Hello ladies:

Has anyone tried an all fruit detox diet? I am thinking about trying this diet because frankly, I'm tired of all the animal meat I've been eating for the last two years trying to adhere to the low carb/high protein diet plan. I just want to clean myself out and wipe the taste of meat from my mouth!

I've been craving green grapes lately and trust me, I am not a fruit eater by any means but I see all cravings as the body telling me what it needs.

I was thinking about just eating low sugar fruits the next few days and was wondering if anyone else tried this. I would appreciate all input and advice you can provide regarding this.

XO

I've not done an all-fruit diet...but I have done 1-3 day fruit/juice fasts. Fasting on fruit alone (or real fruit put through a juicer (ie. not manufactured fruit juice, but real fruit juice) for 1-3 days is a GREAT way to clean out your system. Beware that it is not as easy as it sounds to eat only fruit or fruit juice for 1-3 days! Hang in there though! And plan to do it from a Fri-Sun, as you will get very weak and won't want to have to be doing it during a work weak. The weakness is not dangerous...it's just a natural effect of the fast. But if you are talking about eating only fruit for a regular diet and to lose weight, I would advise against that. A great book to read would be Michael Thurmond's 6 Day Mini Makeover...in this book, he explains why protein is so important to losing weight. You can get protein from fish, eggs, protein powders, and tofu...so you don't need to eat red meat or chicken to get protein. I am also grossed out by meat and poultry! I eat fish and the other protein alternatives. Either way, you need protein to lose weight and build muscle.

p.s. For a fruit/juice fast, bananas are not used. Carrots and tomatos are used...and if I get to the point where I really just can't stand it for more than 1 day, I either stop at one day, or else I add in plain brown rice (ie., no butter or flavoring.) Though I hardly ever get colds or flu, on the off chance I get one cold once every year or 2, I treat it by eating only fruit and brown rice for 2-3 days.
