to feel muscle aches.
I have the niece and nephew for the next few days, no school and over the weekend my sister is going to Boston for her anniversary.

Now I can say I have done all the Original FitPrimes. Well, at least all the ones I have. I don't have the three Anna made. Although if they came on DVD, I might get them.
Floor Burn, I both love and hated this workout. For me this was the most challenging out of all the Orginal FitPrimes I have done. It is called Floor Burn and I felt the burn. I couldn't finish all the reps in a few spots. I need some serious lower body conditioning - floor style. I can do lunges and squats all day but put me on the floor with shoot outs, leg lifts, and donkey kicks - I feel them right away.
I love Susan. I think she is so great. I didn't even mind working out without shoes. I also love the ending to this workout and the same goes for Crunch Time. It is not long and drawn out. On some workouts - I am like - "End Already!"
So ranking the FitPrimes in order of like.
Steamin Cardio
Crunch Time
From The Ground Up
Fast Cheetah
Floor Burn
Strong Bear
Weights First
Core First
Up and Down
I have to say I pretty much like all the workouts. If there was something I didn't like it is probably the ball work where we had to bounce the ball, but I have yet to like that in anyworkout. My least favorite was Up and Down, although I would like to give that workout another try. In all honesty I probably won't get to until sometime next year. (That's How Many Workouts I have). Plus I am waiting the arrival of Cathe's STS system.

Hi y'all, I did tonight Tracie's Maximum Body and Baron's Core Yoga. I wanted to do more Eionn, but it is raining here and I have a headache.
Wow, Saundra you are good. I know I have tried at the Fitprimes at least once. But not the way you have done. I still want to do the rotation after I finish this one.
Magnesium helps with constipation. Walgreens sometimes will have it on sale. My system is so screw up because of fibroids and the cyst on my left ovary.
Great news about the electricity!! Anytime and any day now. So when is the party! :D Any excuse for me. LOL
I haven't heard about Kelsie comin' out with a heavier workout with kettlebells but than can change. If I can find a heavier kettlebell at Play It Again or on sale, that might be a possibility. I am not to rushed to find it. The 35lb dumbbell sale didn't go through. Which is probably a good thing.
Have fun with nephew and niece, I have never been to Boston. Dave had a client up there and an ex-girlfriend. The furtherest north I have been was Hartford, CT along time ago. I was born in Washington, DC/MD area.
Off to cook breakfast for dinner!

Hi Saundra:
Where every you want to go we will follow. We are already in workout rotations (I did have to look where we were) so we just start a new thread that is fine with me. Anna only did 2 Fitprime workouts Just Right and Flex Posture.
What do you think of Cathe's STS I did pre-order also, I think on my part there is going to be a lot of modifying.
Annette I went to Boston once for a wedding we didn't do any site seeing or anything. Now do you think I wouldn't let you all know when the party is?
Thanks for the info I feel like I am ready to burst, I will stop the flaxseed for a couple of days and see if that helps first.
Do you ladies ever just have to cook for yourself? I think I mentioned my Father-in-Law died in March, well since then my Mother-in-Law is always cooking food for us at first I thought it was fine. It keeps her busy so I really won't do anything about it. I just tell my husband to eat it. I have had enough pasta up to my ears. So the thing is I find myself either skipping dinner or eating whats quick. I know I have to plan better or just have something prepared and all I have to do is cook it or have my husband start it.
I know I am just being lazy.

Lori is quiet. I hope all is well.
The FIRMs new website is up. I guess it is better than it was before but still not sure it is worth my $10.00 bucks a month. I ordered the Wave as tomorrow is the last day for the *** savings. A FIRM friend who absolutely loves the FIRM wasn't too keen on the Wave, so I don't know.
Annette, I really wish I would have pulled these workouts out before now. There pretty good. If Anna made more of these types of workouts I would buy them.
Diane, I am hoping we get STS by Christmas because I really want to start the system January 4. If the whole systems isn't ready, hopefully Cathe and Chris will at least send out the first Mesocycle. I am hoping for good results from STS. I was hesistant to buy the systems because I really don't like working out in parts - the way she divedes the upper body into different muscle groups. I like to work either the entire upper, entire lower, or do a total body workouts. I don't really have the time to do 1/2 the upper body this day and the other half on another day. However, with that said it is my goal to do the STS at least one as prescribed.
Also, I am single so yes I cook for myself. Mostly I eat frozen entrees or I eat out. I really don't like to cook. At one point I wanted to like to cook and I bought all these kitchen gadgets and never used them. Now I am mostly down to the basics.
I am going out of townt this weekend, so when I get back which will be Monday, I start another thread under either General Fitness or Workout challenge. The rotatons items has so many sticky items that if Anna or Ginger adds another one we will be on the second page.
Oh, checking in with 10 Minute Solution Tone Your Troublezones.

Saundra enjoy your run. So so you get paid double for working today?
Well I did Dangerous curves today, I agree with Saundra that you can't hear the music to well but I actually forgot about it while doing the workout.
I thought it was a little repetative during the cardio sections. But I did like the workout overall. My band was a little tight so it was hard to do some of the moves, it needs to stretch some. I did like it better the the kettlebell workout.

Hi y'all
Hmmm, let me see, I didn't get a chance to workout or do yoga. Football practice and then Clemson played. They lost, so what a waste of beer. Then I made homemade banana bread muffins with nuts. I had just 2 for breakfast with ****er.
Tonight did Bryan Kest Energize and then The Firm Fat Blaster.
Oh, do y'all have this at your bank, mini tvs at the drive thru? I went to the bank today and they CNN. I would have prefered FitTv or Exericse TV or ESPN....
Saundra have fun on your run and holiday. If you feel a slight breeze, it is us! Give you inspiration and encouragement. Would it help if I dangle your fav beverage? :D
Diane, do you eat pasta all the time. If so cut back on it. It is the "gluten" or the glue that sticks to you. I read than in Anne Gittleman's book, "Fat Flush." I have to be really careful with pasta. Bread I eat on occassion so I won't get any spacier than what I am already. I prefer liquid carbs, actually. And Guiness Beer is good for you, but just one. Because it has natural wheat products loaded with vitamins. Just one, now.
Lori, do you have room for us at dinner. Have you ever seen "Guess Who is Coming To Dinner?" with Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracey and "Guess Who" with Bernie Mac.
That would be us comin' to dinner.
Do y'all have Monday off? Kids had the day off because of the fair. They didn't go to the fair though.
My weekend is Andrew's football game. Watch the USC/Kentucky game. Hopefully I can go to a few garage sales before the game. It is an early game. Take a nap and do errands.

Lori,
Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the suggestion.
I was over on the Collage site and Michele Olson who is a doctor by the way posted this about her 10 MS KB workout:
"Here's some detailed information about the "10 Minute SolutionKettlebell Ultimate Fat Burner DVD to be released on December 2, 2008:
Featured in "Fitness Magazine's" July '08 issue, dumbbell-infusedkettlebell-style exercise burns over 60 percent more calories thanusual strength routines. This unique thing about this workout is thatyou can do it with a dumbbell! An option recognized by the kettlebellmaster himself, Pavel Tsatsouline. A kettlebell is NOT a requirement todo this DVD. The workout is led by Michele Olson, PhD, exercisephysiologist at Auburn University who designed this program to sculptevery part of your body – FAST using kettlebell-style moves with eithera dumbbell or kettlebell. She leads the workout with a dumbbell andgives precise verbal cues if you already own and desire to use yourkettlebell. Recommended resistances for this program – with a dumbbell,a beginner can start with one as low as 3-5 pounds and progress to 10pounds. If you want to use your kettlebell, use one that is no heavierthan 8 to 10 pounds"
"Dear Donna:
Yes. The info came from me. It's my pleasure to provide you with information that can help you to know what to expect before purchasing the DVD. Many female consumers are not sure about going to the full expense of a KB either and need an avenue to get started with kettlle-bell style exercise. So, the workout is designed to provide you will all of the classic kettlebell moves - great glute tightening KB moves that include many "swings" and "squats", that you can couple with that dumbbell you likely already own (...though those who are already kettlebell owners/users will also enjoy the segments since we went to great lengths to provide very clear verbal cues for that consumer).
Best wishes!! "

ewww, creepy Saundra!? you must have been sending me some telepathy. I was just about to tell you, I read all this about the dvd being a dumbbell workout. (at VF forum).
I cancelled my preorder.
I'm not impressed with that, how about you?
thanks for the heads up though.
weird, usually the 10 minute solution dvds are so well made & thought out? guessing they are jumping too fast on the kbell wagon. I think they realize alot of people are getting in to it, & are really interested? oh well.
I think Gin knew this & got in quickly with it. good on her. I'm sure it will be a good dvd. people are panning it already. I liked the price for one. plus, with Gin I know what I'm getting. a good solid intermediate workout.
did you read at the Believer's Club that Janet & Sue Mi are gone now too?
I liked both your titles. I thought they deserved to be combined. they were both good, too hard to choose.

No I am not going to cancel right now. Hopefully Collage will put up a preview clip before December 2nd and then I will decide based on the clip.
My pre-order price was $9.99 and already I think the price has risen so I will probably stick with it. It will only be my 2nd KB workout that I own.
Well, not including the AB section in Amy Bento's Advance Step Challenge 3.

ya, it's up to to $12.99 already. I'm sure it's still a good dvd. maybe not for the kbell purists.
I'm gonna pass, I have the Kettlenetics, Gin's coming, plus I should get that Iron Core 2 dvd next week. I mean how many kbell dvd's do you really need right?
they basically just start repeating each other, or are so similar.
I think $9.99 is a good price for a workout, cheaper than the going to the gym.
how much kbelling' does Amy do in her dvd?
crm549
October 12th, 2008, 11:39 AM
Just 15 minutes. Mostly it is core work. I haven't done it yet. She (Amy that is) is also coming out with a KB workout in 2009 as part of her Dynamics Series. In that workout she is supppose to have three 20 minute workouts.
I will most likely buy that one as I am on a Amy Bento bandwagon. I thought about purchasing Gin's KB workout but I really don't need any more workouts.
But Let me now what you think of Gin's workouts.

Hi y'all,t onight I did Eionn Finn, Strength Yoga. He cracks me up with the dog in the workout. And he says, if you can't do this pose watch. Yea right about the poses, over the head, etc. But I did enjoy watchin' him though! I know I am so bad! Then I did Total Body with Tracie on the cover.
Saundra, glad you had a great flight. Did you try the Sculptilates? Did you meet up with Mary W.? I refuse Katie from using my laptop for FaceBook, it messes up like somethin' fierce!
Lori, great idea on the name. Andrew's team lost, 7-6. Kick off, Andrew ran for about 5 yards before fumbled. The coach has not worked with Andrew and kickoffs and speciality teams. He does the kickoffs as well.
I wish the banks would allow the customers to change the channel. Can you see me gettin' out of the car, doing aerobics or yoga?! LOL
Didn't find too much at garage sales, but I did find Andrew a pair of cleats, an Old Navy still in the box body wash set. And vases. My church member takes the flowers from the altar and makes arrangements for the sick and shut in. So I pick up cheap vases for her when I see them.
Did see a mini trampoline but didn't get it.
Hope y'all have a great week!

for sure (about Gin's (letting you know)).oh, I'm interested in Amy's kbell workout. I only tried Amy in her 10 minute solution band dvd? I remember I quite liked her & the dvd, but didn't keep it.
this is when I really cleaned house, so to speak on the dvd collection.
like I said before, I only kept pretty much anything Firm old & new, everything of Anna's.
the only other titles I have are Jari Love & Karen Voight's Sleek Essentials Kit. (I like this kit periodically, more for a stretching routine).
the Kettlenetics was the only real new thing, outside of the box.
Kelsie's kbell really hit it off for me. it made me venture out to the Kettlenetics. which was really a surprise, because I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.
hence making me want to try the other kbell dvds. which I understand are nothing like Kettlenetics.
like you, I need another workout dvd like a hole in the head!?
I hope my Wave comes complete next week. I will be so cheesed off if it's missing something. especially I have to wait eons as it already is.
the Kettlenetics kills my core too. but, it also hits the b.u.t.t & thighs. one of the dvd's with the 10 minute target areas, really fried my inner thighs. it really is too bad we don't live next door to each other. it would be so nice to just hand it over for you to try.

Annette, how come you passed on the mini tramp? you have got to be one of the most thoughtful people I know. (your always picking up something for someone else, or thinking of someone else) the vases, how nice is that?
& yes, I can picture you getting out of the car & changing the channel for some Fittv. LOL
which Tracie, you talkin' about? how can you all do 2 dvds? I'm burnt out after one. you all are making me feel old. (I am the oldest:eek:, quit rubbing it in!).
Diane, when you were asking about if only 1 kbell was always used. I did see a dvd when I was looking around, that used 2 kbells at the same time. you were required to have 2 kbells of the same size. I don't think it's very commonly done this way.

Hi All,
Annette I usually don't eat that much pasta I don't find it very satisfying or I should say it doesn't stick with me long. It's just that my mother-in-law makes it quite often and when I am being lazy and don't feel like cooking I just eat it when I know I shouldn't. I bet if the mini trampoline was the one you wanted you wouldn't have passed up on it.
Sorry about the team loss.
Lori how do you know you are the oldest? i know I am older than Saundra but I am not sure about you or Annette.
I was thinking about you this weekend I finally remembered to bring my camera to take pictures of my house I thought I charged the batteries long enough but after 2 pictures the camera went dead.
Saundra I like name Lori came up with also.
so are you doing anything fun on vacation besides fixing computers?
I haven't gone on vacation since we started building our house I am really feeling like I need a get away, not that I have the money to though.
Today one of my favorite Pinky Firms Total Body Toner.
Oh I finally did make that grape jelly boy what a mess, It's taking a while to set though. I actually thrown in some frozen fruit that was sitting in the freezer forever. It looks good I how it tastes I don't know.

Hi y'all, I have written on Yayas what a 2nd year of weird football seasons. My friend called me and said that Bowden was no longer the coach at Clemson today. Was he fired or Bowden resigned, we will never know. Kinda like the JFK conspiracy theory. This has been the talk of both sports stations. Yea I do like college football.
Andrew had practice today and I take the other boy in the neighborhood, so I stay for practice on Mondays. When I don't carpool, I usually take Andrew and come back and workout. No workout for me today.
The reason why I didn't get the trampoline, one I was rushin' around before Andrew's game. I didn't see what kind of condition it was in. It looked pretty good when I glanced at it.
We went to Winston-Salem, NC for vacation to the Movarian Village. I enjoy history and historical vacations. Then we went to a winery and on to Asheville to eat at my fav pizza restaurant. A'ville Pizza and Brewery. Next year I wouldn't mind taking the kids to the farm where Habit for Humanity started in GA. It is an actual working farm. And see what REAL work is!
Eleanor is a really sweet woman at the Episcopal Church, she enjoys visiting. For some reason I had mentioned garage sales and she asked when I see cheap vases to pick them up for her. I also attend the Catholic Church with my kids. So I have a foot in both churches, just don't tell the Pope. :D
Goin' to bed, so I can get up early to find an USA today, this Clemson/Bowden in the middle of the season is somethin' else. Yep football is a religion in the south!

Good day fellow Fitness Favorites Partners!!!:D
I see everyone had a fun & busy weekend. for me, it certainly went by too fast!?
Diane, I bet your jam turned out fine. If it looks good, it'll taste good.
the only jam I ever made was years ago. A freezer jam, nothing to write home about.
I read I was the oldest when Linda posted. she stated her stats, & so did you all. I think everyone did. now did you post your name up there Diane? LOL
your pink Firm is also one of my favorites (which I can't say often enough with the pinks).
Saundra, how was your run? how'd you make out? hope your getting some rest & relaxation!
Annette, my DH went to a College Football game, I think in Athens, Georgia (I'll have to ask again about exactly where, & who). He said it was nuts!!! Nothing at all like the CFL or NFL. He took pictures of the crowd & game. He loved it. Was quite an event for him.
Isn't there always some fun drama going on with coaching staff? LOL & gosh darn it, we never do find out the whole story!? something went on alright...to all of a sudden not be there in the middle of the season!? hmmmm, to have been a fly on the wall.
well, I hope that rebounder has not been calling your name in your dreams! or haunting you. oh, to have just a minute more of time!
well kiddies, I mean FF workout partners. wish me luck, send me your karma, that my Wave kit comes today, along with Anna's dvds. (yes, it's true, I'm still waiting for those).
plans to do another Kettlenetics today.

October 14th, 2008, 12:35 PM
Hi y'all, good karma and good vibes!
Lori, glad your early Christmas present to yourself came in today! I love gettin' workouts to myself :D College football rules in the south *** time. Your husband went to University of Georgia (GA) game, if he was in Athens. Did he UGA the dog. GA is a rivalry to SC and FL. GA/FL is the largest outdoor cocktail party. The game is actually held in Jacksonville, FL. My priest at the Episcopal church graduate from GA. At Pentacost we were red. We had a picnic and Father Charles wore his GA cap. Andrew said, "momma GA must by holy because Father Charles has a GA hat." I just died laughing.
Diane, It is a loooong story about the Episcopal/Catholic church. I usually go to 8:00 service better known as the "drive thru mass" on Sunday. The early service has no music, about 25 people and 45 minutes long. After church I go to Food Lion and get discounted meat and dinner for next week. Come home workout, cook dinner, take a nap and piddle.
If my children serve and if Katie sings, I skip 8:00 at the Episcopal Church and attend the 10:30 service. Usually we go out to dinner after the 10:30 service.
Saundra, how is Houston? Everyone doin' okay down there.
Yep it is a *** ole mess in re to Bowden/Clemson. I have been listening to sports talk. Might have to apply for that position! :D I'll get those boys whipped up in no time. Get a Firm/Fitprime rotation goin' they would KNOW what hit them! :D
Lori
October 14th, 2008, 01:35 PM
Annette, you were right. University of Georgia. & he said it was definitely one huge cocktail party. He laughed when I said you said that:p
& you SHOULD apply for that position!! LOL
Diane, I haven't previewed anything. I will try it on Thursday with a yoga mat. apparently the mat was shipped separately on the same day.(at least I got the dvds, some people were missing the mat & the dvds). Maybe it will arrive tomorrow? I was very surprised to see how small it is. I was expecting it to be larger. like a step. it's like Cathe's short step. not a long one. for some reason I thought it would be longer. it's very well made. Very durable & strong looking. quite stable, nice to look at. Looks like the infomercial. I think it will be fun, but difficult.
I've read so many mixed reviews. about 1/2 the people love it, & the other 1/2 not so much?
people have said that 30 minutes on the Wave is comparable to any other 45 minute workout.
we had our elections today. yes, I rocked the vote. yours is coming up soon to. don't forget to vote.
I miss Saundra.
Lori
October 15th, 2008, 03:22 AM
ok, so I couldn't wait. I did 2 of the Wave workouts this morning. Undecided.
it was just ok. maybe I will like it more after I've done it more?
it's not that I didn't like it, it's just not what I was overall expecting.
it reminds me of the Transfirmer kit. only easier.
I thought I wasn't going to like it after the 1st dvd's warmup with Allie. It wasn't the best of cueing, & it was moving alittle too fast for my liking. although I was able to catch up, so to speak.
so far this kit will be for my easy days.
one thing I did not like, is the ab work on the Wave is rather uncomfortable.
the kit reminds me alot of Gin's Ramp kit. (which I got rid of, because it was too easy). this kit is slightly harder because of the weights being used.
we'll see. maybe I'll feel sore tomorrow. to be totally honest, after doing the Kettlenetics, this seemed abit lame-o.
have a great day everyone!
oh, I used my yoga mat & did not have any slipping at all.

Hi ladies.
I have had a couple of busy days.
Houston was fine. I really went to check on my mom because back in April, she lost sight in her left eye and hasn't gotten it back and the doctors do know why. But she is doing fine except for the fact she doesn't want to drive.
I had two mid-term projects and 1 mid-term test to do. Of course I waited until the last minute. The projects weren't actually do until today but I knew that I would be driving down to Columbia today and wanted to get them turn in yesterday.
Lori, I got my Wave as well. Not sure yet what I think. I have only tried the Express Abs and Ride the Wave. I think that thing is going to end up collecting dust. We will see.
I went back and got all my times for my 5K run. And I was way off from what I thought my last year's time was:
2008- chip time 31:01 clock time 32:37
2007 - chip time 31:25 clock time 32:45
2006 - chip time not given clock time 33:58
So I have made steady improvements. For some reason I thought my time was over 34 minutes for last year's race.
Next year I will try for a chip time of 30:00.
Well I have just had a long drive. So I am going to go get something to eat and then I think I am going to bed. I know that is not very sociable but I am tired. I will catch up with everyone at the meet and greet in the morning.
Annette will I see you either Thursday or Friday? I am probably not going to hang around for the Saturday activities because I have tentative plans for Saturday when I get home.

Lori is the firm going to have any more workouts with the Wave, The one thing I liked about the pink Firms was there really wasn't anything that you couldn't use in another workout. Oh I finally did Slim without the Gym. I liked the workout better than the equipment that game with it. The Jump rope was way to long and when I tried to shorten it I couldn't get the little cap things off, so I didn't use the jump rope I prettended and it was still a good workout without it.
For some reason the resistance band just annoyed me and I don't like that loop thing at all. I would rather use the band tie it like Cathe does in her workouts.
Saundra glad you are back. If you don't mind me asking what is chip time?
So your mother is still allowed to drive. It must be hard to drive, I think I would be so nervous.
Annette did your son's team get a new coach yet?
Diane
Lori
October 15th, 2008, 01:50 PM
Diane, yes there are to be 3 more workouts for the Wave. there is the deluxe kit, which comes with 2 more dvds, plus that band you hate. LOL....I don't like it either. & then in Dec. I think Kelsie is supposed to have a Wave dvd released. and to answer your question from the other day...yes, I do regret the purchase. I don't think it burned enough calories. next time, even though it says not to use heavier weights than 8lbs, I'm going to.
how's the house renovations going?
my friend had to renovate their house last year. she was living in a trailer on her property, with 2 teenage boys & her husband. by the end, she was practically pulling out her hair. she couldn't wait to get back in her own house.
Saundra, did you order the deluxe Wave kit too?
way to go on your run time!
crm549
October 16th, 2008, 04:06 AM
Lori, yes I did get the deluxe kit. What I am waiting for is Kelsie's workout.
Diane, usually at these races there are a lot of runners. For the 5K I just ran, there was about 1500 runners. Everyone can't cross the start line at the same time so they issue everyone chips that hook to your shoe laces and when you cross the start line, the chip that you are wearing gets activated and when you cross the finish line it get deactivated with a final time.
So only runners in the front that cross the start line at the sound of the gun, will have a the same chip and clock time.
For longer races they are used to curtail cheating. If you know somebodies bib and chip number, you can actually go online and check their progress to see what mile they are at.
I had a friend who ran the Marine Core Marathon. When we saw she was at mile marker 20, we headed down to the event to cheer her on for the final miles.
I worked out with Rebekah, Lousie, and Kelly this morning. I have a two oclock class with Alison and another FIRM master class later tonight.

Saundra:
How was the workouts? Are they using the Wave at all?
Lori have you ever sent anything back to the Firm? I have at Amazon but they charged me 15% for open items.
The house we are doing is actually a new home, we bought the land 9 years ago. After many town board meetings, we finally got our building permit September of 2007. My hubby is actually a contractor we started out really well getting the house framed and sided and windows done. But he was building an addition for someone also who ended up not paying him like they were supposed to so our house getting finished slowed down *** time. The electric company came today so we should have electricity soon all they have left to put in is the transformer.
My workout for today Sculpting ball workout and a section of A.M. Yoga

Diane, that's too bad about your husband having to do all that doing work for nothing. & then you have to wait longer. will he get paid eventually?
are you still shooting for it to be all done by Christmas?
no, I haven't ever sent anything back to the Firm. it would cost me way too much. I have to pay duty when my US packages arrive. plus when I intially place an order the shipping & handling is double. I would have to pay more $$$ to send anything back. when I order something from the US, I'm basically stuck with it.
I'm finding I'm becoming more & more disenchanted with the new Firm.
which Sculpting Ball workout did you do?

Diane I did get to try the Wave. It was our 7pm class. Ms Annette was there as well looking fabulous.
I thought the Wave was fine on the stable side, but on the side that rocks, it was moving all over the place. Emily states if it does that, we are not applying even pressure.
The classes have been great. The instructors really push it in the live class. In the live classes they still use the Transfirmer a lot.
This morinng we did a 3 mile walk run. Our next activity is in about 45 minutes.

My husband was hoping for Christmas if some of the money he is waiting for to come through. Two seperate clients owe him money. He is thinking one will come through they are usually pretty consistant with paying him. As for the other one he just keeps sending them the bill and will be charging them interest. They wanted things done way behond their means. For instance a $10,000 front door and railings on the deck for 5,000 which they wanted my husband to buy he refused to put anything on his account. And he will not get them a C.O.
Saundra I would like to see the Firm put out some new workouts for some of these gadgets that just sit there. How many more days are you there?

Diane,what is C.O.?
I hope you & your husband get your $ that is owed to you. that's terrible! $10,000???!!! that must be some front door! too bad you can't get the $ upfront, before you do any of the work. or at least a good portion of it. guess it doesn't work that way. nobody wants to pay for something that's not done yet.
my sentiments exactly on your comment of the Firm gadgets. the Transfirmer was not utilized enough.
at least the fannylifter was, & could be used as a tall step in a whole lot of other workouts.
I believe the Wave will be used even less than the Transfirmer. I really wish I didn't buy it. I sure do hope I will like Kelsie's dvd & the b.u.t.t dvd from the deluxe package.
Saundra, did you get your mat in your kit? I still never got mine.

I am pretty sure that a C. O. is a certificate of occupancy.
Boy since I am reached the 5 pound weightloss mark my eating has been so out of control. Its like I am a crazy woman.
Well I received the stink ball workout your right Lori it definately stinks I put in out in the hall way. I actually have another 4 pound ball that I could use. It did not stink like that, not that I even remember a stinky smell when I got it.

Lori. Yes I did get a mat with my WAVE kit. The mat in my opinion is very flimsy. I can't believe kits are missing items. That is unacceptable. Lori I agree about the Transfirmer and the thing is they still use the transfirmer in studio workouts. I would love to see new workouts for the Transfirmer.
Diane, Tina posted that she got her power ball kit last week and her ball stunk too.

try & maintain it Diane (your 5lb weight loss). don't eat back what you lost. hang on to that loss. tough it out. ;) it's your body trying to win the battle with you over more food. don't give in. stick to some real low calorie choices. you can get over it eventually.
that stink ball is so gross. LOL, I love how we have named it the stink ball. the Firm's infamous "STINK BALL".
well I think that's cool that your husband can at least put this C.O. tag so to speak on the owners.
Saundra, I used my yoga mat which worked fine, but it still cheeses me off. I thought I would have got it by now. I know I'll be having to phone customer service. I don't believe they sent one out to be totally honest. I'm so not impressed. It's just never ending with Firm Direct. It's always a constant battle on every order, I swear. So far with the duty & all the shipping charges, I paid $150 (uh, ya, you read that right. sick huh?) for the Wave kit, & the deluxe kit. I think they should have made darn certain they would have gotten my order straight, don't ya think?
sorry, venting on you all.
did you get Anna's email about the Tortoise & Hare are about to be ready for shipping. & the other fantastic news about 5 more Firm titles re-released.
Oh, my budget.....WHY? (in my whiney Nancy Kerrigan cry)

Lori:
What do you think the 5 Firm workouts are going to be?
You don't have to pay anything for the missing mat do you? I have heard about shipping problems with Firm Direct but I have never had any. Watch next time I order from them I am going to have problems.
I need to get back into doing some of the harder Firm workouts even though I like some of the time lengths of the Pink Firms they just aren't has tough has some of the previous ones.
Thanks for the support Lori I am just feeling a little bummed and out of control. I did get back out my journal I have been sloppy about using it.
Even though it's not the answer I did get to the store today for lower calorie snacks so at least I am not eating the junk food that my hubby has around.
Saundra how do you find a live Firm workout compared to doing a dvd at home?
Hi Annette we hear you have a great bod.
Diane
Lori
October 18th, 2008, 02:20 AM
Diane, I'm betting I WILL have to pay more the mat. probably duty again, because it came in a SEPERATE box. I have only had a couple of orders that actually came out correct from Firm Direct. most have been disasters of some sort. I always say it's the last time I order from them, I'm such a fool. I go for the member rate, thinking it will be some saving, it never turns out that way.
I know where your coming from on the losing weight. been there done that. your body just wants those darn extra calories, fights you every step of the way to get those 5lbs back. it's like 2 steps forward, one step back.
hang in there, you can do it. some days are worse than others aren't they? remember don't undereat, it only makes you hungrier. if you are gonna eat some of the junk your hubby has around, make a deal with yourself, portion out a bowl of whatever it is, (& make it so you'll be at least satisfied) if you go too puny, it ain't gonna work. but, make a deal with yourself, you can have "this or that", & that's it. no more.
I haven't a clue about the 5 Firm titles, do you? it's something to look forward to. I'm sure we will be so happy with whatever titles they are. I hope Cardio Step Mix (is that right) is one of them. exciting, can't wait to see what they are. I hope I can afford them by then. my budget, I don't know?
I hear ya, loud & clear on the Pinks not being quite as tough. they are good to have in a rotation though, for the body to get an easy workout. but, your right, not alot of calories being burned for me either.
when are you gonna try your stink-ball?
Saundra, flimsy mat? hmm, I wonder now doing the dvds on my yoga mat, when I do finally get the Wave mat will it be sliding around like all the other complaintants?
I finally got my Vol 2 & 3 this week, so today I'm going to do Vol 3. looking forward to it. been mostly running on the treadmill. I finally jogged for 3 miles straight. this is a first for me. I've been gearing up to it for a long time. always having to interval, either after 1 1/2 or 2 miles. I was soaking wet. still have not made it to 5 miles in a hour. closest I get is 4.8 miles. I just feel it's coming. I'm so close. I hope by next month?
anyone have some exciting plans this weekend? nothing going here. we know what Annette will be doing! her beloved Football! rah-rah-rah!

Yes I do have a cat, she is going to be ten this December she a Munckin she is only supposed to weigh about 8 to 9 pounds but she weighs about 12. Her name is Casey. I also kind of at least during the week days take care of my sister's cat and dog, my niece and nephew always ask me how I get them to follow me all of the time, I always if you feed them once in a while they will follow you anywhere. I want a dog though, my cat is more for my husband than me, even though I am the one who wanted the cat. We had a cat before this one who would do everything with me no matter if I was reading on the computer, knitting, sleeping, he was 17 when we had to put him to sleep, I missed him b.i.g. time.
Do you have all of Anna's Firm? Cardio Step Mix is a fun one, at least we will know it will have Chapters in it since Anna is doing it. I did notice some of the pink Firms have chapters.
No plans for the weekend I did finally take a couple of pictures of my house, now how do I post them for you do you know?
Annette were you always a Football fan? I have to be honest I don't know much about it.

Diane, apparently the forum was having trouble with posters using obscene language & the rigged it up so to speak, so you couldn't use foul language. words like b.u.t.t & b.i.g & a host of others were made so you couldn't use them. hope that makes some sense.
I love animals too. we always have cats or dogs. we go from one to the other. we've had 2 of each at one time. I know, when they pass away it's so hard. really is like losing a family member. it's so traumatic. that's the hard part about getting so darn close to them. especially they are your friends for so long.
dogs are harder to keep than cat's though, don't you think. I think they are more work. Casey weighs the same as my dog. LOL
I'll see if I can get my husband to post a picture of my dog tomorrow?
that's so cute about your neice's & nephews pets following you around. so sweet they are.
I am clueless on posting pictures. maybe Saundra will know, she seems to be a genius at that kind of stuff. she should be able to help. if not, my husband will be able to. I can get him to explain it so it's easy to do. I think?
I do have all the Firm titles that are available on dvd. I did have the original vhs too, but I don't have any more vhs. I never did have the Cardio Step Mix, that is the only title I never did own. how about you? so you had Cardio Step Mix? & you really liked it? I loved step aerobics, period. do you still have/use vhs?
Sorry Annette, not a football fan here either. now my husband would LOVE to have you as his wife. ;)
my arms are so sore from Vol 3! I started to get really sore biceps around suppertime. did you all get sore from it? guessing because it was something new again. I just love Anna's Firms. I am so looking forward to the surprise of the new titles being released. which ones are you all wishing for? I voted for pretty much all the cardio titles.
didn't really do all that much today, but housework. nothing exciting.

Lori:
Yes I still use VHS, There is still some workouts that I have on Vhs that are not on dvd. I have some old Cathe VHS, I have some Firms that aren't on dvd yet or I just didn't get the dvd version. Sometimes I feel like it's a waste of money rebuying the same workout especially some of those workouts that are only 30 minutes and the workout isn't even chaptered. Yes I do Cardio Step mix once in a while its just that its 62 minutes and sometimes I don't give myself enough time for a workout so alot of the time 45 to 50 minutes just works for me.
By the way Lori was is the time difference from the East Coast to where you are? Is it like the California to NY time difference?
