For those of you who used to eat junk for most of your meals and have made the transition to eating healthy on a regular basis I have a question.
Did you go cold turkey on the junk or did you take it slowly? Either way did you have bought of getting sick on your tummy?
I would like to begin eating healthy as I feel better when I eat veggies & fruits, but it seems that when I incorporate more of them in my life, I get violently ill on my stomach. I have not talked to a doctor about it b/c Ifigured it was that I was doing all cold turkey and that was problematic. I have noticed noe though, occasionally if I eact 1 extra seving of veggies I can get violently ill on my tummy and that depresses me so I quit & eat junk again.
I will say I grew up eating 95% veggies & fruits virtually no meat and never had this problem. When I started working and went out to eat my body reacted the same way until it got used to eating out and everytime I attempt healthy eating this happens, so I am thinking it might be that my body is used to the fattening foods & not used to good foods. http://www.whfn.com/board/images/smilies/confused.gif It also seems that I ate wrose after getiing married & when DH was out of work & we ate hamburgers almost all the time (yuk!)
I cannot afford to be sick on my stomach all the time, but really want to eat mainly veggies & fruits to keep my enegy & health up.
Is there some secret to this that I don't get???
Note- I am allergic to pork and even if I get just a tiny piece I get si

I took it slowly. I started first by making ONE change to my diet every 3 weeks. I can't remember exactly but something like first I increased my water intake. I carry a bottle of water every where. Three weeks later, added a snack of veges to my day...3 weeks later, a snack of fruit.... a spinach salad before each meal.........etc. I started that in January. By April I decided to join Weight Watchers to add more structure and support. It was a really easy transition to make by then, to get rid of the rest of the junk. I started writing down everything I ate. Along with the fruits and veges, it is important to eat enough fiber and protein. I have lost 42 pounds now. Good luck to you!

You cannot improve on Lori's advice. Follow it. Especially, starting with the increase in water. Lori - you need to write a book!

The slow additions seem like a feasable change that I can do too. Thanks!

I did it drastically. one day i was into everything processed and the next day i just dropped everything and went all natural.

two days of hell, headaches, dizziness and but after two days, it was a breeze.

I lost 5 pounds and one inch in my waistline in less than one month.
