I just received the 5 DVD set in the mail and I was just wondering if anyone has done these. I guess I thought they were going to be your more relaxation type Yoga w/o but from the names, I think they are made for weight loss & toning, which is something I definitely want/need to do. Does anyone know how difficult these are??? I am very new to Yoga and I hope I am not in over my head so to speak. :)
Thanks so much.

Hi Sandi! I have these and love them, but I've only tried a couple. My favorite is the hips and thighs one. The ab one is also great. I am not sure about the one with weights though. I need to try the rest of them before my vacation is over. I absolutely love Sarah Ivanhoe. She's my favorite instructor for yoga. :)
ETA: These are catered towards beginners with room to grow. I am not new to yoga, but I haven't been the best at sticking to it; these are perfect for me, and I could still improve a lot.

Oh,thank you so much for replying to my post. I was really wondering if I had purchased something that may be way out of my league. :D Your glowing report is SO very encouraging. I am so excited to try these. I hope to do one or two in a couple hours. I didn't even really want to open them unitl I heard something about them. :)
I really like Sara Ivanhoe too. I like Suzanne Deason as well. I wasn't real crazy about Patricia Walden but that is just me and I am so new to Yoga (what do I know-lol). I have one of Suzanne Deason's Balance Ball w/o which I like too.
I have the FitPrime series ordered and am really hoping I get them tomorrow but if not I should next week. I am hoping to incorporate my Yoga with the FitPrime series. I did the Firm for a couple months which I liked but it is just too hard on me so I am hoping the FitPrime will be a good compromise. :)
I hope to hear from you again soon. Please let me know how you do with the Yoga Makeover.
Thanks again.

Well, I just did three of the five w/o and I do like them. I just wish they were all on 1 DVD but I know that is why they are called 20 minute w/o. :D I didn't do the AB one or the one I think they say is suppose to be for the w/e. I will be anxious to see how sore I am tomorrow. :)

Hi Sandi! If you like Sarah, and don't have this one already, I highly recommend Candlelight Yoga. It won't do much for weight loss, but it's the best, most relaxing stretch ever. :D

Jenn, I actually do have Candlelight Yoga and really like it as well. Howver, there is some move in there that seems to aggravate my back and so I think I need to learn some modifications to prevent that from happening. My favorite one still has to be Suzanne Deason's that I mentioned but that is just me and how I feel from doing the practice, ya know?

Sandi, what's the one from Suzanne that you like the most? I have a couple of hers. :)

Jenn, I have Gaiam's Yoga Conditioning For Weight Loss. What other ones would you recommend that would be good for a beginner??? I do know I want more of hers for sure. :)
Thanks!

I have that one, too! I also have Yoga Conditioning for Women by Suzanne that I'm going to try this week, and I'll report back. :) If you don't have Sarah's Joy of Yoga and Yoga for Weight Loss, they are great, too. Also, her Yoga on the Ball is a favorite of mine. A really beautiful yoga video is Ali MacGraw's Yoga Mind and Body, and it can be modified for beginners.

I am going to get that Yoga Conditioning for Women. :) Thank you so much for sharing your opinion on the w/o. It s/l you and I have similar tastes. :) I will be really looking forward to your review of Suzanne's Yoga w/o since I am so interested in it. I need to get back to Target and see what else they have there that I might want to get. :)
In the 5 DVD set I got of Sara's yesterday, there is one called "Weight Loss". Is that the same as the one you referred to??? It is only 20 minutes (all of them are in the set). Maybe it is a portion of an original by the same name ???
Are you saying that Sara has a Yoga on the ball or Suzanne? I assume Sara. :)
I will look into Ali's Yoga you mentioned too. It sounds wonderful!

Hi Sandi!
Check out www.deepdiscountdvd.com (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com) for the Ali yoga video and maybe the others also if you can't find them in the stores. Sara has a combo DVD that has two workouts on it made by Crunch. It includes the Joy of Yoga workout and the Yoga for Weight Loss workout. Both are about 40 minutes each, so this DVD is a great buy because it has both workouts on it. Yes, it's Sara that has a yoga on the ball video, and I think it's at deepdiscount also! Deepdiscount doesn't charge shipping, and I rarely see lower prices than theirs anywhere else. I'll report back on the yoga workout for sure. :D

Jenn, I do shop at DD DVD quite a bit. :) I didn't see Sara's combo DVD over there but I believe the weight loss one may be the one I received in the 5 DVD pkg. of her 20 min. Yoga Makeover (a series of 5 DVDS that I have) but you say it is 40 min. so perhaps not. ??? I did see the Ball Yoga she has at DD and if I can't find it locally I may purchase it. I really want some more of Suzanne Deason though.
As an aside quetions, could you tell me what daily thread might focus more on the FitPrime w/o and perhaps even some Yoga, but mainly the Fitprime series is what I am looking for. From the threads I have read, it seems a lot of people are quite advanced and I would really prefer to get in a group that are more at a beginner/intermediate level. I am 51 and have some significant back issues so I don't think I will ever progress to an advanced level.
Thanks so much!

Sandi -
Come join us on the 50 year old check-in. We are fun. All levels. And we love new people! We also have various aches and pains due to our age - hot flashes too!
I am a yoga fan. I take a class once or twice a week.

Susan, thank you for the lovely inviite; however, I have posted a couple times on your thread but you all seem so more advanced than I am. :) I am really intersted in finding a thread/group somwhere that might focus more on the FitPrime series, Yoga, or a less intense level of exercise that I can relate more to, if you know what I mean. :)
Again, thank you for your invitation.

Hi Sandi, :)
The title of the Crunch workout I was talking about is Total Yoga. I think Amazon and some other places like that have it now (Collage, too, probably) - DDD used to have it, darnit. The other workout on it is called Fat Burning Yoga - I was wrong on the title. It is different from the 20 minute one, and my guess is it's a notch or two harder since it's longer. I am scheduled to do the 20 minute Weight Loss today.
The Starting Over thread may be the right level for you? (I do LOVE our 50s check-in ladies, too). I'm also on a thread where people are at different levels if you ever want to join us any time - the 2005 Challenge. We all have different goals. JoanMarie is one of our posters, and she's currently working on a yoga certification and is full of knowledge about yoga.
I'll check back today after my workout. :D

Sandi!
I just happened to be floating around and saw that Jenn recommended the "Starting Over" thread for you. We would love to have you! We are kind of all over the place in terms of how much time we are able to devote to fitness, but we do focus a lot on the FitPrimes (original + WHFNs). Take a look through this week's thread and see if it might be a good fit.

Thank you Jenn for the info on the other Yoga w/o. Also, thank you and Mia for the suggestion/invite to the Starting Over thread. I did just make a post over there. :)

Hey Sandi! You're welcome. I was supposed to do the Weight Loss workout today, but wasn't in the mood for it at the end of my workout. I did some parts, and it looked good though. I prefer my yoga more slow, relaxing and stretchy, rather than the moving through the poses quickly-type. :D

Jenn, I am with you - I totally agree about the faster Yoga w/o. They are not my favorite. I try to think of the Yoga 20 minute ones though as ones I do for weight loss. Had I realized before purchasing this 20 min. set that they were that way they are, I probably wouldn't have bought them. Some people may really like them and they are good - just not what I personally like.

Hey Sandi, I thought of one more recommendation for you, since you like the relaxing, stretching type of yoga, too. :) It's Pure Tranquility from Rainbeau Mars' Vinyasa Flow Sacred Yoga series. There are other videos in the set that are faster and move through the poses quickly; but this one you can buy separately and just do the gentle flowy stuff. It's a beautifully filmed video, too. Let's see if my link will take you right to it: http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=GOL001726:D
